00:00Xbox has given us a fresh look at the upcoming fable, and the RPG continues to excite fans.
00:06But how will it play? Do you need to have played the previous entries?
00:10What exactly is it, anyway? That last question is more for newcomers.
00:14Well, over on our official GamesRadar website, we have full interviews with developer Playground
00:19Games' general manager Ralph Fulton, where he talks about new and exclusive details about the
00:24title. But before you go running off, we've crafted this list of five things you need to know
00:29about Fable.
00:34Fable is going to let you be the hero you've always wanted to be. You'll begin this new
00:38adventure in Albion as a child, the first hero that Albion has seen in generations.
00:45After disaster descends upon your sleepy village, you'll set out into the wilds to define your role
00:50in the world. Playground will give you the freedom to truly define your hero, customizing your character
00:56with a wide range of head models, skin tones, tattoos, scars and hairstyles. Not to mention
01:02plenty of clothing options too. From there, you're free to find your place in Albion. But just know
01:08that every one of your choices has consequences. Being the hero that you want to be extends well
01:14beyond how you look. The weapons and skills you choose to use can help define your role in Albion.
01:19Whether it's barging into close quarters combat with axes, hammers and swords, battling from a
01:24distance, targeting weak points with ranged weapons, or manipulating and devastating enemies by wielding
01:31ancient arcane abilities. Fable will let you seamlessly fold all three into your combat style,
01:37letting you go after classic Fable foes like Hobbs, Trolls and Balverines, and new threats like fearsome,
01:43fire-breathing cockatrices, however you see fit. There's an approachable action RPG flair to Fable's
01:50combat, with fast blows of combos and stylish finishes, helping to lend battles a sense of
01:56cinematic flourish. Playground is promising that its Fable revival will present Albion like you've never
02:03seen it before. A sprawling and seamlessly explorable open world, where you'll have the freedom to go where
02:09you want to, when you want to, once your hero reaches adventuring age. From sleepy hamlets to the towering
02:15capital city of Bowerstone, the hero's guild to cultish villages, magical forests to idyllic rolling
02:21hills and beyond, Fable wants to draw you into a new type of fairy tale. Playground has always been
02:27known for creating truly stunning, explorable vistas through its Forza Horizon series, and it's fantastic to
02:34see that same commitment to capturing natural beauty present and accounted for in Albion. There may be a
02:40hometown to save and evil to vanquish, but there's more to life in Albion than being a hero. In classic
02:46Fable fashion, this RPG is also packed with plenty of distractions. If you have the coin to spare, you can
02:52purchase just about every building in the game, be it homes to live in or rent out to other NPCs
02:57should
02:57you have always dreamed of becoming a landlord, businesses to establish and make money from, and more.
03:02You can also get involved in Albion's dating scene, pursue relationships with hundreds of different
03:07characters, and finally settle down to start a family, or get divorced when it all goes horribly wrong.
03:13Playground is positioning Fable as a truly flexible role-playing experience. The ability to really
03:19live a life outside of the one you're stuck with in the real world is made possible through a feature
03:24that Playground is calling Living Population. There are over a thousand NPCs to interact with,
03:30each with their own distinct roles, routines, voices, and personalities.
03:35Follow them around for a day to see what they get up to, assign them jobs in your businesses,
03:39become their landlord, evict them when they fall behind with rent, however you want to play this
03:44is up to you. Be warned though, everything you do and say impacts what this living population thinks
03:50of you, impacting the way individual NPCs treat you and speak with you. Morality, reputation,
03:55and roleplay is deeply systemic and interconnected, with consequences for your choices rippling out
04:01across all of Albion.
04:05So there are our biggest takeaways from our latest look at Fable, which launches Autumn 2026 for PC,
04:13PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. But what about you? Will you be picking up this long, long awaited
04:19journey
