00:00There's going to be a goaltender for the Florida Panthers
00:02making his NHL debut tonight.
00:05They're in Pittsburgh.
00:06I remember they were in Ottawa last night, emotional game
00:08with Brady Kachuk going back to Ottawa and everything else.
00:10So they're flying to Pittsburgh, and Cooper Black is starting in goal.
00:15Good story, Scott, right?
00:16Yeah, good story.
00:18AHL goaltender is 25 years old.
00:20He's bounced around the minors there, paid his dues, if you will.
00:24Pretty good season last year, down with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.
00:282.47 goals against average, over 90 save percentage in 42 games,
00:34in which he won 25, 13, and 4, right?
00:36So, okay, big deal.
00:37We've seen that before, right?
00:39Not this dude.
00:40I don't know if you've seen a picture of him, but he stands 6'8 as a goaltender.
00:49He will become the biggest goaltender in NHL history when he gets the start tonight.
00:55I saw him at 6'8.
00:57You know, my bad.
00:58I should have given the guys a picture of him.
01:00I saw it on Twitter this afternoon.
01:01I didn't realize I was doing the show until late, so I couldn't get it.
01:05His waist, Craig, comes up to the post, the crossbar.
01:11That's how tall he is.
01:12I mean, his whole body is over the crossbar.
01:16It is just, I don't know how the dude gets down to stop a puck.
01:21I mean, because, you know, most goaltenders, they scrunch, right?
01:26They scrunch down a little bit, and they can slide to the left.
01:29They slide to the right, and they block it with their shoulders and stuff.
01:31You know, kick save, maybe.
01:32But this dude is so tall, he'd have to be on his knees, literally, to stop a puck with his
01:38chest,
01:38unless the puck is going to go five feet over the net.
01:41So, I mean, but he's pretty good.
01:44I mean, obviously, he's in the NHL, right?
01:46And even in the AHL, which was pretty good hockey, he had some success.
01:50So, I don't know how he stops pucks.
01:52Like, how about a slap shot, you know, to the left or right?
01:56I mean, his legs are so big.
01:58How is he stopping a puck that's on the ice when there's a scrum?
02:01I don't know, Scott.
02:02You know?
02:03That's a good one.
02:04I mean, I don't know.
02:05You have to tell me.
02:06I don't know.
02:06It doesn't seem normal for me.
02:08But, I mean, how did he do in the minors, Scott?
02:11I have no clue.
02:12Like, this is new to me.
02:13So, is there any data or anything like that of how he performed?
02:16I suppose they wouldn't call him up.
02:18Is this out of emergency of any kind for the Panthers?
02:21I'm not even following.
02:22Yeah, Jake Markstrom got hurt.
02:24So, he's going to be out a couple of weeks.
02:26But he was pretty good down in the AHL.
02:29So, 25, 13, and 4.
02:31He had a goals against average of 2.47.
02:34So, that's pretty good.
02:36I mean, under three, right?
02:37Yeah, I would say so.
02:38And it's generally under three.
02:40So, I don't know if people go out of their way to watch hockey.
02:43But I'm going to go out of my way tonight to watch at least a little bit of this stuff.
02:46I just want to see how he, you know.
02:50But I guess if he can stop pucks in the AHL, he can in the NHL.
02:54I know they're coming at you probably a little bit faster.
02:56But I'm fascinated by a guy that's nearly seven feet playing goal.
03:01And like I said, when you look at the picture and you see him standing next to the net,
03:05that's where it's really comical.
03:07Just to see how big it is.
03:07No, that must be funny.
03:09Yeah, that'll be funny.
03:10That puts it into perspective.
03:11It gives me a reason to check it out tonight, then.
