00:00Adam, hi. A tough day out on Saturday, but what's been the reaction?
00:06We've had some words with the manager and the players.
00:11Very disappointing with our performance.
00:15The players take full responsibility for that.
00:20We're really looking forward to this game.
00:22Your manager said you weren't ready. Why do you think that was?
00:28I mean, tactically, we were ready, but I don't think as a team, as players, mentality-wise, I don't think
00:36we were there, which is, that's on us, and it won't happen again.
00:41A chance to put it right, in Europe, a different competition, you've got good memories from last time out, and
00:47you're at home, playing a home European game for the first ever time. Can that be a shot in the
00:51arm?
00:53Yeah, to be honest, we wish the game was today. We've trained hard the past few days, and yeah, it's
01:00going to be a game that's going to be tough, but one that we're going to make sure we perform.
01:05Can you give us an idea of what European football means to you, the club, the fan base?
01:10I mean, yeah, for the club and the fans, it's amazing for them. As a player, it's obviously nice to
01:16play in, but it's just another game for me and the lads, and one that we're focusing on, and hopefully
01:24we can get the three points.
01:25It promises to be a cracking atmosphere, an extra couple of thousand fans as well, under the lights. Can that
01:30play a big part for you guys?
01:32Yeah, I'm sure that the fans will be there with us, supporting us, especially after a disappointing weekend, so we're
01:39going to need them.
01:41And at the end of the day, it's us to bring the atmosphere and bring the performance on the night.
01:48Jordan?
01:51Adam, just a couple from me. The two corners are going to be open for the first time. I wonder
01:55if you could take us back to 2010 when you first arrived and what the stadium looked like then.
01:59Yeah, not great.
02:00How are you starting to see it look now, and maybe what difference do you think it might make to
02:04the atmosphere?
02:04Yeah, obviously it's more fans in the stadium, and like we said before, it's a big night for the club,
02:12and I'm sure it can bring a little bit more atmosphere to the game.
02:16Remind us what it looked like that day. I imagine it was only three sides, was it?
02:19No, when I was here, it had all four sides, so I'm pretty sure when I was alone, it had
02:26all four sides.
02:28I thought it went up for the Real Madrid game, so when you first arrived, it might have been three.
02:31I wasn't there, yeah.
02:32Before then?
02:33No problem. You're leading Bournemouth out as well for the first time. I know we spoke to you about doing
02:38that in Spain, if you're selected.
02:40If you are, what will it mean to you from a personal point?
02:43Yeah, obviously Spain was a proud moment for me and the family. Again, if selected, it would be another proud
02:51moment to lead them out in the home game, so I'm more focusing on the performance and getting the lads
02:58going.
02:59He's selected.
03:02Okay, Nico?
03:03Do you remember when you played in that first game in 2010?
03:08No idea.
03:09No idea?
03:09No idea. Can you remind me?
03:11I can't remember.
03:11No, you don't.
03:12I can't remember when you made it. It's so long now.
03:15Yeah, no, no.
03:15I'm sure I was there.
03:17How much homework have you done on Sturm Gratius? You've got very little room in between managers, and then you're
03:24going into Europe as a player, and obviously you look to your manager for...
03:29Yeah, obviously. Gaffer knows more about them than the lads. He's shown us some videos, so they look a real
03:36good team, high-pressing team. It's going to be a tough game. It is going to be a tough game,
03:41and we know that. We know that as players that we need to perform, and I know we will.
03:48I know you take your matches very seriously and what you give to the club. How angry were you by
03:55that performance? Was that one of the most angriest you've been?
03:58Yes. Like I said before, as players, we let ourselves down. Similar to the game, Brentford away last season, Boxing
04:12Day felt similar. Look, it happens. The teams, it happens to players. Everyone can have it off day.
04:20We've spoke as players, and we know what's needed on Thursday.
04:28Adam, I was going to ask about the Brentford game, because mine and Chrissy said to me afterwards that there'd
04:33be words in the changing room, and you felt that you could use that like you did the Brentford game.
04:38Obviously, you only lost once after that game last season.
04:42Yeah.
04:43What's the sort of talk? Has that been brought up in the dressing room amongst the group?
04:47Well, it obviously was a private conversation, but there was some obviously words said. We've been here before. We normally
04:56get a very good reaction after a loss like that. So that's what we've been working on in these past
05:01few days, and that's what we're going to do on Thursday.
05:03And as the captain, with sort of senior members of the squad like Ryan and players that have been there
05:10and done it before, how important have you been as a leadership group to make sure that the standards are
05:15staying really high and you get the response that you need?
05:18Yeah, like you said, it's not just my responsibility. It's the senior lads as well that's obviously helping myself and
05:24the other lads make sure standards don't slip, which they haven't.
05:27We had it off day. And yeah, it's about reaction and we need a positive reaction on Thursday.
05:35And obviously, it's two big games this week and a really hectic run. How important will we be getting the
05:41positive reaction and a big result tomorrow leading into Sunday?
05:44Yeah, just our focus is Thursday. We're not looking beyond that. We need to perform, get the result and then
05:51we can look forward.
05:53Anything at the back?
05:54Yeah, where does this rank in your achievements for playing for Bournemouth?
05:59That's a good question.
06:04Obviously, it's up there, but it's not number one. Obviously, the first promotion, I think, was the best achievement, but
06:11it's certainly up there.
06:13And looking at the club as a whole, can you believe how far the club has come?
06:16Not really. When I first joined, no, I'd never expected to be playing in Europe and finishing the top six
06:24last season and performing at this level.
06:27So, yeah, I would never have believed it.
06:32Hi, Marco. How's things on the injury front?
06:37It's getting better. So, we're looking forward to have Amin and Justin back in the squad tomorrow.
06:49That's great news, isn't it? Finally?
06:52Yeah, great news. We miss them. We miss Junior Kruppi. We miss Alex Scott.
06:57But, again, even Junior is back on the pitch. So, maybe in a few weeks we have him as well.
07:10And, yeah, it's quite important for us to have this kind of players. They can make the difference. But tomorrow,
07:18we play without him.
07:20Any new knocks from Chelsea? Any new injuries?
07:24No new injuries. No problems. Some players were a little bit ill and sick the last couple of days, but
07:32all in a good spot.
07:34We just heard from Adam there. He seemed quite angry about that performance against Chelsea. What have you seen reaction
07:41-wise from the players? I know you haven't had a lot of time, but what have you noticed?
07:44He said the right things. We want to show and we have to show a reaction. For me, maybe the
07:51only good thing out of this game is that we got a real slap result-wise.
08:00Yes. If you start a game at Chelsea like we started, the task is getting much more difficult. It's a
08:11tough challenge there. But if you start like this, it's getting much more difficult.
08:16We didn't broke down as a team, really. Even we conceded five goals. We have to say that nearly every
08:24chance or every shot on our goal was a goal.
08:29But I think even I felt after the game that everyone were really disappointed and the games before we always
08:39spoke about our performances, how good they were, and we didn't get enough points out of it.
08:45Now we got a real slap, and now we have to show a reaction.
08:49Adam says they've exchanged some quite honest words. Have you had to speak sternly to the players?
08:56We always speak together and with each other. I think this is the most important thing, even in these times.
09:02We have to stick together. We are in a not-so-comfortable situation point-wise in the Premier League.
09:10I think we know that we are able to get points out of games. We know that we can perform
09:15well. We know that we are confident enough.
09:19And again, for me, it's now about proving these kinds of things again. We did it already.
09:27But the point is that we need on the level we compete. We need results. We need points.
09:35And how big is a win for you personally as well? Early in your tenure, people start to question you
09:40early on. How important is that?
09:42Yeah, that's how it works. I mean, three weeks ago, we spoke about how well we performed. You see what
09:51we want.
09:51And the games were quite tight. We just dropped points because of individual mistakes or late goals.
10:02And if you don't get results, there are always questions from every side.
10:08And that's what I deal with, what we have to deal with. And it's okay for me.
10:14And that's why the only answer is a result.
10:20Yeah. And in the best case, with a really good performance as well.
10:25And it's a big night for the club in terms of the history and the journey it's been on.
10:30How much of that can you relate to, understand?
10:34And is it something you're looking forward to being a part of?
10:37I understand it very well because, again, I know the club now much, much better.
10:46I know the history and it's an outstanding journey.
10:54The club had the last years with all the things the club suffered, the club relegated, the club promoted.
11:04The club played Premier League, grew up, and now we are playing Europe.
11:11And we have to find the balance.
11:13Even this is a big job this season for us between, as you said, our bread and butter.
11:21This is the Premier League, and then I think the European competition.
11:27And we said we want to compete everywhere.
11:29That's still the plan. We stick to the plan.
11:31And tomorrow we have the chance to show our club the first time at home in European football.
11:39It's a big thing.
11:40Can you use that potential emotion as a motivation?
11:45The Lads have to use it. That's the most important thing.
11:48I think everyone is excited. Everyone is looking forward to this game.
11:52And now we have to use it on the right way against a tough opposite.
11:59Welcome.
12:00Marco, you've experienced them before.
12:02What are home European nights like in terms of occasion and atmosphere?
12:06What can Bournemouth fans who will be coming to one for the first time at Dean Court Vitality Stadium expect
12:12tomorrow night?
12:15They expect, they can expect a team that shows a reaction again against a tough opposite.
12:23And the other thing is about our fans.
12:28We need them tomorrow to collaborate, to do the things together, to play well, to show emotions, to stick together,
12:45play the game together.
12:46And if we do it on the right way and well, it could be a really, really brilliant night for
12:51us.
12:51It's been a long time since an Austrian Bundesliga side has beaten English opposition in European football.
12:58You know that league well.
13:00Now you've had a few games in the Premier League.
13:02How do you compare the two in terms of standard?
13:05The Austrian league improved a lot the last couple of years, and especially this team, Storm Graz.
13:12When I was a manager in Salzburg, we won, I think, 10 titles in a row and the most cups.
13:20And we played several times the European league, afterwards the Champions League.
13:25And it was mostly about Salzburg.
13:28But then Storm Graz and Las Glintz, yeah, came up and they won the last two titles.
13:37Last season it was Las Glintz, but the years before.
13:41They are experienced in the Champions League.
13:44They played Champions League two years.
13:47And they, yeah, they are competitors.
13:50It's a quite good team.
13:52Like Smudge said, high pressing, really intense.
13:57So it's close to the Premier League level.
14:01And we need to be ready tomorrow.
14:04You've mentioned already that you'll have Amin and Justin Kluivert back available.
14:08But those two in particular, how important is it given their experience of European football in the past as well?
14:13Oh, it's good.
14:14Even to have them in the locker room tomorrow night, it's important for us experienced players, high quality players.
14:22They are ready for some minutes, not for a whole game, not for 45, but for some minutes.
14:30And I'm quite happy to have them back.
14:33I know you don't have Alex Scott available, but there were some stories that emerged last night saying the club
14:37are open to selling him in January.
14:40How involved have you been in discussions around Alex's future, maybe once the next transfer window opens?
14:46What's your understanding of the situation?
14:48We just closed the other transfer window and we talk about the next one.
14:53So I'm just focused and we as a club, we are just focused on the game tomorrow, on the upcoming
15:01game in the Premier League and not commentating rumours.
15:07They show up right after the last transfer window closed.
15:12Is the timing frustrating, though, that the stories have come out now, given Alex's injury?
15:18No, it's not frustrating anyway for us because, I mean, I told you that Alex Scott is going to stay
15:26in summer.
15:27Even we got questions over questions every press conference for I don't know how many weeks.
15:32He's a player of our club and now he's injured.
15:37We are looking forward to have him back in a couple of days or weeks and then we continue with
15:44Alex Scott.
15:46And he's quite committed and that's why everyone could see the first games.
15:54Do you feel the European campaign can kickstart a great season?
15:59Always.
15:59Every game could give you a boost and every win is important.
16:07It's important to get results.
16:10If not, you get questions.
16:14And do you have a message for the Bournemouth fans ahead of the match tomorrow?
16:18Yeah, that everyone in the club is looking forward to have this night tomorrow.
16:23Even the guys at home, they have no tickets.
16:28I think it's a big, big achievement.
16:30And we were waiting for these games, for this kind of games.
16:34And even we have a difficult situation in the Premier League.
16:38We should stack together like we did.
16:41It's a big strength of the club to do the things in a right way, to stay calm, to believe
16:47in our strengths.
16:50That's what we do together with our fans.
16:53Our fans play an important role in this kind of stuff.
16:57And that's why I'm happy for the club, for us.
17:02And I'm looking forward to have this game tonight, tomorrow.
