00:07been left shaken and upset but uninjured. There is security glass and a security screen inside the
00:14electorate office and Hannah Beazley said her staff say this 56-year-old man was yelling,
00:20making threats and carrying a homemade pair of nunchucks. She said what he was saying is hard
00:27to understand but he was saying her name and demanding to speak with her. Now the MP wasn't
00:32at the electorate office, she was up at Parliament about a quarter past one yesterday and police
00:38arrived very quickly and arrested a 56-year-old man in the nearby suburb of Bentley. He is expected
00:44to appear in Perth Magistrates Court this morning on three charges that includes being armed in a way
00:51that may cause fear, making a threat and possessing a prohibited drug. Now the Prime Minister has
00:57also rung into local radio this morning. He knows Hannah Beazley quite well through her father
01:02Kim Beazley who was once the leader of the opposition federally and the leader of the
01:07Labour Party. Now Anthony Albanese has said these hurtful comments and these hateful comments have
01:13become normalized on social media and even he doesn't read the comments on his own social media
01:19for his mental health and he doesn't have a number of these apps on his own phone. He's urged for
01:25respect
01:25following what has been a devastating week across the country and these threats are not isolated or
01:32not from one part of the political spectrum. We've also heard from One Nation MP, the leader of One
01:38Nation here in WA, Rod Cadiz. He received a death threat after Parliament this week. He says a person
01:45pulled up alongside him and told him they were going to follow him home and bash him. Now Rod Cadiz
01:52managed to
01:52get the number plate of that car and police have since arrested another person in relation to that
01:59offence. But it gives you an understanding or an idea of the threats that politicians across the
02:04political divide are facing in this heightened political climate.
