03:32Get out of here!
03:57Daniels, he's running
04:07Fallen Angel, let's go Nigel
04:34And it's Nigel McGinnis set to take on the Fallen Angel's Christopher Daniels in a rematch from a bout that
04:39we saw back at the Weekend of Champions here in Ring of Honor. Nigel was able to come out with
04:44the victory in that particular matchup, winning by a countout as he had the pure title at that point in
04:49time. Right now, collar and elbow tie-up as he backs Christopher Daniels into the corner.
04:54Nigel using his strength there to bully Daniels into the corner, but gives the clean break as requested by the
05:00referee.
05:04Tomorrow night in New York City, Nigel McGinnis has an opportunity to take the GHC Heavyweight Championship from new GHC
05:12champ Naomichi Marufuji, who will make his first defense here in Ring of Honor.
05:17Should Nigel McGinnis win the GHC Heavyweight Championship, the Japanese press has speculated that Mitsuhawa Misele himself is next in
05:25line for a shot at the title.
05:27The Pro Wrestling NOAA office offered Ring of Honor the opportunity to host the very first defense of the GHC
05:34Heavyweight Championship.
05:35And obviously, Ring of Honor officials jumped at that opportunity. A true honor it is to have that title defended
05:41here in ROH.
05:43Right now, inside trip there from Nigel McGinnis. And wasting no time going out to the leg and knee of
05:49Christopher Daniels.
05:51Checking on the condition right here is referee Paul Turner. Keeping him grounded right here as the leg tied up.
05:58Nigel McGinnis now. Keeping that leg down on the canvas.
06:04And Nigel doing a good job of keeping Christopher Daniels on the canvas, which is certainly to Nigel McGinnis' advantage.
06:11Nigel McGinnis likes to obviously use the European style, a lot of mat-based work.
06:16And right now, just trying to keep Daniels down.
06:18Knucklewoman knuckle lock. Trying to force those shoulders against the canvas.
06:22He can control the knuckle lock here, but Daniels back to his feet.
06:28Test to strength here between these two men.
06:30Chest to chest they go.
06:32And Nigel trying to use his height to bring down Daniels, but Daniels really fighting back here.
06:36Those of these men are very powerful wrestlers.
06:38They'll spend a whole lot of time in the gym.
06:42And right here, it's Christopher Daniels.
06:43He's turned the tide on Nigel McGinnis.
06:47It was just a moment ago that Daniels was in this position.
06:50Nigel nips up, picks away one hand on the knuckle lock.
06:53He takes off the legs of Daniels.
06:56Only one count.
06:58Backside from McGinnis.
07:00Gets a near fall once again.
07:03Pulls him up.
07:06Get on the two.
07:11Nice exchange right there from these two men.
07:13Nigel McGinnis has got to give you some confidence there to out-wrestle Christopher Daniels like that and the early
07:20Gomer.
07:20Definitely.
07:33Nigel McGinnis had an illustrious pure title reign.
07:38Perhaps the greatest pure champion in Ring of Honor history.
07:43I don't know if most people would agree with that.
07:45Yeah, a series of excellent matches against all comers.
07:48Mastered the pure title rules.
07:51Specifically the count-out aspect where the title could potentially change hands on a count-out.
07:55Mastered getting his opponent counted out.
07:58And sneaking back inside the ring at the last split second to win the match without having to make his
08:03opponent get pinned or submit.
08:06And when it comes to fighting on the outside, Nigel McGinnis, perhaps the most dangerous wrestler in Ring of Honor.
08:12And he did earn the fans' respect through that pure title reign to demonstrate just how skilled of a scientific
08:18wrestler he is.
08:22Almost one year he held on to that championship.
08:26And now it's Christopher Daniels with the upper hand in this match-off.
08:30In the very same position we saw McGinnis in just a moment ago.
08:36McGinnis now visibly frustrated after having been out-wrestled a little bit there by Chris Daniels.
08:42I don't think that match for tomorrow night is on the mind of Nigel McGinnis right now.
08:45How could it not be?
08:47Nigel McGinnis has to be so nervous this weekend.
08:49Arguably the biggest match of his life tomorrow night at the Manhattan Center.
08:55Single-handed knuckle lock now once again.
09:00McGinnis coming off that classic series of matches against Bryan Danielson.
09:05Unification match in England.
09:08Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGinnis in those matches inflicted so much damage.
09:13Honestly, there's no way they could be recovered by now.
09:16It's only been a few weeks since their last encounter.
09:18And it's going to end up playing the factor this weekend for sure.
09:21Oh, without a doubt.
09:22He's not 100%.
09:23He had to wrestle for 60 minutes just a few weeks ago in St. Paul, Minnesota against Danielson.
09:33Bryan Danielson suffering the shoulder injury just three weeks ago.
09:43Out of action tonight to prepare for the matchup against Kenta is Bryan Danielson.
09:48Letting that shoulder rest.
09:50Because we know how important the main event tomorrow night's car in New York City is.
09:55Kenta versus Danielson.
09:57With the IOH world title on the line.
09:59And Kenta's undefeated in the IOH so far.
10:01You can't blame Danielson for taking the night off.
10:04Some people say he shouldn't be resting, period.
10:06And he should be getting surgery to repair the injuries to his shoulder.
10:10But instead, he will be defending the IOH world title tomorrow night against Kenta.
10:15And I think Kenta is the stiffest test that Danielson has had to face.
10:19Without a doubt.
10:20A very creative maneuver right there from Nigel McGinnis.
10:22Putting pressure on the arm of Christopher Danielson.
10:25It's changed it up into the hammerlock now.
10:30Despite the shady tactics that Nigel used from time to time,
10:33during his pure title ring.
10:35Pulling on someone's eyes.
10:36Yeah, or utilizing the iron.
10:38Or utilizing chairs at ringside.
10:40Or, you know, close fists behind the referee's back when he isn't looking.
10:44He is a great scientific wrestler.
10:46He's very gifted in that ring.
10:47Seeing it right here against Christopher Daniels.
10:51Maintaining that hammerlock.
10:52But Daniels turns it around.
10:53And again, it's dropped toehold.
10:55Maintaining control of the arm of Daniels.
10:58Really digging deep on that arm bar.
11:03Putting all his weight on the back of Christopher Daniels as well.
11:13Modification right here of the Shimunamaki, the Koga Clutch.
11:18Trying to take away the oxygen of Christopher Daniels from this position.
11:26Maintaining control of the arm.
11:27And tosses Daniels overhead by the arm.
11:32Pull up.
11:33And it's two.
11:35But McGinnis not wasting any time.
11:37Goes right back after Daniels with another submission hold.
11:41With a whole lot of pressure on the neck.
11:43Twisting away on the chin.
11:45Have no some chin lock here from Nigel McGinnis.
11:48As Daniels starts to make his way back to his feet.
11:52Hicked him to the corner by McGinnis.
11:55And we see the clean break.
11:57Now he drives his shoulder into the midsection.
11:59All in and jump.
12:01Let's go, Brian.
12:02All in and jump.
12:04Daniels.
12:04Well, first is the Irish boat.
12:06McGinnis puts on the brakes in the corner.
12:07Gets the elbow to the side of the face.
12:09Headstand in the corner.
12:10And here we see the tent coming into play.
12:14Both wrestlers having to adapt to these conditions here with the tent.
12:17And Nigel pulled the tent up.
12:20But he may not have seen it at first.
12:22And may have provided just that momentary distraction that Christopher Daniels needed.
12:27And that was Christopher Daniels trying to shake some life back into his arm.
12:30And Nigel is focused on him.
12:33Boots to the gut of McGinnis.
12:35And a breaker from Daniels.
12:43Rides the knee down.
12:44Gets good elevation on it.
12:45And a neck snap.
12:48Picks the leg.
12:50McGinnis kicks out.
12:52Daniels now picking up Nigel McGinnis.
12:55No, instead twisting the neck of McGinnis.
13:00Trying to soften up that neck.
13:02Potentially for the Koji clutch to get a submission.
13:06Of course, last rights and the Angels wings.
13:08Both do damage to the neck as well.
13:10Wind up karate chopper.
13:12From Daniels.
13:16He's playing his skills.
13:18Not sure what discipline of martial arts is trained in.
13:23Drops him down with the suplex right on his neck.
13:25Drawing that body part.
13:26One, two, three.
13:28Wind going for the cover.
13:29But not enough to put Nigel away.
13:33I don't think Nigel needs some momentum going into tomorrow night's matchup.
13:37Well, Daniels thought that was three.
13:39Had a few choice words for the referee there.
13:41Wow, takes him down.
13:43More damage done to that left.
13:48Still, Christopher Daniels hasn't regained feeling in that arm.
13:58Twisting weight at the neck once again is the Fallen Angel, Christopher Daniels.
14:04Nigel now trying to find a way to get back to his feet.
14:07Can he fight off the hold?
14:11He's back up.
14:14Daniels trying to maintain control of the head.
14:21And goes back to work on the arm of Christopher Daniels.
14:25Top wrist lock takedown by Nigel McGinnis.
14:29Daniels now in the corner.
14:32Full twist of the arm by McGinnis.
14:34Sends Daniels into the buckle.
14:37Puts the boot up right into the face of McGinnis.
14:41What a counter there by Christopher Daniels.
14:43It looked like McGinnis did.
14:45I think he was going to go through that running European uppercut.
14:47But Daniels was able to get the boot up.
14:50He's going to move down across the side of the head.
14:53Arabian press.
14:58First base right here.
15:00Will McGinnis give it up?
15:03Very close to the ropes.
15:04Reaches that bottom rope.
15:05Good ring positioning.
15:08He knew where he was at and escaped.
15:12Now Daniels heading towards the ropes.
15:15Maybe he was thinking about heading up top.
15:17Thought better of it.
15:19Now going back after McGinnis.
15:21Going to work on that neck once again.
15:24Shot to the midsection from McGinnis.
15:27Starting to see more and more karate chops.
15:30Daniels focusing on the back of the neck.
15:35Trying to target a nerve in between the neck and the shoulder.
15:42Ace first into the turnbuckle goes Nigel.
15:47Pull-arm shot from Daniel.
15:53Heads onto the arm.
15:55As the arm in hammerlock position, kicks away the leg
15:58and drives Christopher Daniels shoulder first onto the mat.
16:01Both then feeling the effects of this match-out.
16:05Carl Turner administers a double count.
16:12Daniels almost up to his feet.
16:14Both men up now.
16:15And a four for McGinnis as well.
16:18Both then, Dave.
16:19Going back and forth.
16:21Six-changer.
16:22Hand uppercut from McGinnis.
16:23And again.
16:25Daniels right back up and right back down.
16:27Yes!
16:29There is a four-arm strikes now.
16:32Has him backed into the corner.
16:36Gets the elbow.
16:39And the running European offensive line.
16:43Elbow.
16:44Look out for Larry.
16:47Big Larry from McGinnis.
16:50Cover.
16:53Daniels kicks out.
16:56Larry to Nigel McGinnis has finished off several men here in ROH.
17:01But not enough to put away the Fallen Angel tonight.
17:06Now McGinnis makes his way back over to Christopher Daniels.
17:10Picks him up.
17:12Going to bring him into the corner.
17:14Perhaps wants to settle up at the top.
17:15But Daniels is blocking it, Dave.
17:17You see the foot right there blocking behind the knee.
17:22Kick to the back and driving down across the chest with the arm.
17:30Headstand in the corner once again from McGinnis.
17:32Looking at the tent again.
17:34Takes down Daniels.
17:37Cover.
17:38One, two.
17:39Only two.
17:41And that time, Dave.
17:42McGinnis knew the tent was there.
17:44Didn't allow it to distract him.
17:46And connected perfectly with that mule kick.
17:49Right to the chest of Christopher Daniels.
17:54Nigel back on his feet.
17:57Daniels trying to shake off the effects.
18:00Got Daniels in the corner again.
18:03Crouches him right on the top turnbuckle.
18:06Time for the Tower of London.
18:08No, Daniels escapes.
18:11Places McGinnis up top.
18:12First strike.
18:17Daniels now.
18:20I cannot buzz him off the top.
18:24Cover.
18:27Only two and still favoring the arm that McGinnis is focused on.
18:33Daniels now back up to his feet.
18:36Moving over to McGinnis.
18:38Kind of be asking himself, what is it going to take and put Nigel McGinnis away?
18:43Maybe going for Angels Ligs here, Dave.
18:45It's the legs of Christopher Daniels, though.
18:48That's the clothesline.
18:51High need.
18:54Cross and down.
18:55Coaching touch.
19:01Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.
19:07This could be a road here.
19:08Nigel thinking about tapping.
19:15Daniels still at the hold, cinched in.
19:17It may be a good idea to tap out here, Dave.
19:20Why risk injuring the night before challenging for the GHC Heavyweight Championship?
19:26Very good point.
19:29Nigel not giving it up.
19:32He's able to hold the shoulders of Christopher Daniels against the canvas for an ear fall,
19:37though.
19:38Daniels arguing saying his shoulders weren't down.
19:41I don't know if the referee had the best angle there.
19:44Daniels now going back after McGinnis.
19:46Kind of taking his sweet time here, Dave.
19:51We're going to set him up for the best moonsault goal.
19:53That's him with the Urinagu.
20:00Daniels looking up, sees the punch a little well in the corner.
20:04And almost like a field goal kicker.
20:06Could have judged the weapon.
20:08Oh.
20:10Unable to utilize the best moonsaults ever in these conditions.
20:14Here a fold for McGinnis.
20:17Lariat from McGinnis.
20:19One, two, three.
20:21He kicks out.
20:25Both wrestlers heading to adapt to this tent.
20:29They were ahead.
20:31So he's famous McGinnis.
20:34That seems to be a right-hand player to stop the top rope compared to Christopher Daniels.
20:42Had a little bit to split here in his freezer.
20:46He places Daniels on the top rope.
20:50And he's been known to connect with the Lariat from this position.
20:54But Daniels ducks.
20:58Three more back elbow.
21:03And he can't hit the Arabian Crest, but Nigel gets the knees up.
21:09And then drops him midsection first.
21:14Roll to London.
21:16One, two, three.
21:21Here's the distributor, Nigel McGinnis.
21:26Nigel McGinnis with a big victory.
21:29And now he has that momentum behind him as he heads into tomorrow night's matchup.
21:34The historic GHC Heavyweight title match against Marafuji.
21:41Marafuji.
22:07He's here.
22:09He's here.
22:10He's here.
22:44All right.
