00:16Oliver, how on earth were you not three or four goals up and how surprised were you by that turn
00:22around?
00:25Yes, it's probably the oldest rule in football, the goals you don't score, you concede and it felt like this
00:32and I think we played by far our best 40 minutes this season.
00:39I think in total we played, this was our best performance in the entire season.
00:44But again, if you don't score from all these chances, but there's nobody to blame because effort was massive,
00:51even after the 1-3, the players tried and tried and tried and effort and created chances.
00:58Of course, after the 1-3, because we could have scored the 2-2, there was a little bit of
01:05a drop in the confidence and in the belief,
01:07but then players tried again with the big chance with Chris Wood again, where I spoke to him and he's
01:13not to blame,
01:13I think 9 of 10, and then like Morgan does the chance, we can do it with blind eyes.
01:20But today, I have no explanations because the players, the quality of them is so good also in converting and
01:29I see this every single day.
01:30So my explanation for this, it's just me who is to blame for it and I think I didn't deserve
01:35to win at Selhurst today,
01:37after these two years we had together and that's why it's very disappointing and frustrating, the result.
01:45But for me, it was our best performance this season.
01:49And how did you sort of find the whole occasion? Because the home fans were quite warm to you,
01:55you got some sort of nice applause before the game and after the game and also during the game they
02:00had a bit of fun at your expense,
02:02which you'd probably expect as well.
02:03Yes, I want to say a huge thank you to the Crystal Palace supporters for this great reception.
02:08I didn't know what I can expect but it just shows what wonderful memories we created together here.
02:15And I also want to say on the other side a huge thank you to the Nottingham Forest fans
02:19because also when they could see the applause from the Palace fans they shouted my name and supported me
02:24and as a manager and I'm now in football for many years.
02:28I haven't experienced that I was supported from both sides and so a really huge thank you.
02:35But again, Oliver Glasner was not important today.
02:38But I feel guilty, let's say a hit like this, that we lost this game because of the effort.
02:46And I managed many games here and I haven't seen many teams, I don't know, was there one,
02:51but I haven't seen many teams that created so many clear chances than we did.
02:56But the result is disappointing.
03:01Hi Oliver, obviously you had an amazing time here at Palace,
03:04but I think you weren't certain what the reception was going to be like.
03:08Were you a bit surprised that it was so positive towards you?
03:14Again, I didn't know so I think also credit to Steve Parrish for his interview.
03:22I think he spoke about it, I also told him this directly I think.
03:26But on the other side, honestly how I got the fans known and how I got the supporters of Crystal
03:34Palace known
03:35is that they are very, not just committed, also very grateful to players who helped the club,
03:46who helped, to managers who helped the club being successful.
03:51And I really, and I think you know me, and I don't look back very often in my life.
03:59But today it was a little bit when we were in the hotel in Croydon.
04:04And then I thought, it's really amazing, in the last 16 months we won three trophies with Crystal Palace.
04:13So the first in history.
04:16And then how I got them known, I thought, I didn't expect, but I thought it will be like this
04:24to be honest.
04:24Because we had such great times together and this is just how I got them known.
04:29Yeah, very, very grateful and fans, people.
04:36There was a few, I don't know if you heard it at the end and Matt mentioned it just then,
04:39but there was a few chants sort of directed towards you at the end,
04:42like what's the score and some play for what you're getting sacked in the morning.
04:47Yeah, I take it that you're not worried about that as far as you can even have some time to
04:52do what you need to do,
04:53because obviously at Palace it took you a bit of time to do what you wanted to do.
04:56Yes, I didn't hear it and I think everybody seems to laugh about it,
05:03but yes, it's nice, fans can sing it.
05:06No, again, I know the last four performances when Palace played against Nottingham
05:14and Palace could not win in the last four when I was the manager,
05:18but I think this was the most dominant Nottingham Forest performance,
05:24but not the right result.
05:26So this gives me confidence and this is what is my job,
05:30not to be influenced negatively by the result, yes, by the disappointing result.
05:36So looking at the performance, looking at what we did and now supporting the players to convert the chances.
05:46Hi Oliver, welcome back.
05:48Given everything that's gone on between these two clubs,
05:50you mentioned the previous results, you mentioned today,
05:53does it feel like there's now a lasting, I don't want to say rivalry that feels too strong,
05:57but a lasting sense of tension between these two clubs, between these two sets of fans moving forward?
06:03I don't know, at the end it's what we all want when there is a rivalry between fans because this
06:11is,
06:11but I think it was everything also today, it was very how we want it,
06:17both supporters, both sides supported their team with a lot of energy, with a lot of power,
06:24there was maybe a few but I didn't hear it, no negativity against the opposition,
06:31it was really supporting my team, and this is how we want football at the end.
06:37There were some stories written in the past October, when it started with the Europa League,
06:46I don't know, in the last 16 months, let's say, and I hope that I,
06:55I don't know how you say in English, in German we say,
06:58let's say, my guilt is done, let's say, no, forget it.
07:06No, again, it's me to blame, I didn't deserve to take the win today here from Selhurst,
07:15because, again, players' performance, effort, the way we played,
07:19the way we created chances was top, but if your manager doesn't deserve to win,
07:28they could have done whatever they want.
07:33You've already kind of answered this a little bit,
07:34but I just wonder what your message to the players was about,
07:38with the number of chances you created moving forward,
07:41are you encouraged by that, or do you think it's certainly difficult or why?
07:45No, 100 per cent encouraged by this, and again,
07:49it's where I can have to blame myself, and you were at the press conference,
07:54and then it was, I don't know who asked me,
07:56with the many encouraging statistics data,
08:02I just got one at the XG Premier League table,
08:05we should be second, but it's not the reality,
08:09and I think I was asked with the third most shots,
08:12and my response was wrong,
08:14because I said we have to increase the quality of the finishes,
08:18we have to increase the quality of the chances,
08:21and the players, such great lads, they did exactly this,
08:25they increased the quality of the finish of the shots,
08:28and they increased the quality of the chances,
08:30and my response should have been,
08:32we just have to take our chances,
08:35and I think if they had heard this response,
08:41they would have scored some goals today.
08:43Did you have an issue at all with the second Palace goal,
08:46or some question of maybe there would be a handball involved in it?
08:49Yeah, you're the second one who asks me this,
08:51I haven't watched it back honestly,
08:54but I complained after our disallowed goal against Nottingham
09:01that the threshold of the VR intervention should be very high,
09:07and maybe it was like this today,
09:08so please not everybody has to listen to Oliver Glasner,
09:12so it could also be the opposite now,
09:14but for me it's important,
09:15a red line,
09:16I haven't watched it back,
09:18the goal was given,
09:19so we had a few very tight decisions against us,
09:24but maybe it's also a test for all of us to stay calm and keep working.
09:32I don't know if it gets overlooked because of the unresolved work,
09:35but it was a good goal by Dan,
09:37and I think he had a really good performance,
09:39was it pleasing to see him come up on the social duty,
09:41coming that over in the formation?
09:44Yes, and it's also something,
09:46it was, let's say, the first mistake by Palace,
09:49and we take the chance,
09:51you know, it was wow,
09:52and I thought, hey, today, yes, it works,
09:55and then it's missing and missing and missing and missing and missing.
09:59Yeah, Dan had a great performance today.
10:02Again, today I saw many positive performances,
10:06but it's not shown by the result,
10:10and because we missed the most important thing,
10:14this is scoring goals in the right moments,
10:15because also we conceded three and that's too much.
10:19But also when you see, I think the first goal,
10:21it was twice we hit the ball,
10:23and it was like a billiard,
10:25you know, ping, ping, ping, ping,
10:27and then Daiji Kamada gets the ball,
10:29the second is a set pace where we defend,
10:32we had the same, I think, quality chances from corners,
10:36but we didn't take them,
10:37and the third one was the same at billiard,
10:39like James McAteev deflects the ball with his toe,
10:44and it goes past Murillo,
10:45and then we have a save,
10:46and then the ball falls straight into the feet of Jeremy Pino,
10:50but again, and this is,
10:56to go back to my first words,
10:59the oldest rule in football,
11:00if we don't score you concede,
11:02and we did today.
11:03Oliver, you said Tommer a few times,
11:06but do you believe in Tommer generally in life?
11:09Do you believe in Tommer?
11:11Yes, I always say, you know,
11:13because for me there is no explanation,
11:15sometimes the ball is,
11:16I always say, post in or post out,
11:19and my experience is,
11:22in life, it's,
11:25again, it's not,
11:26you always get what you deserve at the end,
11:28you know, and when you have,
11:30and we're still at the beginning of our journey,
11:33and I remember similar situations
11:37in every single club, to be honest,
11:41so not just talking about my Palace past,
11:44also at Frankfurt when we won the Europa League,
11:47I think we had four goals in the stoppage,
11:50or five game winners in stoppage time,
11:52in 13 games,
11:53and I remember in the final,
11:55in the 119th minute against the Rangers,
11:57they have a massive chance,
11:59an incredible save of our goalkeeper,
12:00and then they get the rebound,
12:02and one of our players clears the ball from the line,
12:05and then we win in the penalty shootout,
12:06so phew,
12:07and I could go back to the,
12:09I think especially the Palace journalists,
12:13they will know the FA Cup final,
12:14I said it afterwards,
12:15we can play this game 100 times,
12:18I think it would be 98 times City the winner,
12:20maybe one penalty shootout,
12:23and once we won the game,
12:26and on this day it just had to happen,
12:29for whatever reason I have no,
12:30you know I'm talking about karma,
12:32if I have no rational explanation,
12:34and today I have no rational explanation,
12:37because I see, I know these players,
12:39I know the quality,
12:40the finishing quality of these players,
12:42so for example,
12:45Liam,
12:48he's one of our best finishers,
12:50to miss this chance is just today,
12:53and no reason,
12:55yes now we can say he could just pass it into the goal,
12:57but Liam scores all his goals with power,
13:01and then Ndoye,
13:03the header,
13:04I think 9 of 10 he would score,
13:07not today,
13:08and there is no,
13:09I can't say they were fatigued,
13:11they didn't want,
13:12there was a lack of effort,
13:17lack of commitment,
13:17no,
13:19that's why,
13:20I don't find a reason,
13:23just me.
13:25Thank you very much.
