00:01When we launched the iPhone 4 years ago, we completely revolutionized the phone.
00:07With the iPad, we invented a whole new category.
00:12The foundation of what made these products so successful is iOS.
00:17And with iOS 5, we've taken an operating system that was already years ahead,
00:23and we've added over 200 new features to it that move it even further ahead.
00:31We're constantly challenging ourselves to figure out how can we make the user experience even easier,
00:38even more intuitive, while at the same time adding more powerful functionality.
00:44And that's exactly what we've done with iOS 5.
00:48These days, we're all getting a lot of notifications, so we created a brand new way to handle them.
00:54When a notification comes in, it's now a subtle animation right at the top of the screen.
01:00But anywhere you are, you can just swipe down from the top of the screen,
01:04and it'll reveal the Notification Center.
01:06And from within there, you can see all of your missed calls, your text messages.
01:11And if you tap on it, it'll take you directly to that application.
01:15And then on top of that, we made the experience in the lock screen even better.
01:20You're now able to see all of your messages.
01:22And with a simple swipe, you can jump right into the app that sent the notification.
01:29Magazine and newspaper publishers and their readers have fallen in love with the iPad,
01:35and so we're adding Newsstand.
01:37Your subscriptions will be in one place and updated automatically so you always have the latest issue.
01:43And we've integrated the newspaper and magazine store right into Newsstand.
01:49We also have a great new Reminders app that helps you manage tasks
01:53and keep on top of all the things you have to do.
01:56It syncs with iCal and Outlook across all of your iOS devices.
02:00And it even includes location-based reminders,
02:03so it can remind you to do something when you arrive at a destination or when you leave somewhere.
02:10With iOS 5, we've integrated Twitter right into the OS.
02:14You'll only need to sign in once for all of your Twitter-enabled apps.
02:18And you can tweet directly from Photos, Safari, YouTube, and Maps.
02:25And with a tap of a button, you can optionally add your location.
02:30When the original iPhone shipped, it revolutionized mobile web browsing.
02:34Safari was the first full-featured web browser that people could take with them.
02:39And now it's even faster and more impressive.
02:43Reader is phenomenal.
02:45Reader gets all the clutter out of the way.
02:48It sets the font size right, and you just read through scrolling through the story.
02:53Reading List lets you save articles to read later on,
02:57and it automatically shows up on all your iOS devices.
03:01And with tab browsing, it's easy to quickly flip between multiple webpages.
03:09There's an old saying that the best camera is the one you have with you.
03:14With iOS 5, you have immediate access to the camera right from the lock screen,
03:19and you can use the volume button to snap your photo.
03:23We also added photo editing, so you can use one-tap enhance,
03:27red-eye reduction, and cropping right on the device.
03:33There are some really cool new features in Mayo,
03:36like rich text editing.
03:38And there's even a new system-wide split keyboard
03:42to make it even easier to type.
03:47With AirPlay Mirroring, you can share everything you do on your iPad 2
03:52right up on your big widescreen TV.
03:55You can play video games, look at photos, videos, and surf the web,
04:00and all of it is shared with everyone around you watching the television.
04:04It responds to portrait and landscape rotations,
04:09to every pinch swipe and zoom,
04:11and best of all, you don't need a cable.
04:14You're free to move.
04:17iOS is the world's most popular gaming platform,
04:20and we're making Game Center even better.
04:22You can now add photos to your profile.
04:25We've made it easier to find new gaming friends,
04:28and you can even purchase new games right from within the Game Center app.
04:35Texting has become the way a lot of people stay in touch.
04:40Now, iMessage provides an easy way to send text messages,
04:44photos, and videos between iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users.
04:51With iOS 5, you no longer have to plug into your computer
04:55to back up and sync to iTunes.
04:58All you have to do is plug into power within range of your Mac or PC.
05:01Wi-Fi Sync automatically backs up and syncs your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
05:07to your iTunes library.
05:09It's that simple.
05:12It's now possible to buy an iPad, an iPhone, or iPod Touch
05:17and never own a computer.
05:19You can set up your device right out of the box
05:23without ever connecting to a Mac or a PC.
05:28We looked in every corner of the OS
05:31and asked ourselves,
05:32how can we make this better?
05:34And so this is the widest,
05:36most extensive software update ever
05:39for iOS.
05:41There is a feature for everyone out there.
