00:00Hey, guys, I'm Josh Horowitz,
00:01and I'm here with writer-director Greta Gerwig.
00:04I am so excited that we get to watch my trailer
00:07for Narnia, The Magician's Nephew,
00:09the way it was meant to be seen on the big screen.
00:12The biggest screen.
00:13OK, we're ready.
00:14Sometimes one story is the beginning of all the others.
00:19Can you talk a little bit about how
00:21you start to approach the look of this,
00:23creating not one world, but multiple worlds?
00:26I have a certain vision in my head,
00:28and it becomes this shared language.
00:30It's like a mind meld.
00:31And it's that feeling that we're all living the same dream.
00:36And it always comes back to C.S. Lewis.
00:38Everything in the film is connected to and has a touch point
00:43with something C.S. Lewis wrote.
00:45Mom always calls him a magician.
00:47What runs through your brain as the images kind of flood in?
00:50It's really just the overwhelming gratitude
00:52I have for every single person who worked on this film.
00:55It's been six years since I started this process.
00:59It's every accumulated minute and part put into it.
01:03Are you ready?
01:05When you're making a very small film to a very big film,
01:07the fundamentals are all the same.
01:09I was ready.
01:10I was ready to see you.
01:14I can see you.
01:16I can see you.
01:18Wow, look at all this.
01:23Looking at this, Barbie looks like a little indie now.
01:27I know.
01:28I mean, did Barbie prepare you in some ways for this?
01:31Yes.
01:31The way the timing worked out is I wrote drafts of this,
01:35and then I went and I made Barbie,
01:37and then I came back to this.
01:38But the things I learned on Barbie, I couldn't.
01:42I don't think I could have done this before that.
01:45I am a magician.
01:46But see for yourself.
01:50We haven't seen The Magician's Nephew brought
01:51to the big screen before.
01:52No.
01:52I read Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first.
01:55But he had said in a letter that he thought, actually,
01:57you should start with Magician's Nephew,
01:59and then read through chronologically.
02:04Mom, there are other worlds.
02:06Fall in love with David and Bea.
02:08I never tell her, watch anything they do.
02:11I get it.
02:11Thank God.
02:12Except for you.
02:16In the darkness.
02:19Fledge takes off, and you see almost the night sky through.
02:24And then when they're flying on Fledge through the mountains,
02:27you can sort of see to infinity.
02:31Flying a stairway.
02:34It was this idea that we had of almost like this brand new world
02:38is just a veil drawn over infinity.
02:40But it was like, how are we ever going to show this?
02:44to heaven.
02:57Super chill.
02:58Is it wrong to get pumped for my own movie?
03:00I am actually.
03:01You're like, go, let's go.
03:03Who did that?
03:04You did that.
03:05It's very exciting.
03:06It really is.
03:07It's the big screen.
03:08It's the whole thing.
03:09It's just, it's, yeah, it's emotional.
03:20It's the big screen.
03:21It's all that.
03:21You
