00:00I mean, Li Pei's just reading the phone book.
00:01I would be here for it.
00:03Yeah.
00:03Good morning.
00:05How could you have your clothes on?
00:07Do you have a favorite moment from the original film
00:10that you were really excited to kind of call back to going
00:13into the sequel?
00:14That house.
00:15The house had to be rebuilt with that same soul,
00:19the same texture.
00:20The living room, the dining room, the little apothecary,
00:22the pantry, a solarium were all right there
00:26with the gorgeous garden that we had.
00:27How gorgeous is that garden?
00:28The scenes of you standing in the greenhouse.
00:30This is hilarious.
00:31Beautiful, right?
00:33And the black cat.
00:34Yeah.
00:34So stunning.
00:36Oh, I was so excited to see the garden again.
00:39I mean, where like the rose bush where Jimmy was buried
00:42and just like, I don't know, there was something about,
00:45we don't like necessarily call a ton of attention
00:47to that like spot or anything, but just like seeing
00:50the garden rebuilt and seeing like, I don't know,
00:53that was just a really big moment for me.
00:55But I mean, all of the moments were big.
00:57Yeah.
00:58The tea, I love the tea stirring callback.
01:01Yeah.
01:01Especially because in this movie, like Sally is trying
01:05to bury that past deep and it's such a nice callback.
01:09And she kind of comes back around the corner like, huh.
01:13You're the Owen sisters.
01:14Yeah.
01:15Everyone we love dies.
01:16Oh, right.
01:17A really horrible death.
01:19One of my favorite kind of small moments in the original film
01:23and in the new one is when Jilly touches Sally's nose.
01:26Was that in the script or like, how did that happen?
01:30I think that might've been Griffin.
01:33Initially.
01:34Yeah.
01:34In the bed.
01:34I think that might've been something
01:36that came from his family.
01:38Like his.
01:38No, no, no.
01:40What?
01:40It came from.
01:41Oh, did?
01:42Yeah.
01:42My family.
01:43Yeah?
01:43Oh, really?
01:44Yeah.
01:44We've always done it.
01:45It's very calming.
01:47But it kind of wasn't written into the thing
01:49and Griffin was like, oh, play around.
01:51And somehow we found them.
01:53And so much of the magic that happens in this is the stuff
01:56that just comes from the ether.
01:59Everything's going to be okay.
02:00Just like it was when we had to bury a corpse under a rust bush.
02:03That kind of thing or different.
02:05Do you remember a specific moment where the magnitude of this project
02:08and its fan base really hit you for the first time?
02:11I think when the people that I knew personally in my life started to hype up
02:17what this meant to them, at least, I truly realized like,
02:21this is coming at the perfect time.
02:23I can't wait for this movie to come out.
02:24I can't wait to film this movie.
02:26There's so much love that's been, you know, marinating these past years.
02:30And I hope that that's reflected on the screen.
02:34The scale of people who I knew when they found out I was doing the second one
02:40were like, the excitement was kind of made me realize.
02:45What?
02:46Yeah.
02:47Shut up.
02:48Yeah.
02:48Seriously.
02:49That kind of like hit me and I was like, oh my God.
02:52And also getting to, we, you know, premiered the film in the UK the other day as well.
02:57And just the amount of people that were there and the amount of positivity
03:01and the support from all the fans in the original was insane.
03:05Never seen anything like that.
03:07It's really since the trailers have been dropping.
03:11Yeah.
03:11And the articles have been coming out and the comment sections
03:14and that I have felt the full magnitude of the fandom.
03:19It's a little overwhelming, but it's exciting.
03:21Yeah.
03:22It's spectacular.
03:22I mean, there's so much love that is already being poured into this movie from the fans.
03:29And that's such a great feeling in this day and age where just like things come to the theaters.
03:35You want people to be excited to go.
03:37And it's just so spectacular to be part of something like that.
03:40Who is on your Mount Rushmore of onscreen witches?
03:44Just recently, the wicked witches.
03:46Glinda.
03:50I love all of the Hallowells.
03:53So they'll all three beat up there from Charmed.
03:56Oh, my God.
03:56I love Nicole in Bewitched.
03:59Yes.
04:01I love it.
04:02That movie's really fun.
04:03Bellatrix Lestrange, even though she's evil, she's got so much character.
04:07I really love this.
04:09I just love how crazy she is.
04:12Here's something that we don't talk about enough is that how witches came about,
04:16it's on the backs of a lot of tragedy.
04:19You know, it's women who suffered because they had power or shared the knowledge or had wealth
04:24or were intuitive or were healing.
04:27You know, so I think those are the good witches that I'd like to go back and sort of resurrect
04:32and apologize to.
04:34It's true.
04:36We're witches in the f***ing curses room.
04:39I will never trust you again.
04:41I'm wondering if there's anything that happened, you know, on set during this process that maybe felt like it was
04:46a little bit of magic or sorcery,
04:48but it was actually just people being really good at their jobs.
04:52You know what was magical to watch?
04:55Because you never know if it's gonna happen or not, and you can't explain it or predict it,
05:01is the chemistry between actors and characters.
05:05The chemistry between Joey King and Maisie Williams from the first minute they met each other was there.
05:11They just fell in love with each other.
05:13So the magic of that casting, the magic of the casting with Lee Pace and Sandy Bullock,
05:20and the magic of the Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock relationship,
05:25we did not know if that would continue, if that would be recreated.
05:29Was it lightning in a bottle on the first movie?
05:31From the first minute we saw that, I was like, oh, it's back.
05:35They're back.
05:36Lee Pace breaking down a door, I didn't know that was something I needed in my life.
05:40And now I can't stop thinking about that scene.
05:43I mean, Lee Pace just reading the phone book.
05:45I would be here for it.
05:46Yeah.
