Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and a host of other dignitaries are set to open the long awaited over one billion dollar ANR Robinson International Airport terminal on Tuesday.
Minister Jearlean John and her team were on the ground Saturday morning exploring the logistics at the terminal. More from Elizabeth Williams.

00:00All will be well. The Prime Minister is coming up on Tuesday. So we clear the airport open.
00:07So the airport will be, the new airport on the, what's that, the eastern side will be open.
00:15That's what the exercise is about. Will be open on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
00:22Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jolene John told the TV6 News final preparations are underway
00:28to ensure a smooth transition.
00:31I'm here on the ground because there's about five different events opening and certainly
00:36the Prime Minister is doing. So I'm just here, just kind of looking at the final preparations.
00:44That's what I'm here to do. I'm like the advanced person, just kind of making sure we're ready.
00:52A walkthrough of the facility was conducted on Saturday morning.
00:56We have airport authority, chairman is here. Carl Martin, CEO is here. The Minister of Transport,
01:03I left him at the airport. Leon, and so on. Aviation people are there. Customs, immigration,
01:10port health, you know. So they're all there doing, in addition to the Tobago House of Assembly,
01:17folks personnel. So they're all there.
01:19She said the airport would be one for the people of Tobago, just in time for the Tobago
01:24October Carnival month end. On June 14th, the new terminal was formally handed over to the airport's
01:32authority by the National Infrastructure Development Company, NITCO, and the Ministry of Works and
01:38Infrastructure. While in March of 2025, the facility underwent a practical opening under former Prime
01:45Minister Dr. Keith Rowley. However, the facility was not operational at that stage. The three mobile
01:52posts in Tobago are also set to open on Tuesday at Plymouth, Goodwood and Signal Hill.
01:59It's an accomplishment for the people at Tobago. It's an accomplishment for the people at Toronto
02:11in November to ensure all these things are set to the mobile units. I saw two just now. They're
02:17one in Signal Hill and one in Goodwood. That's the one. It wasn't Goodwood. The other one, I suppose.
02:22Goodwood, I didn't see. I don't want to play much right. But they're looking good and they're ready.
02:27And the local police officers, the Tobago-based police officers are there and they're ready to go.
