00:00If you look over my right shoulder, you'll see Gibraltar Falls, one of the Canberra region's best-known waterfalls.
00:07However, for the last three and a half years, this roadside stop has provided the only and best view of
00:15the falls.
00:19This long closure follows the tragic deaths of two visitors within a single week back in February 2023.
00:26Since then, gates have been locked while the government instores extensive safety barriers.
00:31When it reopens, the infamous infinity pool, once promoted worldwide as a selfie hotspot, will be strictly off-limits.
00:39An ACT government spokesperson confirmed new fencing is being erected to completely restrict access to that area.
00:47But an equally as big transformation is happening just down the road at the popular Woods Reserve campground.
00:54The entire picnic and camping precinct is getting a massive overhaul featuring brand new modern amenities.
01:01We're talking upgraded hot showers, fully accessible toilets, refreshed camp kitchens and brand new all-weather picnic shelters.
01:10The government estimates the upgraded precinct will reopen in early 2027, which means the wait is almost over.
01:19It won't be long until we can once again enjoy this stunning part of our region.
01:25Just remember to play it safe out there.
