Septembre a été une véritable avalanche de jeux vidéo, et c'est dans ce déluge que The Blood of Dawn Walker a retenu mon attention.

00:00Let's face it, this September was generous in terms of video games, to the point where I
00:03I've fallen behind on absolutely all the games, whether it's Onimusha, Wolverine Control Resonance, or even The Blood
00:10of Dawn Walker.
00:10It's fair to say we were spoiled before Christmas; in fact, it's during this very busy month that
00:14I decided to dedicate my time to The Dawn Walker, because out of all the games I've just...
00:18To quote you, it's the only one from whom I expected quite a lot.
00:21And after completing absolutely every ending I could find and quite a few side quests, I
00:25I believe I am entitled to offer you a much broader and more detailed perspective on my experience with The
00:31Blood of Dawn Walker.
00:51But first, before we begin, we need to provide some context: what is The Blood of Dawn Walker?
00:56Well, to put it simply, you are a Vesperal, in other words, by day you are a man, the
01:00At night you are a Vampire.
01:01Of course, your abilities will change depending on whether it's day or night.
01:05During the day, you will be able to use magic, while at night, you will only be able to use these
01:10vampiric abilities.
01:11Every action you take during your adventure will cost you time.
01:13And on top of that, you have 30 days to save your family from the clutches of the big bad Brenn.
01:186.
01:18So, you have two choices: save your family or take revenge on Brenn 6 by going
01:23kill absolutely every Vrakir you come across on your path.
01:26Okay, I'm going to be honest with you.
01:27On paper, the idea is quite good.
01:29But personally, I found the finish to be a bit poor.
01:33For what ?
01:33First of all, we are limited by time.
01:35Therefore, we cannot complete all the quests that the game offers.
01:38And that, in itself, I find unfortunate.
01:39Creating such a vast and complete lore and not being able to enjoy it is annoying.
01:43Because if you're a player like me who loves and understands each character's story, when they are
01:47Given what they've become, you're inevitably forced to do several runs.
01:51And let's be honest, between you and me, do you have the time for that?
01:54Most of you will tell me no.
01:56And that's normal.
01:57And that's where I'm going to pick up on what disappointed me the most about this game.
02:00Because even when you dedicate all that time to it, meaning you complete quite a few quests
02:04In the appendices, we meet all the secondary characters, namely Lakra, Akna or Ral.
02:08And above all, we experience every ending the game can offer, putting everything together, and well, we...
02:13realizes that the scenario isn't all that terrible.
02:16In fact, I'm going to go even further.
02:18I found Dawn Walker's story a bit slow-paced, especially Brancis's, who...
02:22Let's face it, I think most of you, when you watch thrillers, at first glance, you think,
02:26This villain is incredibly badass; I have a feeling this is going to be a protagonist who will leave a lasting impression.
02:30And actually, not at all.
02:30The more you play and learn about him, the more uninteresting he becomes.
02:35Afterwards, it's true, he has a rather sad backstory, but that's part of the game and, having reviewed it, a man in
02:39The quest for power, that's it, it's not exactly highbrow.
02:42In fact, while playing, I got the impression that the character is just a villain for the sake of being
02:46a villain.
02:47And even the Vrakir, I mean, their story, it's not exactly groundbreaking.
02:50Finally, apart from Xanté's, although her choices are morally questionable, it remains the most consistent in the
02:55band.
02:56But Ambrus and Vakir, frankly, I don't know who wrote these characters, but it's disappointing.
03:00And I won't say too much so that you can form your own opinion if you want to play.
03:03Let's play, okay?
03:04But personally, it's very average.
03:06And yet, let's push the envelope a little further.
03:08If it were just the script, if there were a few shortcomings, I would have thought, there
03:11There are other aspects in which this game is good.
03:13But even the open world aspect didn't convince me.
03:15First of all, I found that it was sorely lacking in racial diversity.
03:18Even though they made the effort by adding the URIH and the facts, well, know that
03:22I have just literally quoted the only two races in the game.
03:25In my humble opinion, they should have gone a little further.
03:28And even the map, no, seriously, the way it's put together, it's based on a similar formula.
03:32to that of Zayouture 3.
03:33There are question marks all over the map with various activities, such as attacking a bandit camp,
03:39following footprints, rescuing people in distress, and activating stelae that allow both to
03:43to be able to teleport and also to learn skills.
03:46Besides, skills that we learn by wasting time, you heard right, I didn't quite understand the
03:51The concept is, for me, the worst idea, but I saw it in a game.
03:54Knowing that time is the most precious thing, why waste it on a machine?
03:59which will allow us to gain power and therefore complete quests much faster and
04:03a more efficient way.
04:04In short, for me, I found it completely useless, but fortunately its vampiric form except clearly as a game.
04:10The ability to traverse the map in wolf form, walk on walls, teleport to the
04:14roof, controller in hand, it's a pleasure.
04:16However, speaking of movement, I found it strange that there were absolutely no mounts.
04:20However, in the trailers, they could be seen, and now they have completely disappeared.
04:23Okay, maybe it's a game design choice, you might say, but I find it funny to
04:26not to see it, especially in its historical context.
04:28Regarding its day and night system, it's quite enjoyable, accompanied of course by a change in quests.
04:33as well as the gameplay, as I told you at the beginning.
04:35And now, I think it's a good time to also talk to you about the gameplay, because I have a lot
04:39there are things to say about the gameplay.
04:41First, I'll start by talking about the camera, because the camera during combat is really...
04:46A horror.
04:47When you are facing only one opponent, let's say it's manageable.
04:50When you find yourself facing 3 or 5 enemies at the same time, who often have incomprehensible patterns.
04:56At this point, I can guarantee you that it's starting to cause some friction.
04:58Because yes, if you're facing knights, bandits, basically anything that's left in
05:03You can still manage to get by with the human bestiary.
05:05But once you're face to face with bears, wolves, or even ghosts, good luck.
05:09I thank his vampiric form once again, except literally for the gameplay, with much more varied skills than in his
05:16human form on a personal basis.
05:18Firstly, you can attack enemies from behind, which is not the case in your human form.
05:22You can also bite your enemies while healing yourself, which is very useful in combat.
05:27In any case, I think you'll have understood from this video what literally saves the game, according to
05:32For me, it's his vampiric form.
05:33And I'm really emphasizing this mechanic, because apart from that, I wasn't impressed.
05:37through play, as others may have been.
05:38The only good point I can give it is its staging, which I find quite
05:42friendly.
05:43And I'm thinking in particular of the prologue, which I found absolutely superb.
05:46But unfortunately, that wasn't enough to convince me.
05:49However, I am not opposed to a second installment.
05:52I think it has an interesting lore to exploit, which would be good to explore further in the next title.
05:56But once again, I'm still disappointed.
05:58I also think that we have a real attachment to The Witcher 3, other than the map, especially regarding the
06:03music, with the the the the the the the the.
06:04Okay, fine, I don't mind it, I know what you're going to say too, that this game
06:08It was made by former developers of The Witcher 3.
06:11But I sincerely hope that they will move away from that in their next titles.
06:16In any case, tell me in the comments what you think of the game.
06:18This was J. Chris, ciao.
