00:04Initiative, the premiere of some really wonderful stories made by nurses in our
00:08community. You can imagine that nurses have a lot of really hard stories, a lot
00:14of really wonderful stories as well. These are their stories.
00:24To be a nurse you really need to have that passion and you need to have a
00:28heart to extend to others and you know put yourself kind of in the back burner.
00:34Even though you can see the reality in it, you can see where it's going. He was
00:40the first one that I did ever lose. I mean he'll forever hold a place in my heart.
00:46Do everything to save them, the family would say. Like other hospitals, we tried
00:51everything. I'll never forget her telling me that she was stepping over patients.
00:56Families as patients died. It felt like work.
01:02We loaded the sickest and those we couldn't carry into the boats. We can
01:07hardly push the stretchers against the current. Would helicopters be able to get
01:11to us. My biggest fear is all around me and I'm not afraid.
01:24I did! A 9-12! I got it!
01:29They're superheroes they are because it takes a special person to do what they do.
01:34How heartwarming it is to see genuine people that love other people.
01:43We face each shift together. We aren't just a team. We're family.
01:48So why do I do it all the time? Like why do I choose to continue to work like this?
01:53And because I love nursing.
01:57You can't hang out on a single day.
