A developer has successfully transferred an open-source PS5 emulator, named PS5X, to the Xbox Series X. Operating within Microsoft's official Developer Mode, this emulator leverages the shared AMD architecture of both consoles. Currently, only four games are reported to function: GEX Trilogy, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Quake II, achieving approximately 25 to 45 frames per second, based on estimates. However, the limitation includes a 5GB memory restriction in Developer Mode, no available public download, and the presence of scam malware using similar naming conventions. This video explains the operation and cautions to consider.

00:00An Xbox Series X can now run PlayStation 5 games, but there is a big catch.
00:05A developer has ported an open-source PS5 emulator called KaiTai PS5 to Xbox,
00:11and the project is named PS5X.
00:13It works because the two consoles use closely-matched AMD hardware,
00:17eight Zen 2 cores, RDNA 2 graphics, and 16 gigabytes of memory.
00:22PS5X acts as a compatibility layer, translating the graphics commands and recompiling the shaders.
00:28It has to run in Microsoft's official developer mode.
00:31So far, only four games are reported to work.
00:34GX Trilogy, Hellboy Web of Wared, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Quake 2,
00:40and one estimate puts Quake 2 at roughly 25 to 45 frames per second.
00:45Now the catch?
00:46Developer mode caps games at about 5 gigabytes of memory, versus 13.5 for retail games,
00:52which rules out most current-gen titles.
00:54There is no public download yet,
00:56and scammers are already spreading malware under similar names, so be careful.
01:01Would you try it?
01:02Disclosure.
