00:00Good morning.
00:02Ready for start.
00:04Sit down.
00:16Ready when you are.
00:20Yeah.
00:37Yeah, there's a lot went on in the game, obviously.
00:42I think we were edging it.
00:43I think we were getting into a good rhythm.
00:47We were starting to play with a little bit more belief
00:50and speed, thought and actions.
00:55We got ourselves in front, obviously.
00:58I felt pretty confident.
01:01The bench was really strong.
01:03We were going to be able to make changes that we felt.
01:06Some of the lads, having been playing regularly recently,
01:09wouldn't be able to play a full 90 minutes.
01:11Obviously, they're sending off changes the dynamics of the game.
01:16It's more of a challenge.
01:18We give them a real advantage.
01:19How are you going to get on with younger people?
01:22I don't see much of the point.
01:23You know what, quite now?
01:26Yeah, clearly disappointed.
01:30Yeah.
01:31Yeah, I was an amazing young man.
01:34I think we need to remember that he is young, very young, and he's someone who we love working with,
01:41we love trying to develop, and he will learn from this.
01:47I think we need to look at ourselves first, which we always do.
01:51We don't really tend to look at what part they played within the incident.
01:58I do think they were cute, clever, but Yamo needs to do better, so I can understand why it was
02:04a red.
02:05And the second one as well?
02:10Yeah, I think where I'm at with that one is I've seen both of Vitaly's yellows back, and where I'm
02:16at that overall is that I like our players playing with emotion.
02:21I think it's a big part of the way we play and passion, and I like us to play on
02:25the edge.
02:27And I think when you do that and you feel like some decisions aren't fair, that can be very, very
02:34difficult for our players because I feel it, and it can become very, very frustrating.
02:39Our players aren't robots.
02:41So I'm more alluding to his first one.
02:43I think the second one, it's his honesty to get back and chase back towards his own goal, which we
02:49have in abundance.
02:50We have a spirit within this team that I think is really, really special.
02:55Most midfielders wouldn't have been able to get back in to even challenge it.
02:59Could there have been a bit more common sense with the second yellow? I think so.
03:03Is there a frustration? Had you had 11 men, you probably could have got a point or one at them.
03:09You never know, obviously, and we're playing against a very good side.
03:12We're pretty special individuals within it.
03:15But I felt very confident coming into the game, and that's not in a way where we were overconfident.
03:22There's no reason why I shouldn't have confidence in our team and what we're capable of.
03:26So that's probably where I was.
03:28Like I said, when we got the goal, I felt like we were getting into a really good rhythm and
03:32way of playing.
03:34And the options that we had coming into the game, I felt we would have finished the game very well.
03:39How did you feel that Liverpool were cute and clever, as you said, in the incident?
03:47Well, if you look at where Xhaka is walking, he's not looking at the ball, is he?
03:52So he's walking into Yamo.
03:57To me, did you think he made too much of it or was it...?
03:59Like I said, we focus on us and our actions within that, and you can make up your own mind
04:05around that.
04:10What does he need to improve to get back to the start of the game?
04:16Not so much what he needs to improve.
04:20He's absolutely smashed it since he's come to the club.
04:23From his first training session to his first pre-season game and the way he started the Premier League season,
04:28we've got some very good players trying to find the balance of who plays with who.
04:33It's a really, really long season.
04:36He went away, he played international football, so he had minutes there.
04:40We had players back here that were up to speed.
04:43It's always trying to find the balance of who plays with who and the relationships around that
04:49and how we utilise the squad, I suppose, over what is going to be a long season.
04:58I think there's a good chance with two of them suspended, he's going to play next weekend.
05:15I think he's fine. I don't sense anything around his demeanour when he's in training,
05:23the calmness that he has in front of the goal.
05:25He's a marked man for obvious reasons.
05:27He's getting some really close attention from the opposition players.
05:33I think the reality, I don't know what it lays at today, it's probably the same.
05:37Obviously, Keanu has already scored, but we had nine different goal scorers.
05:39I think what that is doing is creating more space for other players to exploit, which we have done.
05:48But Thiago, being Thiago, he wants to score more goals.
05:50I think that's only natural.
05:51But his overall performances, I think, have been really, really good.
05:54So, I'm not really worried.
05:57We done?
05:59Oh.
05:59When you're playing against an attack, it's cost like £400,000,000.
06:03Is that the show that you've gone through?
06:05How well your three coaches are when you've got to take that, pay that amount of money?
06:13These are the challenges you do face, I think, the level of opposition.
06:18The game is pretty simple for me.
06:20You need to nullify the opposition's threats as well as you can,
06:23and you need to exploit their weaknesses.
06:24Obviously, some of those individuals that you've alluded to in the main, I think we kept them really quiet today,
06:30whether it was that our full-backs up against the wingers 1v1 or doubling up,
06:34or our midfielders going over to support that.
06:36But I just think we have a collective spirit that's really, really unique and really special.
06:42And there's no other group I would rather be part of.
06:46I'm so privileged to be the head coach of this club and this group of players every single day.
06:51I drive to that training ground, I love it.
06:55I love the way we approach everything, every game.
06:58It doesn't equate to a win every week, but it gives you a right good chance.
07:02Yes?
07:03How do you quantify that collective spirit?
07:05How do you, someone said to you, the baby spirit you guys have?
07:11People go on about culture and businesses and clubs and sporting environments quite a lot,
07:16but they put slogans on walls and it's nonsense.
07:19It's just what you do.
07:21Day to day, how you interact with people, how honest you are,
07:24what your behaviours are, your habits are, how you show respect for people,
07:28how you're willing to dig deep like we did today even with nine men.
07:32That doesn't happen.
07:34Still throw punches with nine men to give everything to empty yourself.
07:38It doesn't happen by accident.
07:40It's not a tap.
07:41You've got to consistently do the right things in the right way.
07:44And in the end, I think you get in and around what you deserve in life.
07:48So then the last two minutes of that match summed up perfectly
07:51while you had the nine men and you were the team attacking and then under pressure?
07:56It doesn't surprise me.
07:59The honesty of our group is there to see every week, I think.
08:05Like I said, it doesn't equate to wins every week, but it gives you a good chance of competing.
08:10Okay.
08:11Thank you, everybody.
