00:01With the Test Series against Bangladesh starting next week, the West Indies play a two-day match starting Wednesday from
00:0711.30pm TT time.
00:09Some of the Windies players were part of a two-week camp in Chennai to prepare for the upcoming Red
00:13Ball Series.
00:14According to West Indies batting coach Floyd Reifer, the sessions at the camp were quite productive.
00:19The two-week camp was very successful for us. When we first got there, we met Sri and all the
00:27other coaches.
00:29We were so good about it that the resources and the amount of resources that was there for us in
00:35terms of pitches, in terms of coaches, in terms of guys to do everything.
00:41So we really maximized that two weeks there. Guys hit a lot of balls, we batted a lot of spin,
00:48did a lot of spin drills as well.
00:50Reifer says the think tank worked with the team meticulously, which saw each player batting every day for over two
00:56hours.
00:56And how would he rate the camp in Chennai?
00:59I would say 10 out of 10. I think the only challenge we had was the run-ups for the
01:05bowlers, the seamers.
01:06I think that was a challenge for us in terms, because the run-up is sand-based, but for the
01:11batting aspect of the camp, I give it 10 out of 10.
01:16The coaches were very good, you know, Sri and his team was brilliant.
01:20The guys were very receptive in terms of, you know, how they received the information from guys that are accustomed
01:27to those type of conditions in the ancient continent.
01:31So I thought that it was really good.
01:34Based on what took place at the camp, Reifer wants the players to apply the same things on the field
01:39of play during the two test matches.
01:41Areas include the ability to play spin confidently and showing intent in defence.
01:46I think that on this trip to Bangladesh, all guys are ready.
01:52It don't matter what type of spin to try this.
01:55I think we are ready to handle it.
01:57So it's just a matter now of, you know, transferring what we did in the camp and what we were
02:02doing months and months before,
02:05actual into the actual reality in the game on the pressure.
02:08Since some of the players were involved in wide ball cricket in India, Reifer says it's important to make the
02:14transition into the red ball format.
02:16We are now on the team's export.
02:18We are now on the team's export.
02:21They are not on the team's export to the red ball format.
