Vice President Sara Duterte cited corruption, the high cost of living, poverty, limited job opportunities, and gaps in education and healthcare among the country’s pressing challenges, saying economic growth must translate into tangible improvements in Filipinos’ lives.

Duterte called for efficient and transparent government services, accountability for corruption, affordable basic necessities, and better opportunities for Filipino families.

She stressed that public services should be accessible to all, saying people should not have to rely on political connections or seek assistance from politicians to meet their basic needs.(Video courtesy of OVP)

00:00Corruption continues to erode our institutions, drain our resources from essential public services, and diminish our opportunities for national growth
00:12and development.
00:13It is a progressive disorder that has embodied itself deep within the DNA of governments.
00:21And tragically, it is the Filipino people who are left to suffer the consequences.
00:28The rising cost of living continues to put enormous pressure on the Filipino people.
00:36The cost of food, electricity, transportation, housing, and other basic necessities continues to consume an ever-larger share of the
00:49family budget,
00:50leaving many with little room to save, invest, or prepare for emergencies.
00:58Poverty persists, decent jobs remain insufficient, and economic opportunities remain beyond the reach of too many Filipinos.
01:12Economic growth means little if it exists only in statistics but cannot be felt in the lives of ordinary citizens.
01:24The same challenges confront our education and healthcare systems.
01:31Our children deserve classrooms safe and capable and supported by teachers, and an education that prepares them for lifelong learning.
01:45And no Filipino should be denied reliable healthcare, simply because they cannot afford it.
01:57Government inefficiency remains a daily burden of Filipino families.
02:04And lest we forget, our country continues to struggle with inadequate infrastructure, chronic flooding, traffic, congestion, and unnecessary bureaucracy.
02:19Our communities remain vulnerable when disasters strike.
02:26These are not merely inconveniences.
02:30They take away time, productivity, opportunity, and ultimately, the quality of life from our people.
02:41And so we ask, we, leaders, who dare to dream, is government making life better for the Filipino people?
02:56Are our people living better lives than 10 years ago, than 5 years ago?
03:08Because identifying what is wrong with our country is not enough.
03:13We must also be clear about the country we want to become.
03:19And so we go back to our dream.
03:24Ano ba talaga ang gusto natin, mga Pilipino?
03:29Imagine a Philippines where government works clean, organized, efficient, and free from unnecessary bureaucracy.
03:40Where public servants serve with professionalism.
03:44Transactions are transparent.
03:47Corruption is met with accountability.
03:50And every peso is spent for the people.
03:55Imagine a Philippines where families can afford nutritious food.
04:02Earners earn their wages.
04:06Farmers make a decent living.
04:08And young Filipinos can build meaningful careers without being forced to leave their families in search of opportunities overseas.
04:23Imagine a Philippines where every child has access to quality education.
04:29Every Filipino has access to affordable health care.
04:35And every family has the opportunity to live in a decent home.
04:40And every family has the opportunity to live in a decent home.
04:52Imagine a Philippines where communities are clean, safe, connected, and resilient.
05:00With reliable transportation, effective infrastructure, protected waterways, and preparedness for disasters.
05:11Imagine a Philippines where human rights are upheld, justice is fair, laws are applied and respected,
05:20And Filipinos can live together, and Filipinos can live together, peacefully, despite our differences.
05:29Imagine a business community where you do not need to pay politicians just so your business is safe from harassment.
05:42Imagine a Philippines where leadership is measured, not by power, connections, or wealth,
05:51But by integrity, competence, and service to the Filipino people.
05:58That is the Philippines we dream of building.
06:05But the next question is, how do we get there?
06:11And it starts with three things, order, integrity, and efficiency.
