00:04and collided with a trailer in a five-vehicle crash at kilometre 48 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu, Kota Baru
00:11in Kampung Selamat, Setiu, on Saturday afternoon.
00:15The victims were identified as driver Nur Fauzia Ismail, 38,
00:19and front seat passenger Zawiyah Halias, 41, both traders.
00:24Setiu OCPD, Superintendent Zahril Asri Mohamad Zain,
00:28said police received a report at about 4 p.m.,
00:32with the crash believed to have occurred at 3.45 p.m.
00:36Preliminary investigations found that the Proton Wajah,
00:39travelling from Kota Baru towards Kuala Terengganu,
00:42allegedly skidded into the opposite lane and collided with a Mercedes-Benz trailer.
00:47The impact caused the trailer to skid and graze three other vehicles,
00:52a Perodua Arus, a Perodua Myvi and a UDT lorry,
00:56which were travelling in the same direction as the Proton Wajah.
01:00Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
01:03Their bodies were taken to the Setiu Hospital Forensic Unit.
01:07The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
01:15Zahril urged witnesses to contact the Setiu District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation
01:20and Enforcement Division to assist in the investigations.
