00:00At least four people have died in the United States after a hurricane in Saia struck the Gulf Coast with
00:04powerful winds and heavy rainfall before weakening into a post-tropical cyclone on Saturday.
00:09The storm made landfall near Destin, Florida late Friday as a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of up to
00:15165 kilometers per hour.
00:18Authorities confirmed two deaths in Florida, including a woman killed when a tree fell on her home.
00:22Alabama Governor Kate Ebay also reported two fatalities in her state.
00:27Meanwhile, more than 600,000 homes and businesses were without electricity across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia by Saturday afternoon.
00:34The storm also overturned trucks, damaged gas stations, and tore roofs from buildings near the landfall area.
00:40According to the National Hurricane Center, Saia is expected to move north and the northeast, gradually dissipating as it crosses
00:46the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys.
00:54It was a little scary.
00:57We were pretty fortunate.
00:58We had power up until about 930.
01:01I think lots of others lost power about an hour before us, but, you know, there was lots of noise.
01:09Our neighbor shed flew into our backyard, so that rattling of that metallics was a bit unnerving.
01:18But, overall, it was, you know, we were okay.
01:21We hunkered down, got in the center of our house, and did all the things you're supposed to do, and
01:26luckily came out on the other side.
01:28So, the first news we got was it was going to be a Cat 2, and then it ramped up
01:33real quickly to a Cat 3, and then it was too late to leave.
01:35So, then you just hunker down and do the best you can, so.
01:40Well, our house flooded last time, so we decided to bring it here because we had one car we lost
01:46last time.
01:47It went here in Ivan, and so we thought, well, we'll bring it up here.
01:51Unfortunately, we just parked in the wrong place.
01:53Yes.
01:53Yes.
01:54Yes.
