00:00It's time for some NFL overreaction or reality, and we will start with this.
00:08Overreaction or reality, the Cowboys will finish the season as a bottom three defense.
00:17I think that's reality.
00:19It's going to be difficult work to turn this thing completely around.
00:23And if that's the case, you're not in the playoffs.
00:26If you're a bottom three defense, you can't be in the playoffs.
00:29No matter how good this offense is.
00:32But there's nothing right now that can suggest to me that they can stay the way they are
00:41and get better pass rush and stay the way they are and be better in the secondary.
00:48Now, that being said, Porter didn't play in the Tampa game.
00:52I think that he could have made a big difference in that game.
00:55But my question to you is, if he plays in that game, are they just still picking on Deron Bland?
01:03Well, hopefully that will not be an option.
01:06That's the thing for me is Bland is not in anymore.
01:12And teams look like they're trying to find him on the field and mark him up.
01:17And if that's the case, he can't be on the field.
01:20So one thing I find to be very interesting about all of this is, where do you think the Cowboys
01:25currently rank in points per game allowed?
01:30It feels like, oh man, this is interesting because there have been some high-scoring games this year.
01:35It feels like last, Kevin.
01:37They're 31st in overall defense, that's yardage, but only 25th in points allowed per game.
01:44So only 8th worse.
01:45Now, I realize there's a couple of different factors, partially because you've given up two of the longest drives in
01:50the history of football this year, it feels like.
01:53But...
01:53The Giants and Tampa, yeah.
01:55Yeah, but they're only 25th, which I also would have thought...
02:01I'm sorry, how far are they from, like, do you have the number of points given up is what again?
02:07Yes, their points allowed per game is...
02:13I don't know, where did it just go?
02:14Oh, there we go.
02:1595 points per game.
02:1627.2.
02:17All right, and last place?
02:1932.4.
02:21That's actually pretty bad.
02:22Yeah, that's the Arizona Cardinals.
02:24So you're five spots away from being last, or five points away from being last.
02:27However, if you improve by five points, you're right in the middle of the pack.
02:33And which is all you're asking of them right now.
02:35Now, keep in mind...
02:35Again, but you asked this last year.
02:36Yeah, but I don't want to ignore DVOA or yardage and make it seem like the Cowboys' defense
02:41is really good, because they are not.
02:43All right, I just thought that part was fascinating.
02:46Alec, overreaction or reality?
02:47The Cowboys will finish the season as a bottom three defense.
02:52Overreaction?
02:53Yes.
02:53There's still 12 games.
02:55I don't think it's going to be bottom three.
02:57I don't think it's going to be top half of the league.
02:59You know, I don't think it's going to be a massive jump, but I think you'll see over time
03:03that certain things are getting corrected.
03:06Certain personnel is getting switched out.
03:08And hey, maybe Christian Parker moving to the booth is a huge change.
03:12You see some of the better play callers in the league, like Vic Fangio, are exclusively
03:16coaching from the booth.
03:17Right.
03:17So maybe just a younger voice and younger ideas needs literally a better view of the field.
03:23So that could be all they need.
03:25Maybe that's what the doctor ordered.
03:28NFL overreaction or reality?
03:30The Las Vegas Raiders aren't that good after all.
03:34Um, I'm going to say reality, which might give us the opportunity to see Fernando Mendoza
03:39start before game seven.
03:41Um, and the reason I'm going to say that is because I kept questioning their, their, uh,
03:47schedule leading up to this weekend.
03:49Uh, and then this weekend, the last two weeks have kind of shown you, uh, what they, what
03:55they really are and how far they probably really are away from being a good team.
04:00Cause I thought that Kansas city game was kind of encouraging, but then you just got thumped
04:05by the Patriots.
04:06Yeah.
04:07And, and like, that's tough going, you know, across the coast is not fun.
04:11Uh, but, uh, but that's, that's more of a reality of where you are.
04:16You are not a three and O looking to be five and O team.
04:19You're a three and O team that was more likely destined to be in an eight, a nine and eight,
04:24eight and nine kind of team, which would be a really big jump for them.
04:28Right.
04:28If they were able to turn that around.
04:29I don't think that they're going to lose to the chargers much this year.
04:32Okay.
04:33I mean, nobody does Alec overreaction or reality.
04:36The Las Vegas Raiders aren't that good after all reality, but I reserve the right to change
04:42my mind.
04:42If they beat the bills at home, that's an interesting, that's an interesting thought.
04:47I mean, because it would be tough to be like, they're not that good.
04:51Well, they didn't, they just beat the bills.
04:53Yeah.
04:54That's true.
04:55The bills feel like a superpower to me, even if their defense gives up a million points,
04:59Josh Allen says, I'll score a million and one, right?
05:02Just to piss you off enough and just enough to win a game.
05:06I think the bills are awesome.
05:08So if they beat and that's going to be at Allegiant stadium, if they can do that, then
05:12I'm going to change my mind.
05:14I'm going to act like I never said that.
05:15Okay.
05:16So this kind of piggybacks on that last one.
05:20Adding this performance, the Patriots that is in with their win over Buffalo last week,
05:26the Patriots have restored your faith in them.
05:30Um, reality, but I reserve my right.
05:38I was going to say, that feels like a tenuous reality.
05:40If they lose the Superbowl.
05:42What?
05:42That, if they make it to the Superbowl, that feels like your faith was fairly rewarded.
05:47I don't know.
05:50So, and you know, we also haven't gotten the whole bombshell her side of the story yet.
05:55So once that hits, we really have, we'll have a lot more.
05:58Because that's going to drag this all back into the cycle, right?
06:02Oh yeah.
06:02Because then coach is going to have to worry about answering those questions.
06:06I'm on the hunt for Diana Rossini.
06:08Thanks, Jared.
06:09And I don't, I just, for the record, I don't really understand either one of their sides.
06:14Just like you had an affair, that is your side.
06:17And now you're trying to do better.
06:19Like, why don't you just say that?
06:21I mean, I think you absolutely can say that.
06:24You think she will say that?
06:25No.
06:25Okay.
06:26No, because she hired like a, an elite PR crisis team to help her.
06:30Oh, an elite PR crisis team.
06:32She went out and got like the best PR crisis team out there.
06:35Okay.
06:36To help tell her side of the story.
06:37So once that happens, then maybe, so I'll reserve my right until that bombshell drops.
06:44Okay.
06:45But yeah, right now they look right.
06:47And they're doing it without A.J. Brown.
06:49And they have some other injuries they're dealing with.
06:51And so they're still able to do it.
06:53Alec, overreaction or reality?
06:57Beating the Bills the week before and then thumping the Raiders.
07:00Raiders, this has restored your faith in the Patriots.
07:04Reality.
07:05This is what they were supposed to look like all along.
07:07They were just kind of stumbling a little bit to begin the season.
07:11And what's scaring me is they still can't run the ball.
07:14Right.
07:15And they put up 45 against the Raiders, which again, the Raiders take, take that how you
07:20will.
07:21But once they figure out how to run the ball, they're a little bit beat up in the backfield.
07:25That offense is going to be nice.
07:28Overreaction or reality?
07:29You mentioned him just a minute ago.
07:31Joey Porter Jr. will not miss another game this season.
07:35Oh, overreaction.
07:36Oh, no.
07:37I think that, I just think it's bound to happen.
07:41This is one of those I'll just take the field situations.
07:43Okay.
07:44I don't want him to.
07:48I'd love to have him on the field as much as possible.
07:51The Richard Sherman take, will he come back and be like, you know what, guys?
07:57This whole flu bug really does have everybody.
07:59Or will we never hear about it again?
08:01I think it's going to be that one.
08:03Okay.
08:04All right.
08:04Yeah.
08:04People don't like to bring up when they're wrong.
08:07A, flu season is getting us right now, y'all.
08:10It is after us.
08:11B, it sounds like it's going around the locker room just a little bit right now.
08:16So, or is this good timing for Bland to have the flu?
08:19Is that what you're suggesting?
08:20I mean, I would think it's never good timing to have the flu.
08:23Also, I don't really understand when flu season is.
08:26I feel like anytime people get sick, they're like, it's flu season.
08:29As long as it tests as flu.
08:32Okay.
08:33Right?
08:33Like once that happens.
08:34Dude, I don't know.
08:35The pharmacy's been telling me for a month and a half, hey, don't forget to get your flu shot.
08:39Every time I go to Walgreens, I'm like, I'm here to get a six-pack of beer.
08:43All right?
08:43I'm not here to get a flu shot right now.
08:45You seem like you need a flu shot.
08:46Yeah.
08:47Are you drinking because you're worried about the flu?
08:50We got a shot for you.
08:51If you're not feeling well, that alcohol's not going to help.
08:54Maybe have a shot.
08:55All right.
08:55Let me ask you this.
08:56A flu shot.
08:57You walk into CVS and they show a guy kind of tipsy on a recliner and it's like,
09:03drinking to put away your worries about the flu?
09:05Get your shot today at CVS.
09:07Would you be like, all right, I'll do it?
09:10No.
09:11Oh.
09:12Yeah.
09:12Because, no.
09:14Yeah.
09:15Okay.
09:15You know what?
09:16That's not, that is good.
09:17That's good marketing right there.
09:18It really is.
09:19I mean, it speaks directly to the guy.
09:21It speaks to you.
09:23That's what you just said.
09:24He's just like, man, I might have the flu.
09:26All right.
09:28Alex, same question for you, but instead it's the same guy and it says,
09:31sad that LA Knight didn't win the title, get a flu shot.
09:36I will be the most immune person on planet Earth.
09:40All right.
09:41So we go to you then.
09:43Overreaction or reality?
09:44Joey Porter Jr. will not miss another game this season.
09:48Reality.
09:48I'm going to be positive on this one.
09:50I think I'm with you.
09:51I like Corey's idea of just playing it safe and taking the field because you never know
09:55what's going to happen.
09:56That's probably the smart thing to say, but my mind goes to contract year.
10:01The guy wants to be out there so he can prove that he is deserving of that top of the
10:06market
10:06corner money that the rest of the league doesn't seem to think he's worth.
10:10So I think he knows that.
10:12I think the agent knows that especially.
10:14So I think he wants to be out there for every snap that he can be.
10:17I think it's a really interesting part of this conversation when it comes to the idea of this.
10:22When George Pickens has come to Dallas and the Cowboys have said, prove it twice.
10:28Yep.
10:30But Joey Porter isn't coming here going, well, obviously I'm getting my contract, even though
10:34George didn't.
10:35Right.
10:35Just if I hold out.
10:37No, that's not going to help.
10:38He knows exactly what Alex said.
10:40One of the three great motivators, contract season, revenge, and fun babies.
10:46Those things motivate you.
10:48And the contract season option right here, he sees what's possible, even though he thought
10:54he should have been paid for what he's already done.
10:56Absolutely.
10:57But he also knows that he's getting a fairer shake with, he thinks, with the Cowboys than
11:02he would elsewhere, where he feels hurt by the Steelers.
11:06NFL overreaction or reality.
11:09Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the biggest non-QB draft busts in recent memory.
11:16Man, that whole draft class had some struggles, didn't it?
11:19Yeah, I'll say that because I thought he was the most polished receiver to step foot on
11:23a field right out of college that I'd seen in a long time.
11:27I thought everything I saw in the player, I was like, I can't wait.
11:30And they traded him to the Texans for essentially a second round pick.
11:33I know it's Marvin and a seventh for a second and a sixth.
11:37We'll see how that goes.
11:39Alec, we go to you, overreaction or reality?
11:42Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the biggest non-QB draft busts in recent memory.
11:47Absolute reality.
11:49He was supposed to be one of those game-changing players that lifts your franchise and elevates
11:54it in the ways that you've seen some of these guys recently, like even Puka Nakua, caught
12:0017 passes last night, which CeeDee Lamb, if we're talking about that kind of volume, you
12:05start looking at those guys and you say he was supposed to be as good as them, if not
12:09better, because he had literally every single skill set that you could ask for.
12:15The size at six foot three, massive human that can catch the contested ball, can run away
12:20with it as well.
12:21He had everything and he's shown nothing.
12:23All right, I got one more for you, if you don't mind.
12:27Overreaction or reality?
12:29We're moving it up.
12:30The Los Angeles Chargers will have a top five draft pick.
12:37Yes, reality.
12:39Oh, man.
12:40I mean, the Dolphins still exist.
12:42True.
12:42And the Titans.
12:44That is also true.
12:45Fool.
12:46The Titans are a bunch of clowns.
12:47So now we're already down to three.
12:48Yeah.
12:49But I think the way that they're playing, I don't think that thing's getting turned around
12:53anytime soon, the way that Justin Herbert's playing.
12:55And did you see Harbaugh in the post-game presser?
12:58They're like, what's the message?
12:59And he goes, I don't know what the message is.
13:04That's not what you want to hear.
13:06Level of concern when your coach says, I don't know.
13:09Fool.
13:102,000 pounds.
13:12Fool.
13:13Stop.
13:14All right.
13:15Alec, especially with this new information, overreaction or reality?
13:20The Los Angeles Chargers will have a top five draft pick.
13:26Reality, that's a message I know how to send.
13:28And they're not very good.
13:30And they seem to know it.
13:32And they don't really care to fix it.
13:34I mean, I think something that was so emblematic of their season so far,
13:37Alad McConkie was active for the game on Sunday and didn't play a single snap.
13:42Yeah.
13:42And they're like, we'll use him in an emergency situation.
13:45I feel like you're already in one.
13:47No, if not now.
13:49Win the game.
13:49Win.
13:50Win.
