00:001-0 then, and it's over 12 years since Dean Saunders first scored against Manchester United.
00:05That was in his Oxford days. The Welshman has played for 10 different clubs in the English League,
00:10scoring 239 senior goals. His three in the Premiership this season have all come in matches.
00:17Bradford have won. And Saunders has a new striking partner today. The Portuguese on loan,
00:23George Cadet, starts for the first time with Dean Windass dropping into midfield.
00:27Matt Clarke is back in goal after missing six matches with a knee ligament injury.
00:33Manchester United bring back David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Dwight York and Andy Cole.
00:38A quartet to make even Real Madrid quake, you might say.
00:42They played no part in Valencia, but Jat Stam and Dennis Irwin are both rested after that game
00:47and replaced by Mikael Sylvester and Phil Neville.
00:57Euro 2000 referee Graham Pohl gets the match started in bright sunshine.
01:02And when FIFA introduced their international calendar, one hopes they won't destroy the democracy of a game
01:09which sees Manchester United playing at Valley Parade Bradford today
01:13and in the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid in 10 days' time.
01:19Whatever you say, it's a tough test for Bradford as Windass takes the early throw.
01:24And that's help in there from Wetherall is always dangerous at set plays.
01:30That was backing by McCall.
01:33And here's Windass again.
01:39Now Ryan Giggs to Dwight York.
01:44Manchester United in their chainstrip of dark blue shirts.
01:49Now it's Stuart McCall.
01:53It's a nice measured pass to Jamie Lawrence.
01:56A longer one looking here for Saunders.
01:59He's got good support from Peter Beagree.
02:04Oh, and there's a lot just when the chunks opened up for Windass.
02:15Very close for Dean Windass.
02:21Here's Giggs.
02:25The back heel puts in Phil Neville.
02:29This is Keane.
02:32And now Beckham.
02:39Gary Neville with three in the centre here.
02:42Dwight York is up first.
02:45And it's been cleared by Jacobs.
02:49Scholes gets a little handball by Paul Scholes.
02:52Was it or was he pushed?
02:54Well, both sets of players are feeling.
02:57Scholes says he was pushed.
02:59Bradford say he handled.
03:00Although Brian was at the heart of that as well.
03:04But Scholes is quite convinced he should have had a penalty.
03:07Defender and a chance for Manchester United.
03:09Which goes away.
03:13Well, Matt Clarke came out rapidly and possibly did enough to put Giggs off.
03:17It's a great ball by Beckham, this, from the middle of the field.
03:19It's cut out the defender.
03:21Giggs is onside.
03:22He gets it down.
03:23Tries to loft it over the goalkeeper and wide.
03:32Cole to Neville.
03:34Cole to Neville.
03:36And Cole's facing up again here.
03:42Hanging on and then finding Beckham.
03:44And there's plenty in there here for him to weigh, Matt.
03:46Scholes with the flick on.
03:48York.
03:48Oh, and Matt Clarke.
03:51A very good last-ditch save from Dwight York by the Bradford goalkeeper.
04:03Well, the escape was not so much there.
04:05It was the attack before that.
04:07And Matt Clarke gets them.
04:17And David Beckham perhaps suggesting he might do what Mihailovic of Lazio did in midweek.
04:25And score for an improbable angle.
04:28It was headed away for a corner.
04:35Dwight York is coming in.
04:36Oh, that's a goal for Manchester United.
04:40Dwight York, the scorer.
04:4337 minutes.
04:46And nothing more simple than this.
04:48A Beckham corner.
04:50Three defenders are there around him.
04:51But he gets the header in with power.
04:54And Bradford go behind on 37 minutes.
04:58Dwight York's 19th goal of the season.
05:01Puts him one behind Andy Cole.
05:04Keeper and then the post.
05:07Well, it could have been two in two minutes.
05:10And I've got a feeling Matt Clarke got fingers to this before it hits the post.
05:15It's Dwight York.
05:16That's a very good save.
05:24Everybody's coming at them now in a blue shirt.
05:26This is Beckham to York.
05:31And Dwight York is causing all sorts of trouble here.
05:35And has he made it too?
05:36Cole went in to make sure.
05:38But Dwight York will surely claim it again.
05:46A couple of minutes after putting Manchester United into the lead.
05:49Here he is.
05:50Didn't play it the first time.
05:52Got it back off gigs.
05:53Scooped it over Matt Clarke.
05:55And that's over the line, I would have thought, before Andy Cole made contact.
05:59And if it was, then Dwight York, in a matter of a couple of minutes, has taken his total for
06:05the season to 20.
06:10Both taking up threatening positions.
06:12This is Beckham.
06:13Giggs is also in the penalty area here.
06:15Oh, Neville!
06:17Gary Neville doesn't get many.
06:19But he might have made it 3-0 there.
06:21He started the move, actually.
06:23And he was on the end of it.
06:26And Gary Neville will be pleased with that header.
06:30It brought a good save again out of Matt Clarke.
06:34Oh, they've got men over on the right-hand side here.
06:36This is Giggs.
06:38Beckham with Cole menacingly moving across the box now.
06:42But the...
06:46Matt Clarke had to tip it over from David Beckham.
06:51Well, I may be doing him a disservice in saying I think that was meant to be a cross for
06:55Andy Cole.
06:59Here's Neville.
07:08Here's Keane.
07:12Gary Neville with a run down the right ahead of Beckham.
07:15But he's looking for Cole, who's coming in from this side.
07:17And it was a defensive header by Jamie Lawrence that carried the ball out for a corner.
07:24Bradford will make a substitution at this point.
07:27George Cadet has had a really disappointing afternoon.
07:29He's going off.
07:32And he'll be replaced by Robbie Blake.
07:36In the meantime, it's Manchester United's corner.
07:41Beckham takes it.
07:43Try again.
07:51Scholes!
07:52Scholes!
07:52What a goal!
07:54Real quality there from Paul Scholes.
08:00A volley hit hard and through.
08:03You won't see a better one than this.
08:06The corner pulled deliberately back by David Beckham.
08:08And from 20 yards, Paul Scholes arrows that past Matt Clarke.
08:14A beautiful strike.
08:17Going over his colleague there, Dwight York, and into the corner.
08:23And that surely settles this match.
08:26And you couldn't see a better goal with which to do it.
08:30Scholes the scorer.
08:32Manchester United 3-0 up with 20 minutes to go.
08:36Go!
08:38Go!
08:40Go!
08:41Go!
08:41Go!
08:43Go!
08:44Go!
08:45Turn with Phil Neville going down the outside.
08:48A lot of players coming in from the right-hand flank.
08:52Here's Cole.
08:53This is Beckham.
08:55Oh!
08:56It's four.
08:59David Beckham
09:01takes the score
09:03to where it was at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
09:06Manchester United 4, Bradford City 0.
09:09And this was almost too easy.
09:11There's nobody closing him down here on the 18-yard line.
09:14And the goalkeeper is left standing.
09:18So Beckham,
09:19whose output of goals
09:20three kicks apart
09:22is not
09:23so high
09:24for a man of his reputation.
09:26Certainly gets it on the act here.
09:30Well, the goalkeeper was going the other way,
09:31as a matter of fact.
09:33And the shot came round O'Brien from Beckham.
09:38Well, the yawning gap between
09:39top and bottom in the Premiership.
09:42Sad to say, in many ways,
09:43looks like getting bigger every week
09:45from where I sit.
09:49Tackle.
09:50But,
09:51from Bradford's point of view,
09:53a repeat of what happened at Old Trafford
09:55on Boxing Day.
09:56A 4-0 defeat.
09:57Just emphasising again
09:59the gap in class.
10:00Not just between these two clubs,
10:02but between the top and bottom
10:04of the Premiership.
10:05David Beckham
