The SMART Tunnel has prevented an estimated RM4.94bil in property damage in Kuala Lumpur by diverting 266.03 million cubic metres of floodwater across more than 685 incidents since opening in May 2007.

Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Bhd (ALR) group chief executive officer Muhammad Nizam Alias said flood mitigation and public safety would take priority over toll revenue, while noting that flash floods could still occur in areas outside the tunnel’s coverage.

00:00What is the smart tunnel?
00:02How does the smart tunnel look like?
00:04How does the smart tunnel look like?
00:09So, what is the smart tunnel?
00:11The smart tunnel is a unique infrastructure
00:15because it has two functions.
00:17The first is the world and still
00:20the only function of the only
00:24in the world.
00:24In the world,
00:25we use the tunnel
00:28which is especially for the air
00:31but in the same time,
00:34we use the tunnel to
00:37traffic
00:39for the wind coming to Kuala Lumpur
00:42because the tunnel is not
00:44happening every time
00:45so, how do we optimize
00:48the tunnel?
00:49So, the idea of the two functions
00:51but the two functions
00:53have challenges,
00:54it has the same
00:56when we have two functions
00:58we must ensure that
01:00the tunnel is safe.
01:01It has a tight door
01:04and the gate
01:06has to function well.
01:07If not, it will harm
01:09the engine
01:10that uses the tunnel.
01:12So, when it is the
01:15cost to operate
01:17the function of the tunnel
01:19is quite high.
01:19So,
01:22at the end of the tunnel,
01:23since the beginning of the tunnel,
01:25we are able to
01:27manage our functions
01:29with better
01:31than 500
01:32cases
01:33we have done.
01:35So,
01:36at the end of the tunnel,
01:38when there is a need
01:39to be able to
01:40manage our functions
01:44and because of that,
01:46we are able to
01:47the tunnel
01:48from the tunnel.
01:51So,
01:52in the tunnel,
01:52from the tunnel,
01:53in the tunnel,
01:54there is an end of the tunnel.
01:57So, this is how many people can use it because they don't have an earthquake.
02:03They don't know why they don't have an earthquake.
02:05But if there is an earthquake, maybe there will be an earthquake in Kuala Lumpur.
02:10And it will cause a lot of problems.
02:12Like a disaster, a disaster, a disaster, a disaster.
02:15So, at this time, we've been working for 20 years.
02:19There are almost 5 billion dollars in the amount of money to save us.
02:25So, that's the fact that Smart Tunnel is from Kuala Lumpur.
02:29What do you think about Smart Tunnel?
02:32It's a big challenge to help the rakyat.
02:38But when you look at the social media, especially when you look at the social media,
02:43why do you think about Smart Tunnel?
02:48Because, as I said earlier, Smart Tunnel covers 2 sungai utama.
02:52Sungai Ampang and Sungai Kelam.
02:55And Kuala Lumpur has many other sungai and there are also
02:59longkang-longkang that doesn't go to 2 sungai utama.
03:02So, when there happens, maybe in the area that is not in the area of Kuala Lumpur.
03:09He?
03:10Maybe in the area of Sun Kuala Lumpur,
03:12it's there ifftens the area of Kuala Lumpur and Sungai Empang.
03:19The area of Kuala Lumpur can then reach the area of Kuala Lumpur andanska that would make us
03:33Banjir Kilat dan sebagainya
03:34Jadi, masyarakat mungkin kena faham
03:36Di mana kawasan yang
03:39Disurf akan
03:40Diliputi oleh smart tanah
03:43Tadi, tuan cakap
03:4511 kali, umat 4
03:46Dibujakan, bila kala terakhir
03:496 kali average
03:51Setiap tahun ke?
03:52Kita tak boleh nak jangka
03:54Bila akan berlaku umat 4
03:56Tapi yang terakhirlah pada tahun 2021
03:58Suatu banjir besar
04:00Jadi, tapi kita pun kena
04:02Lebih alert
04:04Sekarang ni dengan perubahan iklim
04:06Jadi, risiko untuk berlaku
04:08Umat 4 tu akan lebih tinggi
04:10Dan kita tengok
04:12Intensiti hujan sekarang ni bila berlaku
04:14Amat lebat
04:15Jadi, perubahan iklim tu memang
04:18Satu yang real lah kan
04:19Jadi, kita perlu bersedia, sentiasa bersedia
04:21Dan di pihak smart, kita memang sentiasa bersedia
04:24Sebab keutamaan
04:26Terowong smart ni untuk banjir
04:28Jadi, saya selalu
04:30Tekankan kepada tim smart
04:32Kita jangan fikir
04:34Kita akan rugi sebab nak tutup highway ni
04:36Kan?
04:37Itu bukan keutamaan kita
