00:00In 2000, the high-end Pentium 4 was released at $819.
00:04Intel dominates the market and the race is all about the number of MHz.
00:08But this architecture, Netburst, gets very hot and eventually reaches its limit.
00:13Intel then changed course with cores, then was born with AI in 2008.
00:17The price of the high-end processor drops to $284 and computer sales skyrocket.
00:22from 135 million per year in 2000 to 353 million in 2011.
00:25From 2011 to 2017, Intel made progress in small steps, from one generation to the next.
00:31The price remains stable, around $330 to $350.
00:35while the PC market is slowing down, mainly due to smartphones and tablets.
00:39Then AMD returned in 2017 with Ryzen.
00:43Intel responds by offering more cores, but the price goes back up, to $488 in 2018.
00:49then $589 with cores in-off starting in 2021.
00:53That year, Aldelec introduced hybrid architecture, with powerful cores and energy-efficient cores.
00:58Not everything is to Intel's advantage.
01:00The company experienced significant delays in its engraving process.
01:03and its 13th and 14th generation processors have had instability problems,
01:07largely fixed in 2024 by updates.
01:11A point of method.
01:12These prices are launch prices in dollars, not taking inflation into account.
01:16And the decline in PC sales has several causes.
01:18So I'm not saying that the price increase is responsible.
01:21What we can say is that Intel has gone from a dominant position to genuine competition.
01:25and that this competition has benefited users,
01:28with more heart and more power for a comparable price.
01:31It's up to you to form your own opinion.
01:33Thank you for listening.
01:35THANKS.
01:35THANKS.
