00:00There's been a security alert at the Jama Masjid area in the national capital.
00:05So this is in Delhi's Jama Masjid metro station.
00:08Shocking images coming in.
00:09A CISF personnel intercepted a passenger carrying 155 grams of gold powder-like substance
00:17concealed in his undergarments and in his backpack.
00:22Now, I want to show you images.
00:23This passenger has been identified as Mohammed Shweb.
00:28But watch those images.
00:30It's very dramatic.
00:32Now, Mohammed Shweb puts his bag for checking.
00:36He puts his bag for checking.
00:37Then he comes up for checking, physical frisking.
00:40He stands there and then suddenly sprints.
00:42Watch that image.
00:43He suddenly sprints up the stairs.
00:45He could have been carrying improvised explosive devices.
00:48But look at that alert CISF personnel.
00:50He rushes.
00:51He climbs the stairs, rushes, catches all of him.
00:54He's risking his life as he does that.
00:56But he puts the nation before self, safety of other passengers before self, and then nabs
01:02Mohammed Shweb near the gate.
01:06And then they take him and examine him.
01:09A search reveals semi-solid substance concealed inside a specially stitched section of his undergarments.
01:18The suspicious material was first flagged on the x-ray scanner.
01:23And this prompted the security personnel to call him for physical frisking when he started sprinting.
01:29Police have said that he arrived in Delhi on the 16th of October.
01:32He claimed to be a resident of Malaysia where he worked in the textile sector.
01:37The substance was examined by the narcotics authorities.
01:41It wasn't narcotics.
01:43Custom authorities reportedly declined to initiate action initially, citing some jurisdictional limitations.
01:51Police said the passenger failed to produce any documents establishing ownership of the substance or any satisfactory explanation for possessing
01:59it.
01:59Now, legal proceedings have since been initiated against him by the Delhi Police under the Delhi Police Act.
02:08The nature, the purity and origin of the material recovered haven't been independently verified, established or corroborated.
02:18But his actions were found to be suspicious.
02:22But alert CISF personnel caught him.
02:25Anshul Singh now joins me for more.
02:27Anshul, what more do we know?
02:28Who was this individual?
02:30Has he come from Malaysia?
02:32Is there more clarity on what that substance was?
02:35Well, yes, that is what he has claimed.
02:37He has claimed that he is an NRI, in fact married to an NRI gentleman who is a resident of
02:43Kuala Rampur in Malaysia.
02:45And in the initial investigation, he has gone ahead and accepted the fact that all these things, the powder-like
02:51substance that hasn't recovered from him was actually brought from Malaysia itself.
02:55What is very interesting to note that the customs officers who have all the equipments to go ahead and detect
03:01such things, once it comes to the airport, he was able to conceal it from them.
03:06But, however, the visuals that we are seeing on the screen side now, the CISF personnel, who were very active
03:13at the Java machine metro station, they initially saw that there was some powder-like substance which was stitched inside
03:20and undergarment, which was in the pituit bag that the said person was carrying.
03:24And as they stopped him to inquire what was inside the bag, he started running.
03:28And the CISF officer was so active at that point in time that he went ahead, nabbed him, took him
03:35under custody and then handed him over to the Delhi Police.
03:37The Delhi Police initially went and asked the customs to look into this entire matter.
03:41But the customs said that since this has not happened inside an airport, it has not happened inside the airport
03:48and hence it does not fall under their jurisdiction.
03:51And hence the Delhi Police went ahead and got it tested for narcotic substances.
03:55Keep tracking that story, Anshul. I will come back to you for more.
