00:00Pistons use a 23-0 run to come back and start the season 1-0,
00:05part of a matinee Tuesday featured spot to begin the season.
00:10Some of your feedback says Javante Green has always felt like a championship
00:14level 10th man.
00:15I can come into a game and be a game changer while also defending,
00:18and he did.
00:19He defended Paul George at a key juncture.
00:21He made five threes.
00:23Duncan Robinson made five threes, and the Pistons pick up a win.
00:27Tech says, you saw your $200 million rim runner.
00:30What a waste.
00:32Theron is what he is, man.
00:33It's the only way anybody is ever going to say that that was a good contract
00:38or it's paying off is what happens in the postseason.
00:41Right.
00:42He could make another All-Star game.
00:43It's not going to matter to people.
00:44Yeah, and 100%, as long as he's healthy, he's going to make an All-Star game.
00:48I'm not a big basketball guy, but I did watch the game and loved it,
00:51especially during the fact that it was on TV during the day.
00:54A couple more of those games, I'd be tuning in for sure.
00:57It says, if your team plays one or two three o'clock games a year,
01:00it can be an event.
01:01A little half-day work.
01:02Go have fun downtown.
01:03Sure.
01:04If I wasn't doing this job, I would be interested in what the Pistons were doing.
01:11I would be not very interested in the NBA.
01:15There's a lot of things that have turned people off about the NBA.
01:17I think this is an opportunity for them to seize something to gain viewers,
01:23because that person just said, I'm not really a basketball guy,
01:27but I watched because it was on in the middle of the afternoon.
01:31Seize the opportunity that they're playing the C's at the C's.
01:35Yes, a lot of C's.
01:37Most people have regular jobs.
01:38Keep the games outside of 9 to 5.
01:42I mean, there's a whole lot of people, too,
01:44that work 9 to 5 that would love a little bit of a distraction in the afternoon.
01:50You're still working, but you could have the game on.
01:53Why not 3 o'clock on Fridays?
01:55Start the weekend early.
01:57I'm already into my weekend.
01:58Okay.
02:01Mentioned the Winks played last night.
02:02They lost in a shootout.
02:03Did come back and get a point.
02:05The real story today, though, is Dylan Larkin's trade list.
02:08We can name names.
02:09Oh, name names.
02:11So, Helene St. James of the Free Press has the 10 teams.
02:14That's right.
02:15We're up to 10 teams that Dylan Larkin would approve a trade to.
02:18So, let's go through it.
02:21Okay.
02:21And I have where their prospect pool ranks in hockey,
02:26just to give you, because I know they want current NHLers,
02:28but come on.
02:29You're going to need to get something back in terms of prospects, too.
02:32You're not getting an equal player to Dylan Larkin.
02:34So, I went through this.
02:36The Avalanche are on the list.
02:37They have the worst prospect pool, 32.
02:40Stars, 30th.
02:42Knights, 29th.
02:44Panthers, 27th.
02:45Lightning, 25th.
02:47Again, these are not going to be ideal trade fits.
02:49Right.
02:50The Wild have the 24th system.
02:52We've talked about them.
02:53There's really not a natural trade with Minnesota.
02:56The Canes, 23.
02:58Devils, 22.
03:00Capitals, 19.
03:02And the one that I'm circling,
03:03Dylan Larkin has the Utah Mammoth.
03:05As a team, he would approve a trade to.
03:07They have the number five prospects pool in all of hockey.
03:11Okay.
03:12Well, let's start there.
03:13They have two high-end top 10 prospects in the sport.
03:18T.J.
03:18Ginla, son of Jerome Ginla.
03:20And Caleb Dayone, who is this top five pick.
03:24He's a center.
03:25Complete player.
03:26He would make a lot of sense as a centerpiece.
03:28I think if you're working with Utah, you're hoping to get one of those two as the centerpiece.
03:33Or Logan Cooley, who was a former top five pick.
03:37He's 22 years old.
03:38He's already playing in the NHL and has played several seasons.
03:41One of those guys would be the centerpiece if you're doing a deal with Utah.
03:44And if they're not willing to include those people, you're going to start to look elsewhere.
03:48Then I get excited about New Jersey.
03:52New Jersey has Jack Hughes.
03:54They want to get Quinn Hughes, Larkin, Olympic connection.
03:58They would be incentivized to jump in this pool.
04:02Their top prospect is a big 6'7 Russian defenseman.
04:05He's the number 21 prospect in all of hockey.
04:08Don't we have a 6'7 defenseman?
04:10I don't know if we're going to have Edvinson.
04:12We'll see.
04:13Okay.
04:14But that would be their top prospect.
04:16Their number two prospect is a Swedish center.
04:18They took 12th overall in last year's draft.
04:21In terms of NHL players, they have Dawson Mercer, 24 years old.
04:25He's not a number one center but could be part of the trade if they were working out something with
04:28New Jersey.
04:30What I'm hearing is no matter what route they go, it's the start of a rebuild.
04:38If you're looking at prospects or you're looking at somebody that, well, he's up, he's 22, and maybe he'll develop,
04:48you're getting worse in the moment.
04:53I don't know how else this trade's supposed to work.
04:55And we've been saying that from the day Larkin's request became public.
04:58You're trading Dylan Larkin, who, by the way, is an attractive piece in the NHL.
05:0330 goals every season, including a career high a year ago.
05:06We can kill penalties, play the power play.
05:08His contract is a steal for five years.
05:10I should be able to call up a team and say, give me your top player on the way up
05:15the pipeline.
05:16Throw in a current NHLer.
05:18But that current NHLer is not going to be better than Dylan Larkin.
05:20It probably won't even be Dylan Larkin.
05:22So then this is just what it is.
05:25I don't know what it's going to be in their mind.
05:27They're waiting for someone to say, here's a player better than Dylan Larkin.
05:32It's not going to happen.
05:33So then I start looking at, okay, how can I supplement it?
05:35If you told me I'm getting Dawson Mercer, who's not Dylan Larkin, maybe a 20-goal scorer, middle six center,
05:44that's not Dylan Larkin.
05:46But then you're going to give me one of your top two prospects that I think can turn into one
05:51of my better hockey players.
05:53That's going to be the ideal Larkin trade, is it not?
05:55So in three years, you are starting to be competitive.
06:00Maybe.
06:01I mean.
06:02So again, I'm not trying to make this difficult on you.
06:06No, it is what it is.
06:07Because we're all frustrated with the entire thing.
06:11And I guess I don't know what they're supposed to do or going to do.
06:17Let me throw one more option at you.
06:18Do you get more in return if you play this out to the trade deadline?
06:27I mean, the list could grow, I suppose.
06:29Well, it could grow, but if you're looking at Utah, would you be able to get more out of Utah?
06:34If you sit there and you say, well, I want these couple of prospects.
06:39Utah is probably a bad one because I don't know how much they're going to be buyers, but they're a
06:43playoff team a year ago.
06:45And the West is bad.
06:48They could be a playoff team.
06:49So do you get more out of Utah?
06:52More desperation.
06:53The other thing I was going to throw in was the Capitals.
06:55It's Ovechkin's last year, last go around.
06:57They are on Larkin's list.
06:58They do have a couple guys who are young and currently in the NHL.
07:02So their top prospect is Ilya Protis.
07:05He's 6'6", 20 years old, playing third line center.
07:09And Cole Hudson, brother of Lane Hudson.
07:12Both are on their NHL roster.
07:14They are their top two prospects.
07:15They are still very young.
07:18Maybe that's your sweet spot.
07:21Again.
07:22But again, you're going to have to roll the dice.
07:23You're not getting Dylan Larkin back for Dylan Larkin.
07:25How long does it take that player to become Dylan Larkin?
07:29And they may never.
07:29Or better.
07:30But this is what we...
07:32I don't know why, and I'm not mad at you, but it's this idea of like, okay, well, are
07:39we just going to have to...
07:40Yes.
07:40Like, what happens in baseball?
07:41Did we trade Tarek Skubel and say we're not going to trade him unless we get Tarek Skubel
07:44back?
07:45Could you imagine if that's how Scott Harris operated at the trade deadline?
07:48Unless I get a lefty who can win multiple Cy Youngs, I'm hanging up the phone.
07:54I'd be like, well, dude, that's not how trades work.
07:57Right.
07:57But don't you want to win the trade?
08:00Yeah.
08:00And I think they did.
08:01Oh, I...
08:02Okay.
08:03So what does winning the trade mean now?
08:04I would say it's getting one of the top two players from the Utah system or Logan Cooley.
08:08Now, they already added Vinny Trocek, so they may sit on their hands and wait this out.
08:12I don't know, John.
08:12I don't know.
08:13You know what?
08:13Honestly, I think I'm probably along with Wings fans where no matter what they do with Dylan
08:17Larkin, I'm going to be mad when it happens.
08:21I just...
08:21Because it's not...
08:22It just signals that it's going to take longer.
08:25And we all know it.
08:27How are the...
08:27The last people to know it are the people making the decision.
08:31How about this?
08:31Expanding the list is getting the Wild to up the ante.
08:34But I looked at them.
08:35I don't know what more they can offer.
08:37I still think that's where he ends up.
08:39Well, I think the Wild should be panicking right now.
08:42That New Jersey's on the list.
08:44Because if Larkin goes there, you can kiss Quinn Hughes goodbye if he's not already gone.
08:47Right.
08:47But let's get to Heather with the news.
08:50Good morning, you guys.
08:52This news is brought to you by Michigan Lottery.
08:54Well, after announcing that they'll be closing their doors forever, customers showed up in
09:00droves to the sign of the Beef Carver Tuesday morning.
09:03And by noon, the line was out the door, wrapped around the corner of the entire backside of
09:09that iconic red brick building.
09:11The parking lot overflowed into neighboring side streets.
09:14And as they stood in line, a lot of the customers just kind of reminisced and shared memories
09:20about going to the restaurant and what that restaurant meant to them.
09:25And the restaurant says the final days of service are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through October 25th.
09:32The owner also says they're ready.
09:35They're not going to run out of food like they did the day after they announced that they were closing.
09:40They've got enough food and everyone is welcome.
09:43Good.
09:44It's great to see that people rallying or sending it off.
09:47This could have happened before, right?
09:50If they had given us more than just a week's notice.
09:54Well, no, she's saying like if people supported the business generally more, they wouldn't have to close.
09:58Because one of the reasons was, you know, like, well, obviously the pandemic, they took a hit there and the
10:02price of meat and things.
10:04But if everyone kept showing up before, who knows what could happen.
10:09But it is nice to see people getting out there either way.
10:11A Waterford area Little League umpire has been arrested and charged with distributing and possessing child porn.
10:21This is a this is a doozy.
10:23Several investigate investigations linked 57 year old Kevin Cathcart to online accounts and conversations involving child sexual abusive material.
10:33So federal investigators say an undercover Homeland Security agent received two videos from an online account linked to this guy
10:41back in March.
10:41And the FBI also investigated separate allegations involving conversations that he had about sexual activity with minors.
10:50He was discussing things with somebody online.
10:53Anyway, he is a Little League umpire in the Waterford area.
10:57Also volunteers in youth hockey.
11:00Um, it does sound though, like federal officials say that they're not aware of any allegations of misconduct connected to
11:06those roles.
11:08Um, but he was arrested, detained.
11:11He'll be in court on October 29th.
11:14Yeah.
11:15Uh, it was just announced that you too will perform at halftime of the NFL's first ever Thanksgiving Eve game
11:22on November 25th.
11:23The game will be at SoFi Stadium with the Rams hosting the Packers.
11:28Netflix made the announcement noting that U2 doesn't just perform, they deliver iconic moments audiences remember forever.
11:36Now, in even bigger halftime news, uh, sources say that Jay-Z has chosen himself to headline the 2027 Super
11:45Bowl halftime show.
11:46So this isn't like, I don't think, official yet.
11:50Um, it was reported, um, by one source and it kind of just spread online.
11:55Um, sources say Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles were all in contention for the gig.
12:03Um, but if this is true, and it probably is, um, then the question becomes, well, who will his guest
12:09stars be?
12:10And Beyonce is the obvious choice, right?
12:13Let's bring his wife out.
12:15Um, but there, there's others as well.
12:17So we'll have to wait and see.
12:18Um, but the Super Bowl 61 goes down February 14th at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
12:24Valentine's Day.
12:24Oh, yeah.
12:26Yes.
12:27Um, so.
12:30Celebrate early.
12:31Celebrate late.
12:34We'll see.
12:35We're going to talk more about the halftime show.
12:37Yes, we will.
12:37Yeah.
12:38It's interesting.
12:39Um, an elderly woman in Pennsylvania had this, uh, I don't know, bizarre confrontation with an Uber Eats delivery robot
12:47in Philadelphia last week.
12:49And, um, she was reportedly, like, blocking the robot's path, wouldn't move, wouldn't get out of the way, um, was
12:57ignoring officers' commands to move.
13:00Um, so she was ultimately arrested.
13:03She was charged with disorderly conduct.
13:05Um, the woman later said she was, um, protesting the use of delivery robots because she believes they're replacing human
13:13workers.
13:13So she, you know, she, she was really ultimately trying to block the path of this, this robot.
13:19Um, she says she always does this if she ever sees one out.
13:23Oh, she, she, she plays.
13:25And that's just like, you know, kick it.
13:26I've never really seen, I've never seen one.
13:28So I was at Kroger a couple weeks ago and I saw, they have like a robot that scans, yeah,
13:33to see the inventory.
13:34We see that guy all the time.
13:35He's got a name.
13:36Does he?
13:37Well, yeah.
13:37Or she?
13:38Or it?
13:39Or it?
13:39Yeah, we saw it and there's a name on it because my kids thought it was awesome.
13:43We're just following it around.
13:44Uh-huh.
13:44It's like scanning inventory.
13:46Yeah, just to see where they're low.
13:47But if you, if you had an issue with that, why not just knock it over so then he can't
13:50move?
13:51Are you recommending I do that?
13:53Well, like, you should, don't just block the path.
13:55I'm on my back.
13:56But like, push it down.
13:57We're like, Heather with the news.
14:01Somebody hit Melvin.
14:03He's down.
14:05Power surge is next, 97.1.
