00:01Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Basasa in opening the joint police post in Signal Hill Tobago
00:07reiterated the over 700 million in overtime payments to police officers between January
00:122024 and August 2026 as well deserved. Commissioner police is here with us and I'm
00:19very happy he joined us. Can you put your hands together for the best commissioner of police I
00:24have ever worked with. I have worked with many so thank you Commissioner. The numbers you gave me
00:31I'm glad you raised them but share with us finally those are very encouraging very heartening. I
00:36repeat what I've said that the TTPS officers deserve every penny and cent they get for the
00:43overtime they're doing. Minister Alexander made a point when you family member is in trouble you
00:50think you're worrying or you're paying them prices or tens of the police you just wish the police would
00:55be there. The Prime Minister said there would be an increased recruitment of police officers.
01:02Meantime Police Commissioner Alastair Guevara spoke to the opening of police posts
01:06throughout the country as a crime-fighting mechanism.
01:12Stronger partnerships with communities and a relentless operational focus on a reduction in crime. So I'd just like to thank
01:20all the members of the public for joining us here today in opening this arm of this initiative to bring
01:29police in closer to the public.
01:31And I can tell you when you come up over the calendar week I'm looking forward to meeting with you
01:36because we are ready with our proposal that we spoke about considering the use of SRPs and localised police forces
01:43to be ready for you and you will have some additional strength to be able to man your posts and
01:49be grateful.
01:50Thank you very much.
