00:00Woolwich Crown Cause, herd 30-year-old Bartos Poklek from Bexley in south-east London played a leading role in
00:08the online community,
00:09running chat groups and distributing thousands of abuse-on-demand videos and images, which sold for up to $500 at
00:17a time.
00:18He wrote scripts for how the animals should be mutilated, dismembered and tortured,
00:24and directed the way the monkeys would be killed, including them being clubbed to death with a hammer.
00:30Some of the monkeys were also dressed up as babies as they were violently attacked,
00:37sparking growing concerns that the animals are being used as proxies by people who want to view saddest abuse of
00:46children,
00:47and particularly very young children.
00:50On Friday, Poklek was sentenced by Judge Christopher Grout to three years and three months in prison.
00:57The judge said Poklek will be set free after serving only around a third of his prison sentenced,
01:05as he put pressure on Parliament to consider toughening the penalties for animal abuse,
01:12which currently have a five-year maximum.
01:14The judge said if ever there was a case that demonstrates the statutory maximum for animal cruelty is too low,
01:23this is it.
