00:00Even in China, where religion is officially not the belief of the state, religion in different senses has been growing
00:11in a way that the state may not even like that much.
00:14There is Buddhism or Daoism or certain Christianity things because people seem to have that innate desire. So as much
00:23as I recognize that in human beings there is some intrinsic desire for something that religion at least can seem
00:35to supply.
00:35You are very right and I obviously agree. In fact I would go to the extent of saying religion is
00:41the fundamental human need. True religion.
00:45We began this part of the discussion by asking who needs religion. The ego needs religion. The ego suffers. So
00:52obviously religion is indispensable.
00:55But then not the brand of religion we see floating all around us. Not that brand. So we need real
01:02religiosity.
01:03And religion will keep bouncing back but unfortunately in its distorted versions. True religion can bring goodness, joy, contentment to
01:17the individual, to the planet, to the various species.
01:21That's the beauty of true religion. But if you have the distorted kind of religion, that's the worst agent of
01:31all kinds of debauchery.
