Ah Ren (played by Sam Hui), who works at a bread factory, and Ah Shen (Tsui Hark) and Ah Qing (Teddy Robin)—who work at a towing garage—all lose their jobs following a minor traffic accident. Ah Ren is forced to lie to the mother who raised him to cover up the situation, while Ah Qing moves in with his close friend Ah Shen.
Despite their rocky introduction, the three become fast friends through this incident and eventually land jobs at the Emperor Noodle Factory—only to run into trouble on their very first day. The workshop supervisor (Ng Man-tat) and the factory manager are corrupt and practice cronyism; in an attempt to shield a female employee who made a mistake, they try to fire the trio to use them as scapegoats. Fortunately, they manage to keep their jobs thanks to the intervention of the chairman's daughter, Ah Mei (Joey Wong). From then on, the three friends—joined by Ah Mei—engage in a hilarious battle of wits against the corrupt management team.
