02:37All right, the latest news break coming in, which have intensified speculations of a possible cabinet reshuffle.
02:43Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L. Murugan, has made a major decision.
02:49He's urged Prime Minister Modi to allow him to work in Kamil Nadu.
02:53Uh, Murugan says,
02:55Pradhan Mantriji, with humility and a grateful heart, I therefore request you to relieve me of my responsibilities as Minister
03:01of State
03:02and permit me to relinquish my membership to the Rajya Sabha so that I may dedicate myself full-time to
03:08strengthen the party in Kamil Nadu.
03:10I want to go to every village, on every street, meet our people, stand beside our karyakartas and help expand
03:16the party's presence in every part of the state.
03:19I want to carry your message of sabka sap, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas to every person
03:24and help every family see its place in the journey towards Viksit Bharat.
03:30Listen in.
03:33Today, I wrote a letter to our Honorable Prime Minister, Srin Narendra Munaji, that I request that you kindly relieve
03:39me from the Rajya Sabha member and Council of Ministers
03:44because I want to work from Kamil Nadu to strengthen the grassroots level to the party because I want to
03:49prepare our party to the 2029 election
03:52because our Honorable Prime Minister continues to be a third-time Prime Minister and our Prime Minister, Viksit Bharat, Visan,
03:58Tamil Nadu is a big state.
03:59From Tamil Nadu, we want to bring sizable members of parliament from Tamil Nadu.
04:06So for that, everyone joined and we will work hard.
04:12All right, so the latest right now coming in, it seems El Murugan has attended in his resignation.
04:19Once again, viewers, the resignation of El Murugan only go on to field speculations of an impending cabinet reshuffle.
04:26Ever since the last couple of months, there has been intense political speculation that there will be a cabinet reshuffle
04:35soon.
04:36And now with the resignation of Mr. Murugan coming in, suggesting that, urging the Prime Minister to relieve him of
04:44all his duties
04:45and as well, allow him to relinquish the post of Rajya Sabha,
04:50the speculations that have been rife for the last couple of months have only been fueled further of a possible
04:59cabinet reshuffle.
05:00We are going to cut across to our BJP reporter who covers the party very closely in just about a
05:06minute.
05:06But I want to bring in my colleague Pramod Madhu first.
05:09Pramod, you know, the name of Mr. El Murugan was already making the rounds that he could be one of
05:16the people who would be stepping down,
05:17especially as Tamil Nadu elections have finished, to make space for further cabinet expansion.
05:25Surely it's pretty and interestingly, this decision has come after the recent visit of the Prime Minister Modi to Tamil
05:30Nadu,
05:31where El Murugan was also part of it and he was actually in every part of the Prime Minister's programs
05:36in his recent visit to Chennai.
05:38And interestingly, he says that he wants to return back to the state's politics, where Naina Nagyav is the president
05:43right now.
05:44But during his visit, El Murugan's period as the state president, there was a kind of a good relationship with
05:49AADMK.
05:50BJP was able to get four MLAs in the state of Tamil Nadu.
05:54So all this is going in favor of El Murugan and he has also had a good stint as the
05:58Minister of the Union in the center as well.
06:01So it looks like after the recent visit of the Prime Minister, El Murugan wants to come back.
06:04And there is also, I mean BJP leaders are very clearly stating that there's a kind of like necessary void
06:10that needs to be filled in the state of Tamil Nadu, considering Annamalai is also not part of the Tamil
06:15Nadu BJP.
06:15And it looks like these are all, we've been told that these could be the many reasons among El Murugan's
06:21decision
06:21to actually go ahead and give his resignation to the Prime Minister now, Priti.
06:26All right. Thank you, Pramut, for joining us with the very latest.
06:29We're going to cut across to our BJP reporter, Piyush Mishra, I believe, is joining us on the phone line,
06:35viewers.
06:36It's all the more interesting because, yes, El Murugan, as Pramut was elucidating here,
06:41has bona fide reasons to step down to strengthen the state unit of BJP in Tamil Nadu,
06:46keeping an eye on elections in 2029.
06:49Having said that, this resignation now has fuelled further speculation of a cabinet reshuffle,
06:55which has already been spoken of in the power circles where Delhi is concerned.
07:00Cutting across to colleague Piyush Mishra on the phone line.
07:03Piyush, is a cabinet reshuffle now on the cards,
07:07considering the first wicket has dropped to make space for further accommodation?
07:13Well, that's right. If we talk about the total number of ministers who are likely to be dropped,
07:19as of now, we can certainly expect eight, according to the strength which was there in Modi government.
07:25Remember that the leaders like Hargeef Singh, Puri, B.L. Barnard,
07:29they have not been given ticket this time, so most likely they are going to be dropped.
07:32Dharmin Pradhan has already resigned.
07:35Apart from that, Ravni Singh, Bittu, and George Kurian, they have also resigned.
07:40And Pankah Chaudhary is now Delhi U.P. B.J.B. President.
07:44Harsh Malhotra is now Delhi B.J.B. President.
07:46And now, when Andrew Murugan has also offered to resign,
07:50it is certainly taking the way for a cabinet reshuffle.
07:54And this reshuffle was also imminent for so long.
07:57And after around eight ministers who are almost out of the Mubri cabinet,
08:03they leave the reshuffle.
08:04And obviously, the government will have to accommodate new places on their places.
08:10Now, we will have to wait and watch how the deliberations are going to take.
08:14Remember that in the past few days, there have been many changes in the sanction of Bharatiya Jantar Party.
08:20Now, it is the chance, it is time for a cabinet reshuffle and most likely reshuffle to happen in a
08:27few days from now.
08:28All right.
08:29So, once again, the way being paved for a cabinet reshuffle, when will it happen is the big question
08:35because there have been intense speculations in the past as well.
08:38Meanwhile, let's quickly shift focus to the latest in terms of opposition politics in the national capital.
08:44We saw yesterday the show of strength by the India Alliance in protest against the chief election commissioner.
08:51Now, after that united march to the Supreme Court,
08:53the India bloc today met over Haiti at LOP Rahul Gandhi's residence,
08:59where Rahul Gandhi stressed after the meeting that their fight against the CEC will continue.
09:05But the BJP has hit back.
09:06The Supreme Court plea is yet to be listed.
09:08And in midst of all of this, other charges have been leveled.
09:22From a march to the top court to Chay Pe Charcha.
09:27After a bid to put up a united fight against CEC Gyanesh Kumar,
09:32leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi hosted India bloc MPs,
09:36civil society members and student organizations for high tea at his new Delhi residence.
09:46They need to understand that the net is closing around them.
09:57It is not going to be so simple that you can destroy the Indian constitution and get away with it.
10:07This meeting comes a day after the opposition submitted a petition in Supreme Court
10:12questioning mass voter deletions under the SIR process
10:15and the functioning of the Election Commission of India.
10:19The plea, however, was not listed for hearing
10:22after the Supreme Court registry flagged 14 defects in the filing.
10:27The BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of making baseless allegations
10:31and questioned why he has not filed even a single affidavit with the Election Commission.
10:50The vote in the
10:53claimant.
11:12But the Congress has hailed the show of strength on Monday, saying it left the BJP vexed.
11:44Amid the political slugfest, a three-month pregnant journalist has alleged that Rahul Gandhi pushed her during the protest.
11:54She was admitted to a Delhi hospital.
12:22The BJP has accused Rahul of behaving like a ghoul.
12:51The Congress claims the BJP is engaging in diversion.
12:58When you are walking on the streets, especially, whoever it is, either the BJP leaders, either
13:03it is the Congress leaders or any personality who walks in the people and people want to
13:07be with him.
13:08And these situations raise with anybody.
13:11So, I request BJP not to do political and such cheap politics will not help them.
13:22From the streets to the Supreme Court, the SIR showdown is showing no signs of slowing down.
13:28Bureau Report, India Today.
13:35All right.
13:35Let's cut across right now to Senior Leader of the Congress and MP Lok Sabha, Mr. Karthi
13:40Chidambaram, who is joining us live.
13:42Mr. Chidambaram, thank you for taking the time out.
13:43I'm sure, Mr. Chidambaram, it was heartening to see the kind of support that you got yesterday.
13:50I think in 12 years, this would be the first time that one saw the kind of numbers that poured
13:56out on the streets of the national capital.
14:02All right, Mr. Chidambaram, I'm sorry, we need to just…
17:56And in Rajasthan, the party has been in the 80% of the population in the 80% of the
18:01population.
18:04I want to tell you that that in Tripura, the government of the government,
18:25government
18:27nda
18:28nda
18:29nda
18:30nda
18:30nda
18:54nda

22:21All right, I want to now cut across to senior Congress leader
22:25who's just come back from the Tea Party of India Alliance MPs and leaders
22:31from Rahul Gandhi's residence, Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram is with us
22:36Mr. Chidambaram, you just heard the Home Minister right there
22:39strong accusations practically suggesting that Rahul Gandhi with a manufactured crowd
22:46cannot, it's an eye wash if he attempts to disseminate the message that people are supporting him
22:53he really needs to work on ground when elections before he creates a propaganda
22:59such as what he calls Jhoot Ki Gunj and the rest
23:06You can't underplay the concerns we are raising
23:12The conduct of the Election Commission, particularly the Chief Election Commissioner is questionable
23:18The Election Commission consists of three Election Commissioners
23:22Decisions have to be taken either unanimously or by majority
23:26It's very clear that the Chief Election Commissioner is taking the decisions unilaterally
23:31They have to prove in the court through their records and minutes
23:36that decisions were taken either unanimously or through majority
23:40The entire SIR process, the engineering and the rollout is also suspect
23:46Particularly Form 6 and 7
23:48We have said this repeatedly a number of times
23:51So we are raising legitimate questions
23:54This is disenfranchising a lot of people
23:58It's also creating many hurdles for people to enroll to vote
24:03Voting is a fundamental right
24:05It is not a gift given by the Election Commission to a citizen of India
24:09So these concerns are legitimate concerns
24:11It's resonating with the people
24:13People have angst on various issues with the government
24:16In my opinion, the SIR is a trigger
24:19And the SIR is triggering a collectiveness within the people
24:23To oppose this government
24:24And to oppose what's happening in governance and in society today
24:29Mr. Shidhamram, the Home Minister would have us believe that your fight against the SIR and the Chief Election Commission
24:36stems from the fact of trying to protect what he labelled as ghuspatias
24:40On the other hand, he right over the last decade has detailed the number of elections that you have lost
24:48and suggested that maybe work hard on ground instead of manufacturing the whole agenda on the basis of your electoral
24:57loss and targeting the Election Commission
25:03See, the lived experience in every state is different
25:08Electorally is different
25:10I'm not going to get into that
25:11But that notwithstanding, there are problems in the SIR
25:15I mean, we can't diminish that, can we?
25:18Can we, you know, sweep it under the carpet?
25:21Can we sweep it under the carpet the fact that the Form 7 is being weaponized?
25:25There have been instances where BJP workers are filing thousands of Form 7s for deletions
25:31Form 7 was not meant for that
25:33Form 7 was meant for households to report if somebody elderly had passed away in their house
25:38Or somebody had moved away
25:39This is being completely misused and weaponized
25:42There have been instances where thousands of applications are being filed by BJP party workers
25:46Today, I read in the papers that 23,000 Form 7 forms are missing
25:50There is no record of them in Karnataka
25:53So, aren't these problems, aren't we as a responsible political party not allowed to raise these issues?
25:59And we are using every forum available to us to highlight this
26:02And this might be skewing elections, might not be skewing elections
26:06That's a separate academy exercise one must carry out
26:09But the point is, the SIR is deeply flawed
26:12It is an exclusionary exercise
26:14It is not an inclusive exercise
26:16It is making it difficult for first-time voters to vote
26:19It's asking questions about whether their parents were voters or not
26:23Your right to vote does not depend on the fact whether your parents voted or not
26:27Your right to vote is a fundamental right which you get the minute you turn 18
26:31Citizen of India and a resident of a constituency
26:34Why are we asking unnecessary questions?
26:37Why is Form 7 being allowed to be misused?
26:39And were decisions in the election commission taken unanimously or by majority?
26:44I mean, these are legitimate questions which we are asking
26:47How can you simply say that, you know, you are losing elections?
26:50Of course, we are losing elections, we are winning elections
26:53I mean, that's part of the democratic process
26:55Doesn't mean that we are not allowed to point out the deficiencies in the system
27:00And the suspicions we have in the way the electoral roll is being prepared
27:06How does that diminish anything we say?
27:08Mr. Chidhamram, the fact is you seem to have, which is the Congress, of course
27:12Gotten under the skin of the Bharatiya Janata Party
27:14Because today itself, we've had two top guns of the BJP political arsenal
27:19Name it, Piyush Goyal, earlier on, who conducted a press conference
27:22And now the Home Minister himself
27:24Who's also, you know, evoked the crowds that gathered yesterday
27:29On your march, or rather, you know, the kind of rally that you took out
27:34To the Supreme Court
27:36Suggesting this was the combined cadre strength
27:39Of ten political parties, regional political cadre
27:43All of them coming together with a crowd which was no more than 8,000 people
27:48So, A, that
27:50And B, if you really want to, you know, muscle flex and show strength
27:55Then go back to the villages
27:57Go back to your district booth levels
27:59And strengthen your party from there
28:05Is the BJP suggesting that the resonance of the issue
28:08Depends on how many people show up for a rally?
28:11I mean, if you, there have been instances
28:13Where BJP has held massive rallies in my own state as well
28:17All completely organized
28:18But they can't win a single seat
28:20I mean, what happened yesterday?
28:22Was civil society coming together?
28:24As I said earlier, the SIR is a trigger
28:26There is a lot of angst in society
28:29The SIR is prompting many people
28:32From many political persuasions
28:33To come together to voice their opinion
28:36Against this government
28:38Against this system
28:39Against, say, the unfairness in the economy
28:42The anomalies in the SIR
28:45The examination process
28:47People have various concerns
28:49But that's how civil protest happens
28:52One event or one issue would be the trigger
28:55But many people will converge
28:59Based on that trigger
29:00To express their angst
29:02And that's what is happening throughout India
29:03People are noticing us
29:04I mean, you are talking about it
29:06No, the question I want to ask you is
29:08Because with what Rahul Gandhi began
29:11That there were non-political people
29:13From all walks of life
29:14Who came in of their own volition
29:15To join this protest yesterday
29:17Something that hasn't been seen in recent years
29:20In terms of the pulling power of the Congress
29:22Would you reckon
29:24That this is also a moment of opportunity
29:27For your political party
29:28To allow it
29:30And to fuel it as a catalyst electorally?
29:36See, it's not just
29:38We are not only looking at electoral success
29:40We are also looking to create forum
29:43To highlight every issue
29:45Which is concerning the people
29:46Because this is a government
29:47Which throttles free speech
29:48Which stifles the opposition voices
29:51It clamps down on anybody who descends
29:54So this is an expression
29:56This is an expression of society
29:58Against that stifling atmosphere
30:00And people are congregating
30:02Perhaps under the leadership
30:04Of the Congress party
30:05Perhaps the trigger is a issue
30:07Which is concerning the election commission
30:09But that's not the only reason
30:11Why people show up
30:11People show up
30:12Because they are generally unhappy
30:13Because they want to speak
30:15I mean, otherwise
30:16Why would sitting judge of the Supreme Court
30:18Express his displeasure?
30:19Why would a former judge
30:20Express his displeasure?
30:21Why would people of all political persuasions
30:23Even political parties
30:24Which oppose us in many states
30:26Come together on this platform
30:28Because they all want to have a free society
30:31And that is what is lacking
30:32Really, people are not just fighting the SIR
30:34They are fighting for a free society
30:38I'm going to ask you one final question
30:39Mr. Chidhamram
30:40Before I let you go
30:42Just this political moment
30:44How do
30:45Because, you know
30:45You've been watching your own party
30:47Over the course of the last 12 years
30:49Where you have been in the opposition
30:50Is this political moment different
30:53From the others you've seen in the past?
30:55And if so, how?
30:59See, this
31:00We seem to have caught the imagination of the people
31:04I think the fact that
31:06How this government reacts to dissent and protest
31:09That has also galvanized people
31:12To all come together
31:13In my opinion
31:14Yes, this is an inflection point
31:16But this needs to be built
31:17We need to communicate more
31:19Carry more people forward
31:21And then we'll have to see
31:22How they translate electorally
31:24Because electoral politics
31:25I would not immediately translate this
31:27Into some sort of electoral victory
31:29But that's a long way to go
31:30We have many state elections are coming
31:32And the grammar in each state
31:34Is different from another state
31:36So we have to see
31:36But this is definitely a catalyst
31:38For people who are unhappy
31:40With what's happening there
31:42Who are people who are unhappy
31:43About business as usual
31:44People who value a free society
31:47More than anything else
31:48I think it's not the SIR
31:49It is the congregation of people
31:51Who believe in a free society
31:54Coming together
31:55That's how I see this
31:56All right, Mr. Chidambaram
31:57Thank you there for joining us
31:58And taking the time out
31:59I know you've just come in
32:00Post the high tea
32:02Hosted by Mr. Gandhi
32:03Thank you there
32:04What I'm going to do is
32:05I'm going to cut across
32:06Back to the Home Minister
32:07On some big attacks today
32:10Political attacks
32:11Mounted by no one else
32:12But the Home Minister himself
32:14On the opposition
32:15Especially Rahul Gandhi
32:17Listen in
32:17Listen in
32:19Listen in
32:47My husband is the secondää
33:00To be with people
33:01This is the first place
33:03You also have to be with approval
33:07All right, Mr. Gandhi
33:11You know you need to do a lot of information
33:13To be with ש
33:13What is your question?
33:16It is a lot of information
33:35All right, let's get in more reactions.
33:37Joining me now is Lahar Singh Seroia, Rajya Sabha MP, Bharati Ajanta Party.
33:42Mr. Seroia, thank you for taking the time out and joining us.
33:45You just heard the Home Minister there as well, and you also have heard the Congress Party.
33:50The fact is, the Congress is very clear that the issue is against the functioning of the SIR.
33:55Whether they've won elections, whether they've lost elections,
33:58has no bearing on the fact that there are glaring lapses on the functioning of the Election Commission,
34:04which needs explanation by the CEC and the Election Commission itself.
34:14Anu?
34:15Sir, can you hear me?
34:16Hello?
34:17Can you hear me, Mr. Seroia?
34:20Aha.
34:22I can hear you.
34:23A little bit of volume.
34:26Can you hear me, sir?
34:27Okay, if you can hear me, Mr. Seroia.
34:28Hello?
34:29You just, can you hear me?
34:30All right, we're going to try and correct.
34:32You can hear me.
34:33All right.
34:34Mrs. Seroia, my first question is, you heard the Home Minister and the Congress now.
34:38Now, the Congress is very clear.
34:40They say electoral defeat in the past has no bearing on the Election Commission and the functioning of the Election
34:48Commission.
34:49They are clear that the EC is compromised.
34:52They say even the elections that happened where they have won, where the Congress has won, those elections also need
35:00to be questioned.
35:01Because the system, the constitutional body is completely compromised and broken.
35:11Look, Congress and Rahul Gandhiji are not wanted to see their eyes and their eyes and eyes and eyes, but
35:20they said,
35:25I would like to say that in 2014, when the Congress had the lowest seat in its life was 44
35:38seats.
35:40There were Congress in Delhi.
35:44and in other countries, either Congress or the government of the government, our government
35:51was in a very small area. What was the result of that? We had 82 seats, and they went
35:57to Chamaali. They lived in West Bengal, Urisah, in the U.P. or Urisah.
36:06I remember that I had a share of the people who lived in the lives of their lives in their
36:14lives.
36:16I was not aware of that.
36:19And particularly the Gandhi people, the people who understand that,
36:23the people who say that they are 100 times,
36:27the people who say that they will be honest.
36:28The people who say that,
36:31foreign
36:43foreign
36:44I would like to say that today, what I saw yesterday,
36:49which is how our Adhani Shri Kumar Ji was with our leader.
36:56I am talking about the big deal in Congress,
36:59but from South they have been allergic to them.
37:01That the leader of the leader of the leader of the Ghandi family always humiliated.
37:06Adhani Nizlingapha Ji, who was the leader of the leader,
37:09and then the party broke into Indira Gandhi's party.
37:17After that, Indira Gandhi gave his life to Indira Gandhi in the election during the election of Chek Mangalur.
37:25During the day and night, he had won him, when our country was our government.
37:29in that time, the mighty chief minister of Karnataka was given to him.
37:40After that, he took a picture of the Virendra Patilji, and he took a picture of the Virendra Patilji.
37:55foreign
38:26foreign
38:28foreign
38:28And also, the women who were leading the lead to a girl, and she also did the same thing as
38:33Pranjika ji.
38:35I understood that Rahul Gandhi said that Pranjika ji would do the same thing.
38:38So, what was the result of this?
38:40And now this is the same thing that they are doing competition with Abhijid Dipke.
38:48The competition is going on in the process of competition.
38:50We can take the position of our official office.
38:59Thank you for giving us your point of view.
39:03I want to quickly cut across to Vijay Reddy Malangi, spokesperson, Kokoro Janta Party.
39:09Vijay, the fact is, I believe your three leaders are still in detention.
39:14But a bigger question, Vijay, which beckons to be answered by the Kokoro Janta Party.
39:19Neha Bora, who was protesting alongside you, now stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka
39:26Gandhi.
39:27What stops the CJP of not merging, but standing with the opposition today?
39:33And why carry out a parallel protest?
39:37We are standing with them. We are standing with every protester.
39:42We are standing with every organization, civil society and political party organization.
39:45You should find the difference that when a political party does an organized protest, they bring in their own cadre.
39:52Whereas CJP has a different approach.
39:54CJP has a much more goodwill that brings in people coming in on their own.
40:01So this is two different types of crowds that come into a protest.
40:05And as you can see, we have done our mass mobilization on the 10th of October, which was completely, you
40:13could see the entire Luteans Delhi was barricaded on that day.
40:16And we have gone on to ask for the permission, like the police were requesting us to.
40:22And subsequently, the order came out, which denotifies Jantar Mantar as the designated protest site.
40:28So we are, in fact, strategizing it together.
40:31You could look at it that way, rather than pitting us against each other.
40:34This is something that October 12th was a call given by the India bloc opposition.
40:39And whereas on the October 13th, we did a flash protest and we marched into Jantar Mantar and reclaimed that
40:45space.
40:46And we have waved the Indian flag at Jantar Mantar.
40:49Were you invited today for tea at Rahul Gandhi's residence because he said all other civil society members, other protest
40:57groups should come?
41:00We are in communication with the political parties, all the like-minded political parties.
41:06But at this moment, we don't want to be seen with the political, we don't want to have a political
41:13affiliation.
41:14We want to remain an apolitical pressure group.
41:17So our volunteers who came to Delhi in large numbers have participated.
41:22And we as a team were strategizing as to what our plan of action is going to be.
41:27Vijay, what's the next course of action?
41:29Your leaders are now still in jail.
41:32Is there going to be another clarion call for protest?
41:36Yes.
41:36What concerns to me and to all of the youngsters of this country is how the government is,
41:41by denotifying Jantar Mantar, it indirectly wants to say that it is denotifying dissent in this country.
41:47And it won't take them long to denotify the constitution as well.
41:51See, Jantar Mantar for very long has been a place of dissent and it has to be in Lutians Delhi.
41:57When the people who are elected by the public can stay in Lutians Delhi,
42:02why can't the people who want to protest, protest in Lutians Delhi?
42:05So they want to move us to a farther distance, which we won't accept.
42:09Our demand to protest at Jantar Mantar will stay valid.
42:12And yes, within the next couple of days, we're going to give a call for a nationwide mobilization towards Jantar
42:17Mantar again.
42:18All right. So the nationwide call for mobilization towards Jantar Mantar yet again, despite of it being denotified.
42:26Thank you, Vijay, for joining us and taking the questions with that.
