00:25And French President Emmanuel Macron calls for calm after riots rocked France Sunday.
00:38The Antigraft Court Sandigan Bayan 3rd Division suspends Senator Rodante Marcoleta from his position as senator due to his spending
00:45plunder case.
00:46The 3rd Division says his suspension shall automatically be lifted upon the expiration of the 90-day period from the
00:52implementation of this resolution.
00:54In July, the Office of the Ombudsman filed the non-bailable case against Marcoleta due to questions related to P75
01:01million in campaign donations he received.
01:03Aside from plunder, the senator was also charged with three counts of alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 46 on
01:10receiving gifts.
01:11Marcoleta declared P51 million as net worth in 2025 but spent P112 million for his 2025 senatorial campaign.
01:19He later confirmed he received P75 million in campaign donations adding that he received the money before the campaign period
01:26started.
01:27The senator said he did not include this in his statement of contributions and expenditures because he was not yet
01:32a candidate by then.
01:33But he was already a sitting house member at the time.
01:36The 3rd Division says the plain reading of the allegations in the case when hypothetically admitted sufficiently constituted the elements
01:43of plunder and violation of Presidential Decree No. 46.
01:46The chamber adds these cases are valid.
01:49Plunder is a corruption case which has a threshold of P50 million.
01:53Marcoleta filed a petition for bail and the prosecution has finished presenting its evidence for the bail hearings.
02:01Why did Sen. Erwin Tulfo share an illustration on Facebook depicting him being stabbed in the back by Senators Padilla,
02:07Villar and Pia?
02:09This following the Senate Electoral Tribunal's 6-3 vote on his citizenship case.
02:14Tulfo says he was hurt by the 6-3 vote at the Senate Electoral Tribunal which upheld the dismissal of
02:19a petition seeking to unseat him over alleged citizenship issues.
02:23He declines to name the Senators who voted against him, saying he was saddened by their decision.
02:29The Senators are reportedly Robin Padilla, Camille Villar and Pia Cayetano, all from the minority.
02:34The Tribunal says it denied petitioner Berteni Causing's motion for reconsideration of its March 2 decision which dismissed the co
02:41-waranto petition for being insufficient in form.
02:44Sen. Ping Lakson also questions the vote of the three Senators.
02:48He says,
02:49"...justice and fairness went out of the window."
02:52He adds,
02:52"...their motive may be deeper than personal issues against Sen. Tulfo."
02:57Had the Senate removed Tulfo from office, the number of active Senator judges participating in the impeachment trial of Vice
03:03President Sara Duterte would have fallen to 19.
03:08Two alleged scammers flee the United Arab Emirates after pocketing 3.6 million UAE dirham or 61.7 million pesos
03:15from around 400 overseas Filipino workers.
03:18The case could be the UAE's largest visa fraud case in recent years.
03:22The alleged suspects Juni Sorsano and Ryan Ronel Bajo left the UAE during the first week of September and are
03:28now reportedly hiding in the Philippines.
03:31Sorsano was a Dubai-based content creator for over a decade.
03:35An undetermined number of victims still in the Philippines have also organized to seek help from authorities.
03:40Sorsano serves as the CEO and founder of TripExpert Business and Marketing Solutions which opened on May 15, 2025 while
03:47Bajo operates as the managing director.
03:49The firm offered, quote,
03:51"...legitimate and legal freelance visa packages priced at 9,000 AED or 154,500 pesos per applicant."
03:58The packages bypassed standard Philippine government safeguards including contract verifications by the Migrant Workers Office,
04:06the Overseas Employment Certificate as well as the UAE-prescribed electronic salary transfer system.
04:12Foreign Affairs Secretary Maria Teresa Lazaro summons Chinese Ambassador Jing Kuan.
04:18This after Beijing's envoy made a statement that could be seen as a veiled threat against Manila.
04:22We should feel fortunate enough that you have a neighbor like China in this region.
04:29You know, we, if we want to use force, we may easily win, but no, we will not choose use
04:37force.
04:38And we love peace.
04:40Lazaro says the statement heightened bilateral tensions and undermined efforts to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.
04:46Jing reacted to Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr.'s statement that it was Beijing and not Manila that was a troublemaker
04:52in the region.
04:53President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on October 16 that Jing's remarks would merit a summons from Malacanang.
04:59I think that deserves a discussion between Ambassador and myself.
05:04The situation has led to calls from Philippine politicians for Jing's expulsion, highlighting ongoing tensions over maritime disputes in the
05:11South China Sea.
05:14French President Emmanuel Macron calls for calm after riots rocked France on Sunday, October 18, resulting in thousands arrested and
05:21significant property damage.
05:23Nationwide demonstrations had erupted into riots on Saturday, October 17, as violent groups clashed with police in cities across France.
05:30Fresh clashes broke out in Paris and Marseille, where riot police intervened to prevent attempts to ransack businesses.
05:37Saturday's unrest laid bare the deep anger at Macron, who leaves office in 2027 after a decade in power.
05:43His presidency has increasingly become defined by social discontent, a weak economy, and ballooning debt.
05:49Macron says,
05:50Looking at these images, we have all asked ourselves what was going through their minds, how can French people do
05:56this to France?
05:56Macron stopped short of declaring a state of emergency, but says the government would act to allow prefects to ban
06:03protests if necessary.
