00:00Why Djibouti has so many military bases?
00:02The United States, China, France, Italy and Japan
00:05all have permanent bases in Djibouti.
00:08And Saudi Arabia is also building a base.
00:12But why all these countries want to have a base in Djibouti?
00:15Djibouti is located near the Detroit of Bab el-Mandeb,
00:19which is a vital point of passage for the oil trade world.
00:23The geopolitical environment around Djibouti is also very dangerous.
00:26The civil war at Yemen is threatening to block the Detroit
00:29because the UTIs, supported by Iran,
00:32can launch attacks against the ships passing by the Detroit.
00:36The Somalia became a fragmented nation,
00:39with different factions controlling different parties
00:42and having problems of piracy,
00:44while the Erythrée is led by a dictator since 1993.
00:49All these factors make Djibouti the most stable place
00:52so that foreign powers protect the controls,
00:56the commerce through the Detroit of Bab el-Mandeb.
