00:00And as Venezuela's National Popular Consultation continues nationwide,
00:05with over 37,000 projects being put to a vote from the Comandante Eco-Socialist Comune
00:11in El Valle Parish, Caracas, our correspondent Denise Arabi shares more details.
00:18From repairing neighborhood infrastructure to supporting local production,
00:22Venezuelans communes are using the second National Popular Consultation of 2026
00:27to turn community proposals into concrete projects.
00:30We are at the Comandante Eco-Socialist Comune,
00:34where close to 11,500 people organized in 11 communal councils
00:39will choose among the seven submitted projects.
00:41These include the reparation of sensitive communal spaces,
00:45such as gas cylinder booths, elevators and public fences and grates,
00:49as well as the construction of a new elderly care center.
00:52The vote is part of a model that connects local organization
00:55with the allocation of public funding, allowing residents to decide
00:59which initiatives should move forward.
01:02Before Election Day, communities discussed the proposals in assemblies,
01:06weighing different needs and selecting the projects that would end on the ballot.
01:10With more than 5,000 communes participating,
01:13the popular consultation also highlights the importance of coordination
01:17between neighborhoods, communal councils and other organized sectors of society.
01:21Beyond the vote itself, the implementation of these projects is central to the process,
01:27directing resources toward local initiatives, help strengthen productive activities,
01:32address long-standing infrastructure needs and keep economic activities securating within communities.
01:38The consultation, therefore, goes beyond selecting projects.
01:42It seeks to consolidate a system in which communities help determine their development path
01:46and take an active role in bringing their decisions to life.
01:50This is all for the moment, but we will be back with more on how the voting day is unfolding
01:55across the Miranda State and Caracas.
01:58We go back to you now.
