The San José Municipal Council has officially decided to investigate the controversial entry of businessman Juan Carlos Tan into their facilities just days before his arrest. This preliminary investigation, approved with a unanimous 10-vote decision, aims to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding Tan's visit on September 29th and the purpose behind his presence.

A council member reported encountering Tan in a hallway, where the businessman allegedly inquired about managing the local bullring during the upcoming holiday season. This has raised significant alarm, given Tan's alleged ties to major money laundering operations linked to international drug trafficking.

The council believes it's crucial for the municipality to disassociate itself from individuals with such serious accusations. Therefore, the internal audit will thoroughly examine who Tan met with, the reasons for his visit, and the nature of their discussions, ensuring transparency for the public. Tan was subsequently arrested on October 2nd following an extradition request from the United States, which implicates him in international drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. He is currently in provisional detention.
