00:00He is special.
00:11Wherever you see, you see something different in this horse.
00:14You cannot see another horse.
00:23I was the yearling manager at the time
00:26that Flightline sold as a yearling and went up to Saratoga.
00:30And I remember going over to Summerwind Farm
00:33to see him just before he went up to Saratoga.
00:36And I remember coming away going,
00:38that's a special horse over there.
00:40First time I met Flightline that was in Saratoga.
00:43So when we started walking those horses,
00:46we see something very amazing.
00:48The way he was looking, the way he was walking.
00:51We got to the ring and I was excited
00:53and one day people started betting and see the price.
00:56And I was like, oh, this is good.
00:58All through, all done.
00:59Last call.
00:59$1,025,000.
01:00$1,025,000.
01:02Now I'm ready to get that $1,025,000.
01:04And I have $1,000,000 in the back.
01:06I remember people talking about him,
01:09how special he started working
01:12and how fast he was.
01:14Like, that is amazing.
01:16One moment that will always stick with me is,
01:18I remember my daughter staying up late with me
01:22to watch the Pacific Classic.
01:24I remember telling them,
01:25okay, this is a horse of a lifetime.
01:27And take a good look at this
01:29because you're not going to see this too often.
01:31Maybe never again.
01:33Flightline, 20 lengths clear.
01:36Flavion Pratt takes a hold
01:37and canters in in the TVG Pacific.
01:40And my eldest daughter woke up the next morning
01:41and goes, she just goes, Daddy, I'm excited.
01:44And I'm like, what are you excited about?
01:46I'm excited about Flightline.
01:47So, I didn't go to the Breeders' Cup that year.
01:50I stayed at home, watched them with the girls.
01:52Everybody was just so excited.
01:53And there was a feeling of confidence.
01:55We was at home, like, with a few friends
01:57and around the family.
02:00And we bet a few dollars, you know,
02:01just to have fun.
02:04I always remembered him going off so fast in front
02:07and him just sticking there with
02:09life is good through those crazy early fractions.
02:12And then, when they turned for home
02:14and he just took off
02:15and left everybody in his wake,
02:18it was just jaw-dropping.
02:20Jaw-dropping!
02:22Aw-inspiring!
02:24Secretariat-like!
02:25Breeders' Cup Classic win!
02:27He won it by eight likes on the wire!
02:30By the time Flightline ran in the Breeders' Cup,
02:34I had changed roles and I was the stallion manager by then.
02:37And after he won,
02:40the feelings of confidence and excitement
02:43turned into feelings of
02:45I'm about to have the world's best racehorse
02:49in my barn!
02:50And the stress that goes along with that.
02:52But it was exciting.
02:55He took away all that stress.
02:57He walked off that van.
02:58He just showed himself off like the champion that he was.
03:04Flightline is a very laid-back,
03:06very smart horse.
03:08Like, he's very easy-going
03:10and he loves to be around people.
03:13Every time you go into Flightline's stall,
03:15he comes and meets you at the door.
03:17And he's a very kind horse.
03:20So, you give him a little pat on the neck.
03:22He always likes to get his carrots.
03:24So, getting to see his progeny,
03:26take to the race track,
03:28there's a lot of pride.
03:29He's got a couple of stakes winners already.
03:31I'll always look back at Flightline
03:33and we have fond memories
03:35because he was a champion
03:37and he has pretty much defined
03:40a large part of my career.
03:42Having a horse like that
03:43has so much history
03:44and so much appreciation
03:46what you have in life.
03:48You'll be able to touch a horse
03:50and one day you'll be able to say
03:52I'll take care of a special horse
03:54and I enjoy it and love it.
03:57That's the way it is with horses.
03:58I love horses.
03:59I love horses.
04:01I love horses.
04:02I love horses.
04:03I love horses.
04:05I love horses.
04:05I love horses.
04:05I love horses.
04:05I love horses.
04:06I love horses.
04:06I love horses.
04:06I love horses.
04:07You
