00:09only to realize that they couldn't possibly be there. Paranormal mimics are believed to
00:14be entities capable of imitating the voices, appearances, and even behaviors of those closest
00:19to us. Some witnesses describe hearing a loved one call their name from an empty room, a basement,
00:25or the other side of a locked door, even though they know the person is not nearby.
00:31Others report encounters with what seem to be friends or family members in hallways or workplaces,
00:36only to find out that the real person was elsewhere entirely. Perhaps the most disturbing
00:41accounts involve imitations that start normally, but then take a sinister turn.
00:47Stories like these have circulated for years within paranormal communities, like Reddit,
00:51where people share experiences that leave them questioning what they truly heard or saw.
00:55Now while there is no verified evidence that supernatural mimics exist, this idea raises
01:01a chilling question. If something wanted to lure you somewhere you shouldn't go, it wouldn't
01:05need to look like a monster. It could sound exactly like the person you trust the most,
01:10and all it would have to do is call your name. So the next time you hear someone you love
01:15calling
01:15your name from somewhere you know they cannot be, you might want to think very carefully before
01:20answering, especially after this video. So, hit those lights, sit back, and let's get going.
01:34Home Alone
01:36This first video of a supposed mimic has garnered over 37 million views on TikTok.
01:41It was uploaded by Melody, who prior to this upload, just documented beauty tips and quirky
01:46everyday events of her life in California, and initially the video begins in a similar fashion.
01:52However, almost immediately, Melody, who believes she is alone in the house,
01:56becomes aware of someone or something calling her name. Take a look.
02:19The comments went crazy on this one, warning Melody that it was a mimic and not to answer it.
02:24You could clearly hear the name Mel or Melody, followed by possibly I love you.
02:29Shuffling of footsteps can then also be heard. Melody appeared genuinely shocked.

02:42Is that a genuine mimic trying to get Melody's attention, or is there a more plausible explanation?
02:54Sister Mimic
02:56Now, not all Mimics are captured on camera, and we were surprised just how many people
03:00seem to have had terrifying encounters with Mimics whilst going about their everyday lives.
03:05Here are just a few examples of Reddit users' experiences with Mimics.
03:10User YouLoserBoyNate recounted an unexplained event from when he was around 15 years old.
03:16It was the middle of the afternoon, and his mother and 16-year-old sister had just left the apartment.
03:22With the place to himself, he decided to take a shower.
03:25After about 5-10 minutes in the bathroom, he suddenly heard something that sounded like his sister.
03:31At first it was just soft crying, but then came her desperate pleas for help.
03:35Then, over and over again, he heard his name being called.
03:39Nathaniel.
03:40This unsettling experience lasted somewhere between 30 seconds to a minute, and with each cry, he became increasingly frightened.
03:48He quickly turned off the tap, grabbed a towel, and rushed out of the bathroom.
03:52The final cries had turned from normal to blood-curdling.
03:56Just as he reached the door and swung it open, calling out,
03:59What is it? What's wrong? I'm here.
04:01The screaming instantly stopped.
04:03He began searching the apartment, calling for his sister, and checking each room, but she was nowhere to be found.
04:10Panicked, he grabbed his cell phone and ran back into the bathroom to call his mother.
04:14When he explained what had happened, her response was even more disturbing.
04:18His sister was with her, and had been the whole time.
04:21Terrified, he'd ended up staying in the bathroom until his mother and sister returned home.
04:26This incident wasn't the only strange occurrence in that apartment.
04:29He said his family had a history of paranormal experiences,
04:32although these incidents became less frequent as he grew older.
04:36Nonetheless, he still occasionally encountered unexplained phenomena.
04:40Looking back, he wonders whether the voices he heard that afternoon
04:44were merely an unusual sound from another apartment,
04:47or something deliberately trying to lure him out of the bathroom.
04:49But one thing is clear.
04:51Whatever was crying for Nathaniel that day knew his name,
04:55and sounded exactly like his sister, even though she was nowhere near the building.
05:00This account received numerous comments from people who shared similar experiences.
05:04One of the creepiest responses came from a mum.
05:08The first incident occurred when she was getting dressed in her bedroom.
05:11Her children were upstairs, and the house seemed completely normal.
05:15Then, from somewhere outside the bedroom, she heard a voice.
05:18Mummy.
05:19It sounded like their son, but the voice was strangely low, and almost demonic.
05:24What called the mum?
05:25Mummy, it called.
05:26She could still hear her son and daughter running around upstairs,
05:29but the voice was definitely coming from outside the bedroom,
05:32and continued calling for her.
05:34When she eventually went upstairs to ask whether either child had come downstairs,
05:38both denied it.
05:39They'd apparently remained upstairs the entire time.
05:43About a month later, it happened again.
05:46Once again, the poster was getting dressed when she heard mummy.
05:49This time, the voice sounded like her daughter, again in that unnaturally low tone.
05:54Annoyed and already suspicious from the first incident,
05:57she opened the bedroom door, but there was nobody there.
06:00Both children denied calling for her,
06:02and this time their grandmother was also in the house,
06:05and she confirmed that neither child had been anywhere near the bedroom.
06:08But the strange voices did not stop there.
06:11A few months later, the grandmother was visiting,
06:13when she suddenly heard someone calling from the other side of the front door.
06:17Hey, Eric.
06:19The voice sounded exactly like the poster's father's best friend.
06:23The grandmother wondered what he was doing at the house,
06:25but when they checked the door, nobody was there.
06:28Things then got even stranger.
06:30While standing in the laundry room,
06:32the mum noticed what appeared to be a shadow standing behind them.
06:35Assuming it was one of her children, she didn't immediately panic.
06:39Then she heard a strange, digital-like screech directly beside her ear.
06:43When she turned her head, the sound seemed to move to the other ear,
06:48which was enough to make her run.
06:49In the following month, she heard two men arguing outside,
06:53accompanied by the sound of a motorcycle engine idling nearby.
06:56The voices sounded like her father and his friend,
06:59but when she called her dad, he was at home in bed,
07:01and there was nobody outside.
07:03She also heard music, and a man talking on the phone,
07:07and one time heard a loud crash in the house,
07:09but after checking found nothing that could explain the noise.
07:13The poster pointed out that she lived in a very rural area,
07:16so none of this could be explained by people passing outside,
07:19and to this day, she has no explanation for what occurred.
07:22Now, many people in the comments were convinced that these cases were paranormal mimics.
07:27One commenter who claimed to be a medium said that the account gave them chills
07:30because they understood exactly what was meant by the strange, almost digital-sounding scream.
07:35They described the sound as something that they had experienced themselves,
07:39claiming it was unlike anything produced by an ordinary human voice,
07:42and believed that it came from a non-human entity attempting to communicate,
07:47or perhaps somehow breaking through a barrier between its world and ours.
07:50One theory discussed an even darker direction.
07:53Rather than suggesting that a supposed demonic entity simply imitates a person's voice or appearance,
07:59the theory claims that such an entity could instead take control of a human host,
08:04using that person to carry out acts of violence,
08:07and potentially driving them towards their own death.
08:10And then there is another theory that moves beyond paranormal mimicry altogether,
08:14into something even more mysterious,
08:17alleged alien abduction.
08:19Some people who claim to have experienced an encounter
08:21believe that an abduction may begin long before anything unusual is actually seen in the sky.
08:26It could start with a strange sound somewhere in the distance,
08:30almost as though something is trying to call them.
08:32They can't identify what they're hearing,
08:34yet they experience an unexplained urge to investigate,
08:37which is when they are abducted.
08:39Now this theory does seem to align with the experiences of many people
08:42who claim they have been abducted by aliens,
08:44adding another disturbing possibility to the mystery of paranormal mimics.
08:55TikTok trends.
08:56With interest in mimics growing in recent years,
08:59more and more people have taken to the internet to share their unsettling encounters.
09:03Some are easy to dismiss,
09:05or others are far more difficult to explain.
09:07I want to take a look at some of the more convincing and disturbing accounts.
09:11Now a girl is home alone when she hears something mimicking her mum's voice,
09:15demanding that she opens the door.
09:17After she calls her neighbour for help,
09:19the voice grows increasingly demonic.
09:22Take a look at this.
09:25Hello, are you there, honey?
09:27Open the door for mommy.
09:31Hello.
09:34Hello.
09:35Hello.
09:45Hello.

09:55Pretty terrifying.
09:57It's made worse by the fact that the girl knew it wasn't her mum, as her car wasn't parked outside.
10:03Now this next one is equally creepy. The wife is recording her husband as he sleeps.
10:08However, there is one problem. The voice calling out in the background is also her husband, and appears to be
10:13coming from the hallway.
10:15Take a look at this.
10:38Now this next one is slightly different. It's not a voice, but a whole body mimic of the person's wife.

11:11Are you upstairs?
11:16Now apparently the wife was upstairs, yet you can clearly see the back of her in the corner.
11:21Now this last one is allegedly mimicking the woman, as opposed to anyone she knows.
11:26TikToker Tiff's Ghost Talk claims that she was cleaning whilst home alone, when she heard someone who sounded like her
11:32say hello.
11:33So she turned her camera on to tell her viewers, and she could hear the voice again as she recorded
11:38live.
11:39Take a look.
11:40Um, I am cleaning. Ignore this, my bandaid wouldn't stay on, so I taped it.
11:44But in the middle of cleaning, I hear like a door shut, and I'm whispering because I'm kind of weirded
11:50out.
11:51Louie's in the living room by himself, but I hear this door slam, and then I swear I thought I
11:57heard, like, me say, like, hello or hey or something.
12:05So I'm trying to wait and see if it does it again because I'm a nervous laugher.

12:44convincing? Are they just set up to gain views, or are these actual cases of mimics?
12:56The origins. Now although it may seem like the idea of paranormal mimics has only recently
13:01exploded across the internet, stories of creatures capable of imitating humans are far older than the
13:06modern fascination with them. Long before people were sharing mimic encounters online,
13:11the Tlingit people of southeastern Alaska were telling stories of something lurking
13:16amongst the rainforests, mountains, and freezing waters. Something that could do far more than
13:21simply hunt its prey. It could imitate them. Known in the local language as Koshad Akai,
13:27roughly meaning Land Otter Man, it is one of the most prominent figures in Tlingit folklore. The
13:33creature is also frequently associated with the so-called Alaskan Triangle, the vast and remote
13:38region in Alaska, where more than 20,000 people are claimed to have disappeared since the 1970s.
13:43For those who believe in the legend, the Koshad Akai offers a supernatural explanation for at least some
13:49of these mysterious disappearances. But the story of it is far older than the modern Alaska Triangle
13:54legend. It comes from the Tlingit oral tradition, where the creature is described as a supernatural
13:59shapeshifter, capable of taking several different forms. Most commonly, it is portrayed as something
14:04caught between man and otter. However, crucially, its appearance is not fixed. It might look completely
14:10human, or could appear as nothing more than an otter. According to the story, seeing it in human form
14:16does not mean you are safe. The creature is said to target those who are already vulnerable, including
14:21wandering children, solitary hunters, and sailors who have become stranded or shipwrecked. And rather than
14:27simply attacking them, it uses sounds and appearances to draw them away from safety, and their deception
14:32can become even more disturbing. If someone is already lost, exhausted, or suffering from
14:37hypothermia, it is said to be capable of taking the appearance of someone they trust. A family member,
14:43a friend, or even someone they believe has come to rescue them. But instead of leading them towards
14:48safety, the apparition guides them deeper into the wilderness, towards somewhere from which they
14:52will never return. There is even said to be a distinctive sound associated with the creature.
14:57When moving through the forest or communicating with others of its kind, the creature supposedly
15:03produces a three-part whistle, rising and falling in a low-high-low pattern. But not every version of
15:09this story portrays it as evil. In some traditions, the creature is almost a tragic saviour. If it
15:14discovers someone freezing to death, rather than allowing them to die, it uses its supernatural abilities
15:19to comfort them. As the person's life begins to fade, it apparently transforms them into one of its own
15:25kind. In this version, the creature saves its victim from physically dying of exposure. But the price is
15:31enormous. Their humanity is gone, and they are permanently transformed into the creature.
15:37Now thankfully, according to tradition, there are ways to protect yourself. Dogs are said to be
15:41particularly effective, with their barking supposedly capable of breaking through the creature's hypnotic
15:46illusions. Copper is also regarded as a protective material, while maintaining a bright fire is said to
15:52provide another form of protection. Now many locals believe that the creature serves as a warning,
15:56especially to children. Do not follow strange voices into the wilderness, do not wander away from
16:02safety, and do not automatically assume that the person calling your name is who they appear to be.
