Elara, an elven woman, loses her memory and forgets she has given birth. She mistakenly believes her husband Lucian has cheated on her with a healer and fathered a "bastard son" named Eliol. To end their arranged marriage, she goes so far as to fabricate an affair of her own, only to be forcefully confined by Lucian. When she is forced to use her "heart's blood" to treat the critically ill "bastard son", Elara accidentally discovers the maternal birth mark on her abdomen.
