00:00Legal action is being initiated against Human Resources Minister Datuk Sri R. Ramanan
00:06by former Economy Minister Datuk Sri Rafizi Ramli over allegations made against him.
00:12In a statement on Friday, Rafizi said he had instructed his lawyers to begin legal proceedings
00:17after reviewing Ramanan's press conference on Thursday.
00:21He said his legal team believed there were strong grounds for a defamation suit over the allegations,
00:26including claims linking him to corruption.
00:30Ramanan, who is also PKR Vice President, had described Rafizi as a serial liar,
00:36accusing him of repeatedly making false statements and distorting facts.
00:41The dispute follows Rafizi's allegation that Ramanan had received 9.5 million ringgit
00:46from businessman Victor Chin to resolve issues linked to an alleged corporate mafia.
00:52Rafizi said he had yet to receive a writ of summons from Ramanan over the allegation.
00:57He also claimed Ramanan had continued to avoid addressing the allegations
01:01and had not taken legal action over his earlier remarks,
01:05despite previously challenging those who linked him to the claims to sue him.
01:09Rafizi, who is also a Bersama leader, further alleged that Ramanan's latest remarks
01:14contradicted Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim's statement in parliament earlier this week
01:20that the minister had initiated legal proceedings.
