Moon - Live Chico California [US 1974 Hard Rock]

In the vast universe of obscure rock music, there are always hidden treasures that never saw the light of day on the shelves of record stores! MOON—a band formed in the late 1960s in Chico, California—is one such rare case! With Todd Biggs on vocals, Steve Scott on drums, Phil Duncan on guitar, and Gary Braden on bass, they never recorded an album (LP), nor did they ever have the chance to release any official studio material! All that remains are a few live recordings, captured at a local dance in 1974, which have only recently been restored from old magnetic tapes!

These recordings, though rare and imperfect, reveal the raw energy of a band that could have achieved much greater recognition—even if they primarily played covers of rock songs! And yet, it is precisely this unpolished quality—combined with the fact that they never set foot in a studio—that makes this material so special! We are not talking about a band that faded into oblivion due to a lack of talent, but rather a "lost gem" of 1970s rock—preserved in its purest form: the live performance!

Unfortunately, due to their limited exposure and the absence of studio recordings, detailed information about the band is scarce. Nevertheless, Moon holds a unique place in the musical history of Chico, representing a segment of the local rock scene that, for the most part, went undocumented. Their journey mirrors the experience of many small-town bands that achieved local recognition but failed to break into the broader music industry.

The story of Moon may have been brief, but their sound—as captured in these live recordings—remains vibrant and deserves to be rediscovered by all fans of great, classic rock 'n' roll. Get ready for an era when music was created with soul and without commercial compromises!
