03:49When I, the first film that we shot together, we get married in it.
03:53But at the wedding, one thing I was particular that I didn't want any cameras around.
03:58I didn't want, first of all, nobody had phones.

04:02And the team that was shooting the wedding, I was like, nobody talk to me.

04:10I don't want to see anyone on stage other than my friends and family.

04:13So we had like a really small bunch of people who shot it, who never came in our space even.
04:20So I think you felt like you were amongst friends and family and doing your thing and you didn't feel
04:25watched and you didn't feel conscious about anything.
04:29You could just be in it.
04:30And Vijay, we've been friends for so many years.
04:33We have had a series of so many interesting conversations.

14:03are the kind of people who I prefer working with.

19:19So, it's wonderful that you all have both done diverse roles as well as been accepted and applauded.
19:25And, of course, then criticized by sections of the media for like films that actually were just communicating characters.
19:32Kabir Singh got the same amount of criticism.
19:34And when Sandeep gave interviews, he was so upset.
19:37And he went on record and spoke about critics.
19:40And what is your feeling at that time?
19:42As in, Sandeep's characters are, you know, like a director recently put it so well, they're always very honest.

19:55They're always very good at whatever they're doing.
19:58There's an innocence, vulnerability, sensitivity to them.

20:12And also, we are very early in our career and you have big dreams and suddenly everyone's trashing your film.
20:18I think initially a bunch of them gave it really bad reviews as well, but it still went on to

20:24So, he was just expressing what he felt, which for me, you know what, whatever Sandeep does, I'll always support

20:41I've met him on occasions and I always have the most, because I have loved all his movies.
20:45And as a filmmaker, I looked at them as strong characters that were being projected, that were grey.
20:51I am being objective and telling you that I loved all, but I loved Girlfriend equally, you know.
20:55So, you have these two characters that are contradictory in many ways.
20:58When you do a pushpa and you do an animal, but you also have a girlfriend in your filmography.
21:03Ever since I started working in the film industry, you know, I've been criticised or trolled for one thing or
21:10the other.
21:11Like, either my performance or the language or the acting or just the accent or anything.
21:18So, for me, I never wanted to sort of put a barrier for myself.
21:23I didn't want to just work in one industry.
21:25I wanted to work in them all.
21:27I didn't want to speak just one language.
21:29I wanted to speak all languages.
21:31And so, very early on in my career, I started doing all kinds of films.
21:35So, today when I'm a part of a brilliant film like an animal and a girlfriend, it gives me great
21:42satisfaction as an actor.
21:43Yeah.
21:44You know, because I'm like, I'm able to play them all.
21:46So, today when you say, okay, there's a girlfriend and there's an animal.
21:51Like, it's so different, but you're a part of both of them.
21:53I'm like, I wanted it that way.

21:57Did it bother you, Dorasmika, when in Hindi cinema there was criticism on the accent?
22:02I particularly didn't have an issue with that because they said I had a South Indian accent, but I'm from
22:08the South of India.

22:15But every film that I'm a part of, of course, I go and give this option to my directors saying,
22:20I'm not the one who's going to feel bad if you want to dub with someone else.

22:30So, I was like, it was a pride for me because if I'm able to dub in all these languages
22:36by myself, that's a lot of hard work.
22:40But at the same time, if I could do it, that's, there's nothing like that.
