This video captures the initial stage of dismantling following a significant four-alarm blaze that devastated the 116-year-old Centennial Mills facility located along Northwest Naito Parkway. The fire compromised the internal timber framework, causing the complete collapse of all seven upper stories. Due to this structural failure, the integrity of the outer brick walls was at risk. To mitigate the danger posed by the steel water tower situated on the roof, demolition teams executed a controlled explosion at its base. The explosion effectively detached the support legs, allowing the water tank to descend directly into the emptied interior without affecting the surrounding exterior walls. Following the successful removal of the water tower, teams shifted focus to employing large high-reach excavators to methodically take apart the remaining outer walls.
