00:10hey guys and welcome girl here and welcome back to another of what remains of Edith
00:18French part 6 and we're off by first in Frick I don't know where to go so well yeah we
00:33got there so we already got two family members
00:42I think for him it was a way to be something other than just a pinch so where do we
00:51go like go over
00:52here I guess because the door is locked over there I can't go over there because it would take me
01:02to
01:02Milton's room but if you look at the view oh good god if you look at the view from here
01:20now why you want to pack
01:22she waited until the day before we left to tell Edie
01:27oh gosh
01:32do I go all over here no
01:41I do not know where to go but I'm just gonna go okay so that's to do it
01:52oh there's a door
01:59I wish we'd stay but I understand where we left
02:08he did mom
02:19my mom ended up leaving everything behind
02:26oh boy what is that picture crack
02:39to teach and to learn
02:50and what happened to the dad
02:52what happened that night
02:53maybe you should have come sooner
03:08but it had to end
03:13all that's left now
03:14is to tell you about that last night
03:35that whole last day
03:37Edie just watched his pack
03:39and didn't say a word
03:41until supper
03:42and she raised her glass and said
03:45to our final night together
03:48and all our final nights apart
03:51Grandma
03:52you know what I said about alcohol
03:54some of your medications are very specific
03:56I left a present for you
03:58in the hallway
03:59why don't you go home by night
04:01the grown-ups have to argue now
04:04I'm sorry, you're right
04:06we're all leaving tomorrow
04:07let's just enjoy our last
04:09I'm not leaving
04:10Edith, you're excused
04:21the power had been shut off that morning
04:23but Edie always had plenty of candles
04:27when my mom said the library
04:28I don't think she'd move out the other entrance
04:32or that Edie had a key to it
04:47that thing you're afraid of isn't going to end
04:50when you leave the house
04:54Edith has a right to know this story
04:56my children are dead
04:58because of your story
05:00I think it's necessary
05:01if Edith and I leave tonight
05:05we'll have the nursing home
05:07send a van for you in the morning
05:11it's not the grandma's fault
05:15you cannot blame your grandmother
05:19that's just wrong
05:31I'm about to say
05:32it was the first and last time I ever saw the old house aground
05:39there's been an earthquake out in the middle of the ocean
05:44they called it the lowest tide in a thousand years
05:50god, it smelled awful
05:52and awful
05:55oh
05:55I've seen that house every day of my life
06:05where's the orphan?
06:10when the farm went in
06:12I lost my way
06:22I got turned around
06:29I started seeing things
06:32a deer with his bambi
06:36I'm just gonna keep walking
06:42things I'd forgotten had ever existed
06:49there's a bed
06:51but when I saw them
06:52they felt like old friends
06:55that night
06:56a lot of things came back to me
07:01or maybe
07:03I came back to them
07:14things I can't explain
07:17but that I need you to try
07:19what are you doing in here?
07:22it's mine
07:22eat it
07:23mom, you're gonna rip it
07:25let go
07:28I kicked and screamed
07:30but
07:31while I'm dragging me to the car
07:33I never saw a great grandma
07:34eating again
07:39the next morning
07:40the van came to pick her up
07:42she was already going
07:47after that
07:47we moved around a lot
07:57we both tried to make the best of it
08:07a few years went by
08:17my mom didn't like to talk about it
08:21but she started getting sick a lot
08:31she got better for a while
08:35and then she didn't
08:39wait
08:40was it illness
08:42like
08:43sickness
08:44or cancer
08:47the last finch left alive
08:54until I found out about you
08:59I'm still not sure what to tell you about all this
09:04if we lived forever
09:05maybe we'd have time to understand things
09:09but as it is
09:10I think the best we can do
09:12is try to open our eyes
09:16and appreciate how strange
09:18and brief all of this is
09:37how can I can go
09:40this journal was supposed to be for you
09:45but now I hope you'll never see it

10:10this is where your story begins
10:12I'm sorry I won't be there to see it
10:15it's a lot to ask
10:16but I don't want you to be sad that I'm gone
10:19I want you to be amazed
10:21that any of us ever had a chance to be here at all
10:24good luck
10:29oh she died

10:39that is so sad
