00:00Hello everybody! Happy spooky season! Lift the handset to call but who are you
00:06calling? Is it a ghost? I am in Silent Hill Townfall, one of the recommendations
00:11for spooky games of the season. Thought I'd show you a little bit of it. It's
00:17really cool, very first-person immersive perspective. I'm in a phone booth as you
00:22can see. It's set in a sleepy little town in Scotland, of course, covered in fog.
00:28It wouldn't be a Silent Hill game if it wasn't absolutely smoked in that smoke,
00:34that loud, that ghostly loud. But yeah, it's really atmospheric and spooky game. You
00:44play a fella who finds himself washed up in this spooky Scottish town and you
00:53don't know why. But for narrative reasons, obtuse narrative reasons, it becomes clearer and clearer.
01:00And I think it's told in a very interesting way. This is really early on in the game, by the
01:03way.
01:04You're still exploring the new Scottish town. I've completed the game. It was awesome. Like 15-20
01:13hours of a great little story. And yeah, you play Simon at first. No spoilers. But yeah, you play
01:21Simon. There's my little footsteps. And I think this is just really early on in the encounter when
01:27you first, when you first come upon perhaps a spooky presence. But yeah, like I turned off a lot of
01:36it's very, I love the UX, the UI. I've turned off a lot of the, there's no crosshair. I have
01:43this little
01:47CRTV here with a message, a mysterious message. I have to find wherever that is. Okay, some sort of
01:58English woman who's in Scotland wants to go home and I need to find this home and maybe she'll be
02:05there.
02:06So you have a little CRTV and you can also use the CRTV to find monsters. But yeah, awesome. Runs
02:18great.
02:19Just done a patch that, you know, fixed some stuttering issues. Beautiful little Sunday roast there.
02:26That looks good to me. It's set in 1996. And you're just kind of trying to find out why
02:33the place is abandoned. So let's do a little exploring. There is a run button.
02:42Let's get running. But yeah, very atmospheric, very creepy, a fantastic little Halloween treat.
02:52If you want something a little more slow paced with interesting story. Okay, Chapman has failed us all.
03:00C-E-G. Let the fairies in. Oh, we have a little, our grief is their failure. Stand together Sunday,
03:0610th of March. Okay, so there's been a protest. There's been a protest. There's been some sort
03:11of tragedy, possibly a crime on this little community. And yeah, we can see a little protest that's
03:20happened there. So, so we have to, we have to find, okay, so if we use, if we use this,
03:31there is a,
03:35there's a, okay, okay, this is, let's copy this, right? This little, this little storefront.
03:44Let me go home. This little storefront down here. Okay, this little storefront. Come back to me.
03:51All right, here we are. Yep. Yep. That looks familiar. Let me leave here.
03:54Then we get to a tree and we get to a white house with the door. Now, I, I know
03:59where this is.
04:01Um, there's the tree. There's a white house. I'm not stupid. I can figure out what's going on.
04:08There we go. Oh, it's locked. There's a lean function. I love that. You can lean. Especially
04:17good for, there's a creepy, so there's a creepy dude around. Um, hmm, we go this way. Oh, guys,
04:29my bad. There's a map. There's a map as well. I forgot to mention that. Okay, so we could go
04:34that way.
04:36If we get to number three, maybe? That house, this is number three. Uh, let's do a little exploring. I
04:43know this isn't like a super exciting bit of content for you, but maybe it is. Maybe it is.
04:51Maybe I've already been. There it is. Oh. So I'm just by the house and the signal. Yes. Yes.
04:56Come back to me. There it is. Yes. Okay, great. I'll let you. I'll let you. Okay. Let's go inside.
05:06I love first person horror. Super, super creepy. Resident Evil 7.
05:12One of the scariest games of the time for me. Visage. Another on the list. Super spooky. Oh,
05:18someone has been in the house. So this is that woman's house. Very period appropriate. Oh, very good.
05:28Zoe Ellis. That's who I'm looking for. So she's not been home in quite some time. It looks great.
05:34Zoe. It nails the dinginess. So well. Zoe?
05:41Zoe? Good lord. You save with the phones. You save by dialing. I'm not going to dial though,
05:48but yeah, you save that way. There's an answering machine message here. Let's listen.
05:53You have one new message. Message one. Zoe, it's Jess. It's Jess. Please pick up.
06:03Zoe, you can't shut us all out like this. Call me. End of messages.
06:08Okay. So, um, where has Zoe gone? Let's... Hello? Zoe? So you kind of... Hmm? This doesn't mean
06:21that the volume of what happened to Joe. I can't help it. You're inexperienced. I don't know.
06:25You're not welcome here anymore. Oh, she's been ostracized. She's done something wrong.
06:29You're trying to help Joe in some way. I love the leaning.
06:34Um, computer. Very old school. Oh. We need power. We need power in this house.
06:44I love you can shut the door. Didn't mean to shut it on myself. Lol.
06:49Beautiful dingy ass kitchen. Oh. Human organ.
06:57Simon, you'll need this. Hmm. Has a code.
07:04So, a lot of cool little moments of little puzzles. Um...
07:09Ooh! A flashlight. I need batteries.
07:14Uh, cool little, you know, quiet puzzle moments. You can take some time to solve it.
07:17But then there's also... I'm sure I need a flashlight for down there.
07:20There's also, um... What's Zoe's family life like?
07:26Cats. Hope they made it out. Um, but there's also, yeah, some pretty terrifying secrets.
07:31Hey, that's my character.
07:35What the... What am I doing?
07:40Here. There's also, yeah, moments of, um,
07:44very, very scary hiding and seeking with monsters.
07:47Hey, here's some batteries. Hey, combine items.
07:51Heard of that before, haven't you? Let's combine these batteries.
07:57There's a flashlight that needs batteries. And now we have...
08:01a flashlight. Beautiful.
08:05Zoe?
08:06Oh.
08:11Nurse clothes? Yep.
08:13She's a nurse. Okay. What's in here?
08:18Um, ooh.
08:20Any goods? Anything good here?
08:23Empty. Absolutely empty. Oh, God.
08:27Hmm. That's not good.
08:30Oh. Human organ for... Oh, okay. There's a code there.
08:34I'm sure we'll need that to open that thing down there.
08:36Let's take a look at what's under the... What's in the little Harry Potter area.
08:40Uh, which I think, you know, might, uh...
08:44Just open that up.
08:46Yep. Power meter.
08:47How do you use a power meter?
08:50Just said sold to the local news agent.
08:53Okay. So we need a card.
08:55So you... To power this house.
08:57So we can turn on the computer.
08:58So we can, I don't know, read some sort of old email.
09:01I'm pretty sure we need to go to a news agent.
09:03So if we just go out, I think we might be, um...
09:12Uh, we might... Oh.
09:14Did you hear that?
09:16Might be greeted with our next little terrifying puzzle.
09:24Yeah, I really enjoyed the game.
09:25Um, there's some freaky stuff happening.
09:28This is, again, this is so early on.
09:29We're just getting introduced to...
09:32Freaks.
09:33Like this axe-headed man.
09:35That doesn't look good.
09:36That doesn't look good at all.
09:40That's not good.
09:41That's not nice to see.
09:43What the hell is that?
09:44What is that?
09:45I've got no guns right now, by the way.
09:46I've got no guns, got nothing.
09:48Hold CRTV tuned track signals.
09:51Okay, so you can see there.
09:52I'm scrolling my mouse and I'm tuning on that little...
09:54So now you can see enemies through the walls with your magical portable television.
10:03So he's over there.
10:05And guess where we have to be?
10:06The news agent, which is where he is.
10:09Bring delivery to the back door, please.
10:11That's locked, of course.
10:13So we've got to go out the back.
10:15We've got to go and face the monster.
10:20Yeah, peeking.
10:22All right, you can peek.
10:23Let's just...
10:24Let's peek.
10:25Let's get real close and peek.
10:27Let's peek, let's peek.
10:30Can't really see him.
10:32So it...
10:33Oh god.
10:34Legitimately gave me a scare.
10:37So we can look through the walls here.
10:39We have to basically get where he is.
10:41You can duck down a little as well.
10:43So you can make yourself really smart.
10:45Let's go, let's go, let's go.
10:47Stay there, mister.
10:49Just stay right there.
10:50Just don't come over here.
10:52I'm not looking behind me.
10:54Um, yep, yep, yep, yep.
10:56He's fine.
11:00We made it, and I think we're in the news agents.
11:03Okay, we are.
11:05Ooh.
11:06A plank.
11:08We can defend ourselves against me axe.
11:10Me axe man.
11:12Yep, yep.
11:13Melee combat.
11:15Leaving the...
11:16Oh, rude.
11:18I won't show that.
11:19Oh, there's a card.
11:23Great, now we can power the house.
11:25Ah, you can hide your weapons as well.
11:28Can I just...
11:29Absolutely beautiful.
11:31That's a...
11:31Oh, god.
11:33Oh, heavens.
11:34No, no.
11:37No clips.
11:40Die, die, die.
11:43Oh.
11:45He no clips.
11:46He back roomsed.
11:47He backs roomsed his way in.
11:51Oh.
11:52No use locking that now.
11:54Right, okay.
11:57Um.
11:58All right.
12:00And then we'll go back to the house.
12:02We'll power up, and we'll continue on with the puzzles.
12:05I'm not going to show any more, but this is an excellent little, uh, slice of what a little bit
12:10of combat is.
12:11It's, you know, some satisfying puzzles, some spooky guys.
12:13It gets so much bigger, both in narrative scope and in, um, spookiness and monsters and the hiding and the
12:19seeking.
12:20So, uh, yeah, I really recommend it.
12:24Silent Hill Townfall, part of the, uh, spooky games of the season.
12:28Do check it out and, um, save yourself, okay?
12:32Save yourself.
12:33Call 100.
12:34Do check it out.
