Italian PM Giorgia Meloni has called the US-Russia diesel supply deal a “very risky choice,” arguing it could undermine efforts to bring Vladimir Putin to negotiations over Ukraine. The agreement reportedly involves Russia initially supplying more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel to US and global markets. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also criticised the deal, while Donald Trump said it could lower American energy prices. Meloni urged the European Union to appoint an authoritative representative to negotiate over the Russia-Ukraine war.
