00:00Bersama leader Rafizi Ramli has accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of sidestepping the bigger issues
00:07surrounding the corporate mafia allegations against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
00:13In a statement, Rafizi expressed disappointment with Anwar's response in the Dewan Rakyat today.
00:19He said the scandal refers to allegations of groups in enforcement agencies like MACC and the police
00:26colluding with groups of businessmen to pressure other businessmen into handing over their companies.
00:33The former PKR deputy president emphasized that these questions were not touched on
00:39or answered by the Prime Minister in Parliament.
00:42Earlier, Anwar told the Dewan Rakyat that the government inherited a system that lacked transparency,
00:48allowing corporate crimes and market manipulation to go largely unchecked for decades.
00:53He alleged that several cases involving corporate mafia activities were linked to an influential
01:00former finance minister.
01:01Anwar also denied that a current minister had received RM9.5 million from a businessman,
01:08saying the allegation was a baseless political statement and that the minister concerned had
01:13taken the matter to court.
01:15While Anwar did not name the minister the person accused of receiving RM9.5 million,
01:21RM9 is Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan.
01:24Rafizi asked if Ramanan had truly initiated any court action, saying there were no reports of this.
