In the protagonist's parallel universe, the sun is facing a crisis and is about to go out, putting Earth on the brink of extinction. A united government is formed to address the situation, and the protagonist joins, developing an artificial sun after years of research, just before the real sun dies. Unfortunately, it's too late, and Earth is plunged into darkness.
