00:00Welcome to the all-new GWM Canon Hi-4T Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle.
00:05The Canon Hi-4T brings GWM's Plug-in Hybrid technology to the Canon Dual Cab Ute range for the first
00:12time.
00:13Hi-4T combines a turbocharged petrol engine, electric motor and large capacity battery with a mechanical four-wheel drive system
00:21for strong capability both on and off the road.
00:24The result is powerful combined outputs of 310kW and 750Nm and best-in-class electric-only driving range of up
00:34to 115km on the NEDC cycle.
00:37A maximum brake towing capacity of 3,500kg and a payload capacity of 835kg makes it ideal for a wide
00:47range of use cases too.
00:48Unlike a purely electric vehicle, the Canon Hi-4T retains a petrol engine alongside its electric drive system.
00:56This allows it to operate using battery power alone, while also utilising the petrol engine for longer charge-free journeys
01:02and situations where additional power is required.
01:05GWM reckons this is the most versatile Plug-in Hybrid Dual Cab Ute on the market.
01:11Let's take a closer look and see how that stacks up.
01:13The Canon Hi-4T range consists of two grades, Lux and Ultra.
01:19The Lux is a strong starting point and includes the Hi-4T plug-in hybrid powertrain, mechanical four-wheel drive
01:25system and low-range transfer case.
01:28Both grades share the same impressive power and torque figures.
01:31A large 33.1kWh battery, class-leading 3,500kg brake towing capacity and 835kg payload.
01:40The list of standard equipment is extensive, with the Lux receiving Comfort Tech trim seats,
01:46a 15.6-inch infotainment display running Coffee OS and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
01:53The Ultra gets more luxurious with leather-accented seats with heating and ventilation,
01:59six-way power adjustment for the driver's seat, four-way power adjustment for the front passenger seat,
02:04an electric sunroof, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, footwell lighting and auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
02:12The Ultra also adds front parking sensors, a 360-degree view monitor and eagle-eyed customers will spot the red
02:19brake calipers.
02:20Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 180kW and 380Nm.
02:26It's paired with an electric motor producing 130kW and 495Nm and drive is managed through a nine-speed hybrid automatic
02:37transmission.
02:38When operating together, the Hi4T system produces a maximum combined output of 310kW and 750Nm.
02:46Those are some serious numbers for the dual-cab ute segment and more than twice the outputs available in many
02:53diesel-only competitors.
02:55Hi4T has been developed specifically for body-on-frame four-wheel drive vehicles including features like low-range transfer case
03:03and electrically locking rear differential.
03:05The chassis uses double wishbone independent front suspension with coil springs while the rear uses a live axle with leaf
03:12springs and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners.
03:15Official combined fuel consumption is listed at 2.4 litres per 100km under ADR8102 testing.
03:22As with all plug-in hybrids, real-world fuel consumption will depend on factors including battery charge level, journey length,
03:29driving conditions, vehicle load and how frequently the vehicle is charged.
03:34The Canon Hi4T measures 5.4 metres long, 1.95 metres wide and 1.9 metres high with a wheelbase
03:42of 3.2 metres.
03:44To offer both a roomy cabin for up to five occupants as well as a sizeable tray.
03:50Both grades feature a tough black exterior treatment with matte black grille, exterior mirror caps, door handles, side steps, roof
03:58rails, sports bar and rear privacy glass.
04:01The vehicle rides on 18-inch black alloy wheels with the ultra identifiable by its contrasting red brake calipers.
04:09Up front features automatic LED headlights with daytime running lights, electric levelling and sequential LED indicators.
04:18The exterior mirrors are auto-folding when the vehicle is locked.
04:21A full-size steel spare wheel is fitted in the traditional position under the tray.
04:26A range of exterior colours are available including pearl white, crystal black, Pittsburgh silver, lunar red, sapphire blue and fossil
04:38grey.
04:39With premium paint attracting an additional charge where applicable.
04:43Smart keyless entry with push-button start, an electric parking brake and auto hold are standard on all Canon Hi4T
04:50models.
04:51There's seating for five occupants across two rows with a three-point seat belt in the centre position, isofix on
04:58the outboard rear seats and a fold down centre armrest.
05:01The rear seat bases can be folded up in a 60-40 configuration for carrying taller items inside the cabin.
05:07Luxe models use comfort-tech upholstery with six-way manual seat adjustment for the driver while the front passenger seat
05:13provides four-way adjustment.
05:15Moving to the Ultra changes to leather-accented seats and adds power adjustment as well as three-stage heating and
05:21ventilation for added comfort on chilly mornings and hot afternoons.
05:25Power windows are standard with automatic operation for the driver's window on Luxe while the Ultra extends automatic operation to
05:32all power windows.
05:33The steering wheel has tilt and reach adjustment and incorporates multi-function media and cruise controls plus paddle shifters for
05:41manual control of the nine-speed automatic.
05:43The Ultra also provides a dedicated USB connection for a dash camera.
05:48The Canon Hi4T features the latest 15.6-inch high-resolution touch screen running GWM's easy-to-use Coffee OS,
05:56providing access to vehicle settings, entertainment and smartphone connectivity.
06:00You can install third-party streaming, media and other applications through the Coffee OS App Store, which is a nice
06:06touch.
06:06It also supports over-the-air software updates, so improvements and new features can be downloaded as soon as they're
06:12available without needing to wait for your next service.
06:15This pairs nicely with the 10.25-inch driver display, which you can customise with your ideal layout and vehicle
06:21information.
06:21Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keep you safely connected when on the move, along with a wireless phone charger
06:28in the front of the cabin to keep your device charged.
06:31Audio is delivered through a six-speaker sound system featuring Bluetooth and DAB digital radio with USB-A and USB
06:38-C connections for fast charging.
06:40Two additional USB-A ports on the back of the console are ideal for rear passengers to charge their devices.
06:46Connected car telematics are standard and provide additional remote access through the GWM smartphone app.
06:52Using a compatible smartphone and the app, owners can remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, activate the seat and cabin
06:58climate controls, locate the vehicle and check the current fuel level and battery charge status.
07:04It's great being able to check the vehicle status or prepare the cabin in advance from your home or office
07:09before setting off on a journey.
07:10At the rear, the Canon Hi-4T includes a spray and tub liner as standard, with a load area of
07:171,520mm by 1,520mm.
07:20Curb weight is listed at 2,585kg, while maximum payload is 835kg.
07:28This results in gross vehicle mass of 3,420kg, with a gross combined mass of 6,400kg, when factoring in
07:37a trailer.
07:37Listening to feedback from customers, Cruise Control is available on the Canon Hi-4T even when towing, a key improvement
07:45spearheaded by the local development team.
07:48This includes dedicated towing drive mode in the vehicle's drive settings, adjusting the driver assistance systems to better suit longer
07:55motorway journeys with a load on the back.
07:58Maximum brake towing capacity is a class-leading 3,500kg, with maximum unbrake towing capacity of 750kg.
08:05Maximum downball weight is 350kg.
08:09The full-sized steel spare wheel is fitted in the traditional position under the tray, leaving the full tub available
08:15for carrying loads and cargo.
08:16Back here, you'll also notice a new panel for some exciting vehicle-to-load features unique to the Canon Hi
08:23-4T, but more on that a little later.
08:25With a full charge, the 33.1kWh high voltage battery in the Canon Hi-4T offers a class-leading electric
08:33-only driving range of up to 115km, according to the NEDC test cycle.
08:39This is great for day-to-day driving, especially around town, with many journeys able to be completed on electric
08:45power alone.
08:46The Canon Hi-4T supports DC fast charging at up to 110kW, charging the battery from 30% to 80
08:53% in as little as 18 minutes.
08:56Once the available electric range has been used, the petrol engine means the Canon Hi-4T can continue travelling without
09:03requiring an immediate charging stop.
09:04The petrol fuel tank has a capacity of 75 litres.
09:08AC charging power is available at up to 6.5kW.
09:12With a full tank and battery charge, GWM lists a combined driving range of up to 1037km.
09:19The Canon Hi-4T incorporates three 240V power outlets in the tub and can provide up to 6kW of discharge
09:27power in addition to a single 12V outlet.
09:30This allows energy stored in the high voltage battery to be used to power compatible external electrical equipment, such as
09:37tools, camp equipment and appliances.
09:40The Canon Hi-4T combines its electrified powertrain with a mechanical four-wheel drive system, which is exactly what you
09:47need if you're intending to venture off the beaten track.
09:50Central to this is the nine-speed hybrid automatic transmission and a low-range transfer case.
09:56Low range provides an additional reduction ratio for situations requiring low speed control and increased torque multiplication, such as steep
10:04gradients, loose surfaces and more demanding off-road terrain.
10:08It's exactly the sort of hardware you need for tackling the tough stuff.
10:12Selectable settings include snow, mud and sand terrain modes, together with four high and four low four-wheel drive settings,
10:21plus an electrically controlled rear differential lock.
10:24When engaged in appropriate conditions, this locks the rear differential so the wheels rotate together rather than allowing normal differential
10:32action between them.
10:33Hill ascent control and hill descent control are also included to assist the driver in managing steep terrain.
10:38The vehicle's physical dimensions contribute to its hardcore off-road abilities.
10:44Minimum ground clearance is 200mm, with an approach angle of 26 degrees, departure angle of 23 degrees and break-over
10:53angle of 19 degrees.
10:54The combination of these systems means the Hi-4T powertrain operates alongside conventional mechanical four-wheel drive components, rather than
11:02replacing the transfer case and differential hardware.
11:05For a level of off-road ability that can't be achieved with electric motors alone.
11:10The Canon Hi-4T is equipped with seven airbags, including a centre airbag.
11:15Isofix child restraint mounting points are also provided on the outboard second road seats.
11:19The vehicle includes a tyre pressure monitoring system and a range of active driver assistance technologies.
11:25Forward facing systems include front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition.
11:31Lane support systems include lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centering and emergency lane keeping.
11:39Blind spot monitoring, rear collision warning and rear cross traffic alert with braking assist with detecting vehicles in adjacent areas,
11:47while lane change assist provides additional support during lane changes.
11:50Door open warning is great, especially for families warning when an approaching vehicle is detected when an occupant is starting
11:58to open a door.
11:59For low speed maneuvering, the Lux receives a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.
12:04The Ultra expands the parking technology with front parking sensors and a 360 degree view monitor, providing multiple camera views
12:11around the vehicle to assist with low speed maneuvering.
12:14Adaptive cruise control and intelligent cruise control with traffic jam assist are ideal for longer journeys as well as bumper
12:20to bumper traffic.
12:21You can switch to standard cruise control too, if you prefer the more traditional style, which even works with the
12:26trailer connected.
12:27As with all driver assistance systems, these features are aids only.
12:31The driver remains responsible for the vehicle and must remain attentive and in control at all times.
12:35The Canon Hi-4T is supported by GWM Care with a seven year unlimited kilometer vehicle warranty from the date
12:43of first registration.
12:44The high voltage battery is covered by an eight year unlimited kilometer warranty, providing additional long term coverage for the
12:51Canon Hi-4T's plug-in hybrid battery.
12:53Five years of roadside assistance and cap price servicing provides greater cost certainty during the covered period, with servicing to
13:02be carried out in accordance with GWM's recommended maintenance schedule.
13:05Warranty, roadside assistance and cap price servicing benefits remain subject to the current GWM care terms, conditions, exclusions and servicing
13:13requirements.
13:14As you can see, the all new GWM Canon Hi-4T PHEV combines a versatile powertrain and an extensive list
13:22of features packing in a lot of value at a sharp price point.
13:26Across both grades, the Hi-4T powertrain produces a combined 310 kilowatts and 750 newton meters, 115 kilometers of electric
13:35only range and a total range of up to 1037 kilometers on a single tank and single charge, both on
13:42the NEDC test cycle.
13:44It also retains the rugged capability expected of a dual cab ute with a three and a half ton brake
13:49towing capacity, 835 kilogram payload, mechanical full drive system, low range transfer case and electrically locking rear differential.
