00:00They fought us tooth and nail to the very end.
00:03I thought Jeff Halfley's doing a great job with these guys, man.
00:06He's got to believe him.
00:07They fought us like they fought a lot of other teams.
00:09They gave themselves a chance.
00:11There's a lot of frustrating things on our end.
00:13We had two personal fouls.
00:14We fumbled twice in the red zone.
00:16We caught a kickoff on the four-yard line.
00:19We had a penalty on a field goal that led to a touchdown, gave them four points,
00:23gave up over 200 yards rushing, so plenty, plenty to clean up.
00:27The bye hits us at a great time.
00:29I know these guys are worn out.
00:31We've had some down-of-the-wire games the last three weeks.
00:33I don't know how hot this one was today.
00:35So the bye week comes at a great time for us to be three and two.
00:38These guys will regroup.
00:40We know who we are.
00:41Today there's a lot of things we have to clean up to be better
00:44when we go to Baltimore in two weeks.
00:46I imagine your message at halftime, no doubt, was to finish this game.
00:49It sounds like you're a little disappointed in how they handled it.
00:51Well, trust me, I'm not going to sit here and winning.
00:57We've got to win games in this league.
00:58And we've all sat in this room and seen some get away from us.
01:01So we won the game, and I'm excited about that.
01:04And that was our defense created a turnover there at the very end
01:08that gave us three extra points that made it a seven-point game
01:10that made it feel a little bit different, six-point, whatever it was.
01:13So we did some good things.
01:14There's some positive things we did,
01:15but there's also some things that we don't turn the ball over in the red zone like that.
01:21The kickoff, the field goal, I mean, those are things that were better than that,
01:26and we've got to clean that up.
01:27How encouraged were you with the way you ran the ball today,
01:30and specifically how was the logic you were in right now?
01:33Yeah, I mean, I thought we ran the ball well.
01:35Last week was last week.
01:37We put that one behind us.
01:39I thought we had a good week of practice.
01:40I thought our linemen really came off the ball during practice.
01:42I felt confidence coming in this game.
01:44I thought our guys finished well the right way,
01:47all the guys that were in on those runs.
01:49And so that part was good.
01:51Was there something that Samaje was bringing
01:53to help give you guys some juice on the ground today?
01:56I think he was just finishing an extra two, three.
01:59Got a lot of confidence in Chase.
02:00Sometimes when you've got two great backs that you've got trust in,
02:03that's just the way it can go sometimes,
02:04and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
02:07What led to the two Jordan-Bowell interceptions?
02:12Honestly, I don't know.
02:13I'll have to watch him.
02:14I can't remember if there was pressure involved or how they happened.
02:18I was happy when they happened.
02:20So I'll have to watch him and kind of get a better feeling.
02:22Did you sense you guys were getting good pressure?
02:24Yeah.
02:24Yeah, I thought there was times that we were covering him well.
02:28He made some plays with his feet.
02:30So I know the rushing yards are going to come up
02:31on some big quarterback runs that he had as well,
02:35which we can't discount that.
02:36You know, anytime you play a guy,
02:37we're about to play a guy in two weeks,
02:39I can do the same thing.
02:40So we understand we've got to do a better job there.
02:43I believe after one of the fumbles,
02:44Joe, it goes on the ground.
02:45It looks like he got a wrap around his way.
02:47Yeah, I think he just jammed his thumb, I think,
02:49on his non-throwing hand.
02:51Nothing, he just had a little bandage on.
02:53Do you think this could be a blueprint for the run game
02:54moving forward with what today we all saw?
02:57We'll take a game-to-game on what it's going to look like
02:58for every game just to move the ball and score.
03:02Beyond the success of the running plays,
03:04the ball, was that intentional coming into the game,
03:07or was that the way they were playing?
03:08That was just the way the game played out.
03:10You know, they're trying to give you some underneath stuff
03:13and let you run the ball a little bit, you know,
03:15when you're in the gun there.
03:16So you've got to take advantage of it
03:17and get some yards there
03:18and take advantage of the shots
03:20when you get the favorable looks for them,
03:21which we did with Jamar on the one.
03:23You know, eventually they've got to come up.
03:25If they're going to be in those shells,
03:26come up and make a play.
03:28And I thought they did a great job.
03:29They're well-coached on defense.
03:31I thought they're guys tackled well.
03:33And they gave us a run there.
03:34They made it hard.
03:37Yeah, a relentless energy.
03:39I think you know what you're going to get with him
03:40on every play.
03:41He loves being out there.
03:42He loves playing.
03:43He's physical in the run game.
03:45Does a great job affecting the passer.
03:47And so I'm pleased with Boyan.
03:49What can you say about the toughness of Jamar
03:51and T?
03:52Questionable going into the game.
03:53Yeah.
03:54Hats off to them.
03:55They wanted to play, you know,
03:56and Jamar had a clear protocol,
03:57I think, on Saturday.
03:59T really, his mindset all along was,
04:01I'm playing.
04:02Now I hadn't seen him on the field enough to know,
04:05you know, I appreciate him saying that,
04:06but I need to see him do it, you know,
04:07in practice.
04:08And he did.
04:09So for those guys to go out there
04:11and make plays that they did for us is big time.
04:14And I don't ever question that.
04:16I mean, those guys have been here seven years,
04:17six years.
04:18And they show up for us every chance they get.
04:20And we've got leaders and great players like that
04:22on your team.
04:23It sets the tone for everybody else
04:24when those guys are playing through injuries
04:25and doing everything they can
04:27to come down here and play in Miami
04:28before a bye week.
04:30They could easily say, you know,
04:31give me a week off.
04:32We'll get the bye week
04:33and we'll come back for a divisional game.
04:34But they didn't want to do that.
04:35How many times do you exactly
04:36think of yourself
04:37and when you had those practices
04:39in August when you had?
04:42Nothing really at this point in October
04:43gets you ready for this heat.
04:45I mean, somebody told me it started off
04:46as the hottest game here in October history,
04:48which I can attest to.
04:49I've coached here for four years
04:50and this was, I mean, pregame,
04:52I was worn out, you know.
04:54And so our players fought through that.
04:56And I told them,
04:56I made that statement to them
04:57because I know they're dead tired right now.
05:00And I didn't want them to think
05:01that's just in their mind.
05:02They're like, what's wrong with me?
05:03It was a hot day
05:03and they battled through it.
05:06And they found a way to win
05:07and I don't discount that at all.
05:09How big has Tanner Hudson been
05:10and how big has you dealt with injuries
05:12and different issues
05:13and that drive he kind of willed you
05:15to a third bounty of the team?
05:16Yeah, I mean, he's just Mr. Dependable,
05:18whatever it is,
05:19whether he's on the practice squad,
05:20whether he's on the roster,
05:21he's going to show up.
05:23And so, you know,
05:25he's been who we thought he was.
05:27You know, Tanner shows up
05:28and makes plays,
05:30never complains.
05:32Eric goes down for a play,
05:34he's in.
05:34Mike goes down for a play,
05:35he's in.
05:35He knows them all,
05:36he can play them all.
05:39Just I need the defense
05:40to decide who he is
05:41so we know if we're going to get
05:42base or nickel when he's in there.
05:50I have no idea.
05:51He's out,
05:52shoe,
05:53he's back in.
05:54That's what I know,
05:54that's what I hear.
