00:00This is how you dynamically filter data set based on month.
00:03First, the basics.
00:04If you use a function called month, and if you input the first argument as a series of date like
00:10this,
00:10what it does is that it basically converts like July into 7th, August into 8th, and so on.
00:16But what we want to create is create a condition or a criteria.
00:20We're going to say equal to a numeric value for May, which is down here itself, and hit enter.
00:27So any date that has a value of May will return true.
00:30If it's not May, it will return false like this.
00:34Now, we can use this criteria.
00:36I'm going to copy in a clipboard here, cut it away, and use it with the filter function like this.
00:42So it's an equal filter, open parenthesis.
00:46The first function, the first argument, I'm sorry, will be the data set itself.
00:51And then the second argument is your criteria, which is going to be our month equal H3.
00:57And then if it's true, it's going to return that row.
01:00If it's false, we're going to basically display a no result with three dots, double quote, and close parenthesis.
01:08At this point, you can see that it is working right now.
01:12If I change to June, it will show me only June data.
01:14It will say August.
01:16And if for some reason there's no data in September, it will show as a no result here.
01:20But if you do not like this numeric value 5 to be shown here, there's two ways you can do
01:25it.
01:25The first one, select that cell, press control 1, and basically change the format of the cell to be three
01:31semicolon like this, and it's gone.
01:33But what happens with that is that for some reason, I'm going to put this back in.
01:37For some reason, if you press delete here, it affects the formula.
01:40If you do not like that behavior, what you can do is basically copy this formula.
01:44I'm going to cut it, remove that formula, and basically paste that formula in here.
01:51So instead of reading H4, or rather H3, I'm going to put that formula in there and hit enter, and
01:56it does the same thing as what it was doing just now.
