00:00And we'll start with PLS, please, Damian.
00:07Good morning.
00:08Good morning.
00:08Can you give us an injury update on Mateus Nunes, Kovacic, Haaland, O'Reilly, please?
00:15Yeah, we have a session this afternoon.
00:20They can be all of them available or not.
00:24In terms of still doubt, yesterday they were all improving.
00:30And we see this afternoon, for sure, Haaland is the only one 100% available.
00:37And the other three, we need to wait today's session.
00:41Phil Foden got the headlines in Europe this week.
00:44How difficult is it for you as a manager to keep everybody happy?
00:48You have a wealth of riches.
00:52Yeah, it's also nice in terms of many players available.
00:59So, it's a good choice for me.
01:03It's not easy to keep all of them happy, for sure, because they want to play minutes.
01:08But, again, the most important thing is that when we decide to give them minutes, they are ready.
01:17Can Turkey, Foden, Haaland all play together in the same team?
01:22Yeah, it depends a little bit on the game plan.
01:23I think they can play all together.
01:29Enzo, good morning.
01:30Can I ask you, what have you done with Phil?
01:32I know you said last week that you'd helped him because he was obviously going through some bad times in
01:37recent months.
01:37But what have you done with him?
01:39Do you personally sit down with a player like that?
01:42Or have you got other people to do that?
01:43What have you done?
01:47Since we started, I sat down with Phil two, three times.
01:52Yes, especially at the beginning, just to show him, I don't know if love is the right word to use,
02:04but just to show him how important he is.
02:09I said many times that I know Phil from years ago, so I know how good he is,
02:15for different reasons the last few years.
02:18He was not good enough.
02:21But again, I think when you have more players like Phil available, you are a better team.
02:30Because at the end, it's a matter of improving players.
02:33If you improve the players, you improve the team.
02:35So for me, I think it's my duty to try to help Phil to be, again, one of the best
02:42players in England.
02:43And when he plays with a smile on his face and he scores a hat-trick,
02:47you must know that all that talking has been worth it.
02:51Yes, but it's not a matter of just about one game.
02:55The season is very long, many games.
02:58The important thing is that, again, when we decide to use Phil or to use another player,
03:03the important thing is that they are ready.
03:07And again, I think for the players, also it's important that they are happy and they enjoy football.
03:12Seven wins out of seven.
03:14Can I ask, what's the mood like in that dressing room?
03:17The mood is very good.
03:19I said already many times, the mood is good.
03:22We are happy with our start, but we are more hungry for more wins.
03:27So, yes, happy at the moment, but we want more.
03:30When you look at the league table, I think you're already nine points clear of Liverpool,
03:35who are always considered a big title rival.
03:38Do you get the feeling that maybe already it's looking like perhaps three teams for this title?
03:43No.
03:44No, I think it's too early.
03:45There's still seven games, many games to go, so it's too early.
03:52Hi, Enzo.
03:55Obviously, an impressive result for Aston Villa last night.
03:58What have you made of their start to the season?
04:02I have huge respect for Runei.
04:04He has done well in all the clubs he has been, so he's a fantastic manager.
04:10They are a very good team.
04:11Again, you can recognise the team, but not only last night.
04:15The games that I analyse, you can see clearly what they want.
04:20Very intense off the ball.
04:22Again, they are in this moment also in a good mood.
04:25They are winning games.
04:28But, again, I have respect for Runei, and I'm sure 100% that it's going to be a very tough
04:34game.
04:35Just going on, it's the first away game for a little while after three successive home games.
04:39How much does that change the thinking?
04:42Obviously, Liverpool went fairly well,
04:44but another away game, what are your thoughts on that game?
04:46Yeah, we had three games in Eroa at home.
04:51Now, on Saturday, it's Villa Park away.
04:53That is always complicated.
04:55We know that.
04:56But, again, we are happy with our start, but we want more.
05:00So, we are going to prepare ourselves to try to win Saturday.
05:06So, the team has scored 23 goals in the past six games that your team has scored.
05:16Are you surprised at how quickly the team have gelled and have picked up your methods this season?
05:22I think it's always, you know, we need to find the right balance between the goal we score and the
05:28goal we concede.
05:30As you said, in this moment, we are scoring many goals, but I'm sure that we can improve that.
05:39That means that we can score more goals because 23 is a good number.
05:43But there is always something that we can do better, and this is our target.
05:48You said a couple of weeks ago you prefer to see a team winning 1-0,
05:52but it must give you satisfaction when you see a team scoring four or five goals a game.
05:58Yeah, it's always a nice feeling, for sure.
06:00That means that you create a lot because most of the game, when we score four or five,
06:05we also create more chances to score.
06:07So, that means that offensively we create a lot,
06:10and now it's also trying to reduce a little bit, you know, the chance that we concede
06:16or the goal that we concede and find the right balance.
06:37I think football, at the end, is team sport, so it's not about one player.
06:48They are all special, and no one of them is special.
06:51So, at the moment that I think you just consider one player special,
06:55I think, from my point of view, it's a wrong thing.
06:57So, for me, Ryan is top player, but we have another 20 top players.
07:03So, they are all different, but at the end, it's a matter to find the right balance
07:08between what do we want to do when we have the ball,
07:11what do we want to do when we don't have the ball, so it's just about that.
07:16Just as a player, you know, you started very young, Ryan, Leon at 16,
07:21been known about for a long time, maybe took a bit longer than people expected
07:24to get to the Premier League, or a bigger league than the Ligue 1.
07:29Have you seen him develop?
07:30I assume, you know, he's one of those talents that everyone was aware of.
07:33Have you seen a difference from 16 to now, and is he a more mature player?
07:37Yeah, I think Ryan in this moment is one of the best players in Europe,
07:45when he is in the right position.
07:47That means when we are able to find him between the lines, it's always dangerous.
07:52And when he is inside the box with the quality,
07:55as if you remember Liverpool goal or the other night goal,
07:58they are quite similar in terms of inside the box with lots of quality.
08:04And if we are able to keep him there, and if we are able to find him between the lines,
08:09so in the right position, I think he's one of the best players in Europe.
08:13Sometimes, because he loves the ball and he loves to move a lot,
08:18most of the time it's out of position, but when he's in the right position,
08:21it's always a weapon for us.
08:24He's so skillful, all those touches in the box, you know, to defeat defenders.
08:28What's it like in training?
08:30Exactly the same.
08:31Do you have to calm him down a bit?
08:32Exactly the same player, yeah.
08:35Can he do things you've not seen before?
08:37You know, he's so skillful.
08:42It's probably 35 years that I'm involved in football,
08:44so I'm quite lucky that I've seen many things.
08:49I've been lucky that I've played three, four years with Del Piero, Zidane.
08:53You all remember, they don't remember because they are very young.
08:57So, he has many good things, but again, for me, it's just a matter of balance.
09:06Hi Enzo, hope you're well.
09:08Football managers always talk about wanting to continuously improve.
09:12After such a positive, strong start to the season,
09:15what areas have you identified that you still want to see more from?
09:19All of them.
09:20I'm very honest, all of them.
09:22I think we can attack better.
09:24We can defend better.
09:26And it's a matter of, again, finding balance.
09:29I think in the last three games, before our game started,
09:34we were the best defence, conceding less goals over the Premier League.
09:37But then we played the game, we conceded two goals against the EPS.
09:40So, that's why I'm always looking for how we can improve.
09:44But I think also in the build-up, we can improve.
09:48It's just, you know, it's just probably sometimes we forgot
09:52that it's just three, four months that we start together.
09:55Even if I was here three years ago, but this is a completely new project.
09:59So, we just started three, four months ago.
10:01That's why I'm sure that we can just improve, improve and improve.
10:05How much have you enjoyed being back here at Manchester City as the head coach?
10:11I'm very happy. I'm enjoying it.
10:14I said that it's a privilege for me.
10:17There is one thing that is, you know, I think this organisation has done very good,
10:23that in any club, when you lose important players, many important players,
10:29and you lose the manager after ten years, it always takes time to compete again.
10:37But this organisation, last summer, changed many important players,
10:40changed the manager after ten years, and we are competing at the moment.
10:44And this is, I think, it's already a great achievement in this moment,
10:48but we need to continue for all season.
10:51The last two teams to win the first eight games of a Premier League season,
10:55the Liverpool and Chelsea, they went on to lift the title that season.
10:58Do you sense a growing belief and confidence in your side that this year,
11:02you will do the same?
11:05Again, we won seven in a row, but we want more.
11:08So, hopefully, we can have one more on Saturday,
11:11and then we'll see game after game where we can be at the end of the season.
11:15Thank you very much, Anzo.
11:17Anzo, good morning.
11:19You may be aware that Kyle Walker said yesterday on the radio
11:23that if Manchester City were to lose their appeal against the Chargers,
11:28he would have a tattoo on his leg removed.
11:32A tattoo on his leg, which says four in a row he won the title four times.
11:37What's your view on what he said?
11:40I mean, do you think it's right that he should come out and talk like that
11:43when the club is appealing?
11:45Nothing to say about that, to be honest.
11:47Yes, no comment. It's Kylie thoughts.
11:50No, nothing to say.
11:55Hi, Anzo.
11:56It's been, I think, three and a half months since you arrived here.
11:59You would have had a good idea about what to expect from the squad beforehand, obviously.
12:04But what have you learnt from them or about them in that time?
12:10Yeah, I think all the games we played, probably the game where you can learn, we said many times,
12:17probably as being, you know, PSG game, because I learnt many things from that game.
12:23But I prefer to win games, to be honest.
12:27But again, the good thing about the players is that they want to learn, they want to improve, and they
12:34want to win games.
12:34This is the best feeling.
12:36And I can see working with them day by day that we are improving, they are understanding in the way
12:42we want to play when we have the ball, when we don't have the ball.
12:45But again, as you said, it's just less than four months. That's why I'm sure that we can improve game
12:51after game and day after day.
12:53What was it about the PSG game that you were able to lean on and look at?
13:00Yeah, many things, many things. There are some games that probably you need also a different approach.
13:09The difference between first half and second half was huge, but also I think we changed something, that's why.
13:16And again, from all the games you can learn things, even the last game against the Champions League game or
13:24the Ipswich game, always you can learn things.
13:28It felt like that PSG game, some of them reacted really, really well to the adversity, but going behind.
13:37Obviously, you wouldn't have seen that before, would you? Because it's been playing sailing so far.
13:42So, from a mentality perspective, was that a good thing to witness, really?
13:47After the PSG game, the mood inside the changing room, even we don't like to lose games, but it was
13:55very positive.
13:56The players, they can see with their eyes that if we compete in the way we compete in the second
14:04half, we are there.
14:05So, that's why it was also, you know, for the players, it was a nice feeling because, yes, we lost
14:11the game, but we can be there. We are there.
14:18Hi, Enzo. Just on Ryan Cherky again, he was doing loads of tricks on Tuesday.
14:25Is that something you like to see when you watch him play?
14:31I like when the players are happy, for sure, 100%, but I also like simple things.
14:42I think the most difficult thing in football is to do the easy things, don't complicate.
14:51But sometimes you have players that are so good, like Ryan, that they need to do that.
14:57So, I'm very happy when he's doing that, also because I know that he's happy.
15:02And if you are able to do that and to allow the team to create chances, it's top, it's even
15:09better.
15:10Because, yeah, he scored again and he's scored quite a few already this season.
15:14So, I guess if he's backing up everything he's doing on the pitch and contributing to goals, then he can
15:19keep on doing what he's doing.
15:20Absolutely. In terms of numbers, goal and assist is doing fantastic.
15:24That's why I said before that when he's in the right position, he's creating chances for the team.
15:30And he also scores goals for the team and for himself.
15:34That's why it's so important that we are able to find him in the right position.
15:39Is that something you're working on with him?
15:42Because, like you said, he loves the ball, so he will go looking for the ball.
15:45But for the team, he needs to be in the right position.
15:47Yeah, but this is something that he needs to keep.
15:52He loves the ball, he wants the ball.
15:53This is something that I'm not going to remove from his skills, absolutely, at all.
15:59But also, we need to find the right balance.
16:01Again, when we are able to contact with him in the right position, we create chances.
16:05And when he's in the right position inside the box, he creates chances for himself.
16:09Or score goals.
16:10That's why we are lucky that he is with us.
16:13And hopefully he can score more goals and more assists for us.
16:17Thank you, everyone.
